She was pretty good at that but I think we need to remember that this is a Television show. She was cast in this show, so she's attractive, and she had connections to get an audition. Yes an audition.

Not taking anything away from her athletically but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a girl in the Crossfit competitions who couldn't smash this course pretty handily. It's just that they didn't book the audition.

Still really neat, hope she beats the Vegas one.

Thanks mate, very nice comment of you.

Always like to hear different viewpoints, makes me consider ideas I hadn't and also bulk up my own point of view, so all good

I suppose they're all specific specialities of the broader business field, I would also add accounting but they are very broadly interrelated. For example in bank lending decisions, discounted cash flow estimations (finance) which are reliant on income statement and balance sheet information are just as important as IS/BS audit expertise (accounting) which assesses the credibility of their reporting. This is especially true for smaller, privately owned entities (who obviously can't rely on public equity, so are generally bank reliant). Large publicly listed companies have much more stringent auditing requirements already, and public disclosure means that they are highly open to scrutiny.

Economics beyond 101 basics is generally is more of an academic niche. The macroeconomic side looking at large scale GDP, inflation, employment etc., is relied upon in government, treasuries and policy think tanks. Large listed companies would certainly have a dedicated in-house team for consultations. Medium sized companies might contract dedicated industry research consultant firms, but outside of that their use is quite limited.

The microeconomic side is industry specific looking at competitive behaviour inter-firm, with suppliers and customers. It's generally a more wishy washy field which introduces some amateur psychology via behavioural economics and game theory. It's more of an academic field really. I can imagine large multinationals with few competitors employing them or hiring consultants. We have a near duopoly here in supermarkets and I can see them using microeconomic theory in pricing decisions for example.

thank you for your most awesome reply.always a pleasure discussing topics with you.
i always give an ear to your input, especially in regards to business and economics.so i am not surprised you studied in that field.

but now i feel i called you a charlatan...derp derpa derpa....my bad.

there is something that always confounded me in regards to higher education.
why is it there appears to be a triad:business, economics and finance.

shouldn't these be integrated? why are they separate?

Ok, I would point-out that everything this puppeteer does so well is based on his stringing-of one cliched phrase to another while using not-so-subtle words to trigger responses. Notice how his carefully-crafted script should he be distracted from it (in this case by a heckler who is not only about to be the brunt of a joke, but probably arrested, detained, bullied, released and followed for weeks and he'll most likely get an IRS audit in his mailbox soon) goes to shit, and he can't improvise a sentence fragment or turn of phrase.

Making the guy the brunt of a joke, then hustling him out of the casino for a work-over. Capone would be proud.

Simple, emotionally-loaded pre-scripted words in every speech, every prepared statement.
He touches his face too much, pretty sure that's a liar's tell, very irritating and one of the most flagrantly insulting heads of state in the history of the office of President.

People, are becoming so overtly programmed to respond to such obvious bullshit....Kill your fucking TV's please people, before Complete Cognitive Warpage occurs...

Afraid this one might once-again vanish....Too bad. The YT should enshrine as a testament this footage forever of the dangers of repeated audits combined with Botox and Dilaudid enemas.

The Office Audition Tapes

sanderbos says...

I find this video incredibly interesting, thanks for posting.

One aspect of it is that some of these actors are so clearly wrong for the part. And it's not like they could have taken the role in a very different direction, because it's all based on a existing BBC show with established characters. (Adam Scott as Jim would have been great though)

But also, that they have had these (relatively) famous people audition is odd to me. One of the things I find so interesting in The Office US is that in the British version there's only four real characters involved, all the others are just window dressing and only get a few lines here and there. And that's why I thought that they hired these unknown actors in the US version (look up the resume of people like Angela Kinsey and Brian Baumgartner, they had done nothing until the Office), and then as the show progressed they got more and more to do, and they turned out to be pretty great at it.

But now in this video I see people like Eric Stonestreet reading for Kevin (already with a number of credits when this was casted), so I guess I was wrong and they were casting an ensemble cast.
