Fallout New Vegas: Wild Wild Wasteland

Bethesda is the company infamous for horribly buggy games.
I guess maybe Obsidian is too, but I've never heard anything like that about them.

Since the majority of the bugs are related to the game engine I suppose so. However if you've never heard of Obsidian in any form, you should know that majority at Obsidian = Black Isle. If you don't have any clue who Black Isle is you should try Wikipedia or something.

No, I know who Obsidian/Black Isle are... I'm just not aware of them having a reputation for half-assedness. The bugs in New Vegas are exactly the same kinda shit you find in Fallout 3, Oblivion and Morrowind so I feel safe in assuming Bethesda is at work.

Caller To Limbaugh: You Invaded My Country. Go Back!

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

I'm just wondering how this show does so well...

Probably a combination of market position and market demand. When the radio show began in the early 90s there was a total vaccuum of conservative commentary. The left wing dominated television commentary and the newspapers - and talk radio was a wasteland of local crap like "Cooking with Celeste", "Gardening with Bob" and similar blase' mediocrity.

So Rush comes on the scene as a conservative firebrand and it filled a huge market void. Most of the U.S. is conservative - not liberal. So conservative people were sick of hearing nothing but liberals talking at each other. Rush said the things they believed in and wanted to hear. Boom. Instant audience.

It established him as the first conservative talker in the market. That gives you brand awareness and top-of-mind. When people think 'conservative talk' they think "Rush Limbaugh".

Countdown to Zero

I remember reading a few articles a couple years ago about how in the past decade we've been minutes from annihilation. The reason is because Russia has a lot of missiles on ready alert but the computers are out of date and they have been reacting and almost firing missiles and our missile systems detect this and get antsy as well. Imagine destroying all of human civilization because of a computer error.

Also I hope they go into the Cuban Missile Crisis story, when we were literally one word away from total nuclear wasteland. We'd basically have no northern hemisphere after that. The story is roughly a Russian nuclear submarine was off Cuba and having depth chargers dropped on it from above. The captain said fire the missiles because it's probably already WW3 up there. Another person the Officer of the whatever stopped him and calmed him down from making this mistake. This one man is responsible for probably billions of peoples lives, he should've received dozens of Peace Medals or Peace hookers or something.

Also Russia is now investing more heavily in it's nuclear program which is states unequivocally is a response to the United States and it's militarism. Also a direct response to the missile defense shield placed in Europe which Russia correctly sees as a first strike weapon.

They have only made one game since quake 3 and that was Doom 3 which I appreciated very much. They have been working on this for at least 3 years so the new Fallout and Borderlands were a coincidence (all influenced by the same culture). The thing about ID games is how the gameplay feels and they haven't let me down yet. As for taking things to another level he wasn't referring to just the vehicles, more like the complete package. Every square inch and character can be uniquely textured, great ID gameplay with RPG and exploring elements. Dynamic animation and AI that understands its environment so the AI characters can and will go whatever it seems they should be able to go... Plus this desert wasteland bit is just a small part of the first half of the game and there should be a fair amount of variation of scenery for those of you freaking out about that. The game just feels more alive than other games with similar level of graphics... Something about their artists and engine I suppose.

Thank god they made a wasteland big enough for some adventurin', but not so big us console players would get lost. I kept getting lost in Oblivion! I'm lost now, and I'm home! Help me, id!

Love the auto-aim/lock-on on the vehicle gun! Aiming is hard, too! Shit, I wish these damn gamepads had only one or two buttons! Trying to remember which button does what makes the game feel like a PC game (ewww!). I think PC gamers are just control snobs with all their KEYS and stuff. You need a goddamn GED to remember all that crap! Nooo, thank you!

Looks cool...but why can't comment writers stop copying each other with the freakin' self refferential post format? This comment sounds exactly like Jaaces and teebeenz' combined. I'm getting tired of reading through these ironical templates and would rather enjoy a different meme for once in this half of a day.

The gaming industry is a gargantuan bandwagon train, almost to the same extent as the movie industry. A while ago the fad was WWII shooters, then it was sandbox games, particularly GTA-style (think Saints Row, Just Cause, Prototype, Infamous ...), now you could say it's arcadey modern day shooters (MW2, Medal of Honor), and post-apocalyptic games (Fallout, Borderlands, Rage). Here's hoping after Deus Ex 3 comes out, it will be cyberpunk.

Low-Tech Solution To Gulf Oil Spill Looks Surprisingly Good

pho3n1x says...

i'm sure if the straw/hay was clean, it may eventually sink when the water fills the voids in the porous hay. however oil floats... so chances are (non-scientific opinion incoming) oil-laden straw would float.

saltwater is more dense than freshwater (SW = 1.025, FW = 1.0), so it's even more difficult to sink hay, let alone oil soaked hay.

and regarding the solution proposed? why not? i mean, if our choices are 1) possible failure on cleanup at the cost of beef/milk prices rising, or 2) Gulf-coast wasteland... HAY, give it a try! (*groan*)

edit: apparently this idea is already in place using hair, nylon fibers, etc. not entirely sure on the reliability of the link, but here it is anyway: http://www.matteroftrust.org/

Americans - Where to live when the USA economy collapses

Great, good, fine... whatever.

What I really need is a map showing where I should build my real life version of Bartertown, so that I can start growing my own post-America empire in the wasteland.
