Clinton - Buttoned Down Disco

Farhad2000 says...

I watched this video once back around 2000 or so, and I just loved it! But it was so obscure extensive interweb searches yielded nothing, not even a mp3 or related song, most retailers didn't even list an artist named Clinton.

But the video and song really stuck with me, finally around 2003 I found the song on the internet. But that made me long to watch the video once more, I watched ridiculous amounts of MTV, MCM and VH1 in those days and no one showed it I didn't even try searching for it online because at that time video was not all that huge. Finally I thought it was done for and pretty much gave up. Then this month it came back to me again and finally a search yielded the video online. I watched and felt a long journey completed finally.

I don't know what exactly about the video struck me that I kept it in my mind for such a long time. But I uploaded it to share with the VS community. Enjoy!

Eric Clapton and Friends: Layla

mlx says...

Yeah, silvercord, the original recording of Layla absolutely rocks. I did look for a Derek and the Dominoes version. And I was NOT going to post his VH1 Storytellers version...that another song entirely.

If we strangle the sift anymore we are gonna remain a niche.

If we let the sift evolve naturally with current standards it would only push users to explore the collectives system to find what they click with.

VS = MTV, Collectives + Playlist = MTV:2, VH1 et al.

The Who - Shakin' All Over

Farhad2000 says...

It's the Who, live in concert. There is nothing else to say.

The Who are an English rock band that first came to prominence in the 1960s. They grew to be considered one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of all time, in addition to being "possibly the greatest live band ever."

The group originally had four members, but drummer Keith Moon died in 1978 and bassist John Entwistle in 2002. The two remaining members, guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Pete Townshend and vocalist Roger Daltrey, continue to perform as The Who. Their most recent studio album, Endless Wire, was released in 2006. The Who are #8 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, #9 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Rock 'n' Roll and the #8 artist of all time on acclaimedmusic.net.

From mod rockers to rock operas to hard rock, The Who reigned triumphant as prime contenders, in the minds of many, for the title of World's Greatest Rock Band. - The Who's display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Robert Johnson = Devil: Bullsh*t "Expose" by Christian Group

Hi-larious. Welcome to the irony-free zone.
I never played my AC/DC records backwards but my religious cousins did..

I wasn't sure this was real.. narrator seems like a perky California VH1 guy. But it's real.. they're also concerned with "MARILYN MANSON AND THE LONG GREASED POLE INTO HELL"... heh. Paging Ted Haggard!

Timbuk3 - The Futures So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades)

Wingoguy says...

I saw these guys get interviewed on VH1. This song is actually about a nuclear holocaust , "so bright I gotta wear shades". They were pretty frustrated that it got turned into a high school graduation anthem. Notice all the nuclear imagery in the video.
