It's not about criticizing Israel. It's about the anti-racism conference! The declaration they are discussing from Durban says plenty about stopping racism, but the ONLY specific reference to ANY nation is ISRAEL! Israel is being singled out as the ONLY example of a racist nation. Not even Darfur or North Korea are mentioned for pity sake. Singling out Israel alone for criticism IS RACIST and hqas no place at an anti-racism conference!

And of course you seem to be content to ignore that these comments come from a holocaust denier as well. What is it that makes your hate for Israel so intense that you would ignore all this?

Actually, Bush & Ahmadinejad make the idea of a nation ruled by the word of God seem pretty darn attractive. I think it might be time for a constitutional amendment!

Perhaps something that was not synonymous in meaning with words like "annihilate" or "murder" might have been a better choice? The last thing we need is for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to feel like he actually needs nuclear weapons to protect his country from the same force presently invading two of his neighbours...

I think you may want to crack open your OED before throwing around buzzwords.

By the way, multiculturalism isn't very special or even unique to London. Eventually (and it's already the case in some places), the demographics will be so similarly heterogeneous in most Western-European and North-American cities that traveling will become pointless, asides from seeing landmarks. Although the look of the land may be similar,the feel of the land will have melted away. It isn't a badge of honour to say the most important city in the UK is less and less British every year.

How would one explain the Hezbollah flag, I am curious? Does your typical John Chesterfield have some concern for a rebellious Lebanese political party? I think the answer rather lies in the fact that Mohamed is the 2nd most common given name in the UK.

What's wrong with his argument is that he is changing the subject. What does the holocaust have to do with Israel and Palestine? He asks this, and the answer is it shouldn't. Since it has nothing to do with it, why is HE bringing it up when he is being asked about the holocaust? The problem with his argument is that he is trying to deflect attention from the fact he questions the accuracy of what really happened in the Nazi death camps.

It's a pretty normal move we see from many of our own political figures, only made more despicable as the question being dodged is the holocaust and he's drawing on anti-Israeli sentiments to dodge it.

It's not fashionable. It's been 60 years since the creation of Israel, and no one wants to admit that the UN made a mistake in dividing the country. Jews in Palestine was nothing new, in the 40's they'd been living there (albeit in smaller numbers) for hundreds of years, peacefully I might add. But as antisemitism grew in Europe and more and more Jews left for Palestine, that's when the conflicts began, but much of those early conflicts were similar to conflicts anywhere you have a large immigrant population, they were over resources and jobs, not who gets what holy land.

That's right, J-Rova. I don't really care why Iran wanted nuclear weapons in the 80's. There's a reason why journalists leave off the first part: Those details lose relevance as time passes. Our biggest concern is (and rightly so) what Mr. Mahoud "Scary" Ahmadinejad wants to do with them today.
