What Should the *Win Channel Be Renamed? (User Poll by lucky760)
By design, the software parses a comment for all recognized invocations, regardless of what text might follow.
This is how we support creativity in your invocations, for example, allowing for "What we have here is *failure to communicate," instead of requiring the exact "fail" keyword to standalone like, "What we have here is *fail ure to communicate."
This is why invoking *Wings triggers the *Win invocation and what I mean by saying it's a feature. What you're asking is that we either require that only the exact term is allowed as a valid invocation (which no one wants) or that I modify some of our core siftbot software to change the way it parses comments so it can look-ahead and compare every matched invocation and any or all the alpha-numerics that follow to see if there's possibly some other invocation that could also be matched and if so then ignore all shorter matched invocations.
I'm not going to expend the effort to completely rewrite that code into something much more complex and slower to execute just to support functionality that we never intended to allow in the first place.
Chris Matthews Freaks Out At Obama After Debate
The whole concept of debates is kind of strange. These candidates basically lay out their positions and platforms ahead of time, and most people are going to identify with one over the other. It seems to me that someone who changes their political convictions based on debate performance must not have had strong convictions in the first place.
I support Obamacare regardless of how well Obama does in the debates. I think privatizing education is a horrendously bad idea regardless of whether Romney surpasses expectations or not. The real debate should take place in the head of the individual voter long before the debates are even scheduled.
Because the choice between platforms is so personal and so subjective, the only fair criteria to judge the candidates on are confidence, performance and expectations. By these criteria, Romney did great. He said nothing that I found enlightening or even vaguely persuasive, but he was the more alpha-y alpha dog on stage.
(Issy is giving me shit for this comment, so let me be clear, I in no way support Mittens or Paul Ryan.)

Zero Punctuation: Half-Life
>> ^shagen454:
I think hands down my favorite FPS ever is System Shock 2 with Half-Life coming close.
My favorite games ever are all tied though. Planescape: Torment, Bladur's Gate 2, Fallout 1&2 and Alpha Centauri.
Heh, all those games are on my list too, plus a few turn based games and MP shooters.
And I completely agree, SS2 is the finest of the PC singleplayer FPS games.

They certainly don't make FUCKING awesome games like they used to, everything is hand fed to a stupid gamer populous. I don't remember the last time I was challenged and simultaneously immersed in a game.
SS2 is the
firstonly time I've ever been truly freaked out by a game.I was walking, creeping more like, into a large storage room, when all a sudden I decide to turn around and a head-slugged dude apparently, silently, followed me out of the corridor I had just "cleared" and screamed "KIIILLLLLL MEEEE!!!!!" and fucked my shit up.
I actually screamed.

We're definitely going to need some alpha testers, though we're not quite there yet. ^Deano:

I usually like watching others play video games for some reason. This was horrible. What isn't mentioned in the description is that this is an alpha build of the game. Terrible framerates, graphics, and gameplay. No wonder LucasArts canceled it.
I do too these days. Alpha wasn't meant to have smooth FPS, nice graphics, etc.
There were a lot of recent LucasArts games that should not have been existed. :
