San Francisco Leaders Question Reasons Behind Store Closure

newtboy says...

No question now, evil corporation that lies constantly and panders to anti American extremists.

Because of their evil extremist anti choice pandering, California just cancelled a $54 million a year contract for drugs for prisoners.
Expect more to come, Walgreens is done in the 4th largest economy on the planet, California.
State government health plans will likely be next to ban Walgreens.
California (and other states) customers are boycotting…those few that still shopped at Walgreens in the first place.

It’s idiotic to pander to a failing cult and turn off your biggest customer base….like Tesla and Twitter. All 3 turned hard right directly into the sewer. Bye Felicia. We’ll be better off without any of you.

San Francisco Leaders Question Reasons Behind Store Closure

newtboy says...

Democrat’s policies created the insanely great economic opportunities that made Walgreen think it was worth opening 22 extra stores in a small city. Now, high rent (because SF is an insanely popular place to live) and over saturation are obviously more costly than a minor increase in petty shoplifting.

Be clear, Walgreens isn’t closing all their SF locations…which they would if it was just about shoplifting. There are still 20 open locations in the city. 42 was just insane.

This reminds me of Texan politicians calling California an economically failed state, when Texas barely broke even in 2020, lost money in 2019, and California had a $36 billion surplus and supplies services.

Shoplifting Running Rampant

Since the passage, retail stores have reported a spike of 50 percent in shoplifting. In many cities, like San Francisco, it is almost ignored by the police because it is a waste of time to try to catch the suspect.

Walgreens and CVS have closed multiple locations in California cities because of the losses.

As much as @bobknight33 spams far right stuff, it is understandable to consider this suspect. But in this case, it is actually a major epidemic.

Not buying into the description. I'd love to see some actual solid proof of what the description insinuates.

Jim Bakker: Ask Angels To Help Trump

SDGundamX says...

You know, I went on a roller coaster of emotions watching this.

First, I felt mildly amused by the lady who claims to be able to see angels.

Then I felt pity for everyone up there that seems to believe her.

After that I felt a bit of anger, because I remembered that this guy Bakker is an ex-con who swindled his congregation and possibly raped one of his secretaries and yet somehow here he is on TV again preying on people desperate to find meaning and hope in their lives.

Then I felt disgust as I remembered the news from the other day about the teen denied birth control from her Walgreens pharmacist because he claimed a religious objection to filling the prescription and that in many places in the U.S. it is perfectly legal for pharmacists to do so.

The only thing that eased my mind after this is that young people in the U.S. are non-religious in record numbers and that these numbers have steadily increased and will likely continue to increase going into the future. The quicker organized religion dies out, the better off we'll all be.

Is Obamacare Working?

JiggaJonson says...

@everyone
Part of the reason, I should point out, that her care cost so much is because we don't have enough government intrusion @bobknight33

When I look at the bill for her formula for example, it apparently cost my insurance company $750 to buy one can of formula (in bulk, mind you) when I can walk down to Walgreen's and get the same can for $20~.
It's truly baffling and if requested I can post pictures.

Why is this? It has to do with insurance companies and negotiations about prices through the hospital. Those prices should be capped with a law, but they aren't.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words. She's doing well and just had a first birthday, but we have 3 appointments a week and another few here and there that each have their own $$$ amount attached. I REALLY would be in the streets if we had to pay for all of this alone. Even if they didn't drop us because of the pre-existing condition, she's reaching what would have been her cap for care of 1 million dollars. Obamacare did away with those too. :-)

Thanks Obama!

TSA: please verify that your used cane is not a sword

bremnet says...

I am often befuddled by the logic of what's allowed and what's not, and the seemingly arbitrary choice of same by different TSA employees... The cane that Ms. Robotcow is holding in the opening sequence looks like it might be able to inflict some serious damage by anyone skilled in the art of baseball. On a flight to Canada three weeks ago, we were not allowed to carry on a short (fits in the measuring device) 4 piece fishing rod with spinning reel attached, in a soft sided, zippered travel bag. Seemed they thought it could be weaponized. Thankfully, our driver was close enough to retrieve the offending package and take it back home. Oddly, on the return to USA, my fingernail clippers were confiscated as they had a fold out file - these were just good old Walgreen's, have carried them for 7 years and approx. 100 flights. I could do more damage with a key, a pen, a plastic knife or a wooden pencil. I also carry a beautiful blue machined aluminum pen/kubaton from Smith & Wesson, which is pointy, but hey, it's just a pen. I do give the TSA high marks for consistency in the application of inconsistent policies. Well done everybody.

Walgreens Pharmacist Fired For Firing at Armed Robbers

VoodooV says...

I don't understand why they have to fire him...just enforce the anti-escalation policy. It's not like the criminals are going to say "gee, they did fire that guy who shot back at us...maybe that Walgreens isn't so bad a company, we shouldn't try to rob from them again.

Just sends a shitty message, The defense attorney makes a great point. Submit and risk getting killed or get fired and lose your livelihood.

Of course, carrying and firing the weapon creates the same risks though too. I really want to support concealed carry, but for every one person who would use conceal carry responsibly, there are ten fucking idiots who would do something stupid. Too many fucking wannabe cowboys and heroes

Walgreens Pharmacist Fired For Firing at Armed Robbers

shagen454 says...

Oooo, I have a fantastic Walgreen's story. My friend was in Walgreen's getting some prescription medicine when an african-american woman was detained by Walgreen's staff for theft. She was yelling & making a scene & the employees handcuffed her to a pole.

My friend FLIPPED out on the Walgreen's staff surrounding the woman they were holding captive - I forget what he said since I wasn't there - I'm pretty sure he was telling them to let her go, they have no right. He probably went on a Zizek-esque political rant.

Anyway, a couple of days later was the World Series, in which we won. The streets became a riot, people were burning buses, people were running over crowds of people in their cars, it was crazy. My friend happened to be witnessing the mayhem unfold down Market Street. He was passing by that Walgreen's with the entire affair still burning him up on the inside - when he noticed one of the people that had taken part in this incident standing by the entrance to the Walgreens also watching the mayhem unfold. He walked up to the guy, "Hey, remember me, motherfucker?" And then proceeded to SHOVE HIS WHOLE HAND DOWN THE GUY'S THROAT. Haha! Bizarre. This is only one of the reasons employees at large corporations should just let 'em go & let security deal with these issues.
