Animation dance done right

bareboards2 says...

This vid is from the auditions, not the competition itself. I agree with you -- I get so mad when they throw in a reaction shot.

They don't do judge reactions during the competition. They have annoying camera choices instead.

I've never timed the talking. The first competition show has ten couples and at least one group dance in two hours. They also show the first rehearsal, as the dancers meet the choreographer. And I have a fast forward button for the true filler crap.

What can I say? This one show is my Summer Passion. I throw my doors open to all my friends to watch. We rewind the dances we love and watch them two, sometimes three times.

The show is about trust and community and respect, unlike some other competition shows I have watched two minutes of.

But if you don't have a fast forward or a rewind button or a relatively large TV screen and a room full of people cheering, and crying, well, my love for it has a support system.

@bareboards2 It's hard for me to pay attention to the dancing when they constantly cut to the judges. Why would you do that? I absolutely hate these type of shows. I'm sure the talent is fine but arent you subjected to 30 min(its a guess) or more of background story before seeing a couple minutes of the dancing or singing or whatever the shows about. I find it all very annoying.

When he danced for his life in Vegas, I couldn't believe that he actually topped this audition.

@song77 -- did you watch the video? I can't tell from your comment. Are you watching on full screen? It would help if this were HD -- the subtleties of his movement might be hard to see in this fuzzy vid.

@quality, straight up down the line quality.

Creepy Porn star Interview

Barseps says...

Reminds me of something I read in a magazine about 10 years ago. In an interview with UK porn actor Omar Williams, when he was asked if he ever refused to have sex with a woman & why, he responded that he did once refuse because the girl (who was only 18) had been dropped off to the "audition" by her father & it was just "too freaky" for him.

The Australian Victims of Gun Control - John Oliver Part 2

VoodooV says...

Strictly speaking, I wouldn't want to have Australia's or Japan's system of gun control either.

As usual, I think a hybrid is possible. As usual, the argument gets framed as two extremes. total gun confiscation vs total unfettered access. Neither would work for America. As usual, the problem isn't really the laws, the problem is enforcement, but the NRA has done everything they can to make enforcement next to impossible too.

People like to throw out false analogies between cars and guns...so let them eat those words. We license cars and periodically re-test for competency. So do something similar for firearms. Perhaps some sort of home safety audit. prove you've got your firearms locked up safely. With rights come responsibility after all.

Sorry grampa, but if you can't see worth a damn, you're a liability, not a boon, with a weapon.

How many times have we seen on a sift someone who does treat weapons with respect and safety and another sift with some fucking idiot putting Evolution-into-Action with a firearm. If you can demonstrate proficiency and safety, most people wouldn't care how many weapons you have.

Even the NRA should be for this since they like to claim they care about safety. /sarcasm

Describing Colors To Blind People

oblio70 says...

Actually, the way we understand colors is far more than what we see. It overlaps the tactile, the auditive (smell, temperature, ect.) and makes extensive use of memory. These are added dimensions to flesh out "knowledge". Mechanical organisms that can incorporate multiple forms of input tied in with memory can/will in fact have understanding (so long as processing is involed), perhaps even surpassing our own understanding one day.

Facts: Yes, the Federal Reserve banks are privately owned, but they are controlled by the publically-appointed Board of Governors. The Federal Reserve banks merely execute the monetary policy choices made by the Board. In addition, nearly all the interest the Federal Reserve collects on government bonds is rebated to the Treasury each year, so the government does not pay any net interest to the Fed.

Facts: No foreigners own any part of the Fed. Each Federal Reserve bank is owned exclusively by the participating commercial banks and S&Ls operating within the Federal Reserve bank's district. Individuals and non-bank firms, be they foreign or domestic, are not permitted by law to own any shares of a Federal Reserve bank. Moreover, monetary policy is controlled by the publically-appointed Board of Governors, not by the Federal Reserve banks.

Fact: Independent accounting firms conduct full financial audits of the Federal Reserve banks and the Board of Governors every year. The Fed is also subject to certain types of audits from the Government Accounting Office.

Facts: The Federal Reserve rebates its net earnings to the Treasury every year. Consequently, the interest the Treasury pays to the Fed is returned, so the money borrowed from the Fed has no net interest obligation for the Treasury. The government could print its own currency independent of the Fed, but there would be no effective safeguards against abuse of this power for political gain.

Facts: The Federal Reserve banks have only a small share of the total national debt (about 7%). Therefore, only a small share of the interest on the debt goes to the Fed. Regardless, the Fed rebates that interest to the Treasury every year, so the debt held by the Fed carries no net interest obligation for the government. In addition, it is Congress, not the Federal Reserve, who is responsible for the federal budget and the national debt.

Facts: Kennedy wrote E.O. 11,110 to phase out silver certificate currency, not to issue more of it. Records show Kennedy and the Federal Reserve were almost always in agreement on policy matters. He even signed legislation to give the Fed more authority to issue currency.

Facts: McFadden was incorrect regarding the Fed costing the government money. However, later economic analysis agrees with him that Federal Reserve policy blunders had a substantial role in causing the Depression. However, his implication that this was done deliberately has no basis in fact. Moreover, for a dozen years prior to his rant, McFadden had been the chairman of the House subcommittee that oversaw the Federal Reserve. Why didn't he do anything to reform or abolish the Fed while he had the chance?

Facts: The banking system is indeed able to create money with a mere computer keystroke. However, a bank's ability to create money is tied directly to the amount of reserves customers have deposited there. A bank must pay a competitive interest rate on those deposits to keep them from leaving to other banks. This interest expense alone is a substantial portion of a bank's operating costs and is de facto proof a bank cannot costlessly create money.

Fact: The term 'lawful money' does not refer to gold or silver coin, but to types of money which the government would permit banks to use when tabulating their reserves. These types of money included, but were not limited to, gold and silver coin.

Yeah, I'm hoping this is an audition tape of some kind. Still, I have a hard time upvoting (for obvious reasons)>> ^PlayhousePals:

I can't help but wonder if this is an act [or audition perhaps?] ... for her sake I hope it is. If it is true, she does have the power to block him frorm her YT channel at the very least. =o/
