VTOL is not only fuel ineffcient, it also limits your take off load. So if the plane is full combat equipped it will not take off vertically. Instead it will use STOL since Harrier is a V/STOL fighter. It's taken off of a LHD (USMC amphibious assault ship).

However, I don't see why you would bring up them bitching about being there. It sucks. If you were somewhere you didn't like, you'd bitch to.

And yes, My video was glorifying the Marine Corps. The USMC is the greatest military force in existence right now, hands-down. Just because it is engaged in a war that not very many people support doesn't make every Marine a "thug for hire", an asshole, a murderer, rapist or whatever else we get called.

And by the way, please don't make claims that you can back up. This is not the norm. You have zero basis for that statement.
I don't think this is like the torture question at all. This is what your argument sounds like:

No, the Afghanis never attacked us. However, in case you were on the moon in the fall of 2001, Al-Q did. Al-Q Just happens to be based in Afghanistan. We're not attacking their people. We're not bombing their buildings. Yes, that shit might happen in Iraq, but that's not what this subject is.

Well, lemme start with the big ones:
I like being alive. My chances of staying that way are much higher when I'm not being shot at/mortared at/IED'd and such.
I wanted my own life.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my time in the USMC. Even today I was considering reenlisting. But my life wasn't mine. It was theirs. Sure, that's inherent with the job. It offers a lifestyle like no other place can offer.
I think that had there been a base closer to home (I was stationed almost 1,000 miles away) I might have stayed in. Not that I need to be close to home, but it would be nice to get away every now and then, without an expensive flight or long drive. It's just that being surrounded by a bunch of clones started to wear on me. That's why when I wasn't at work, I hardly ever went out, because I would just be surrounded by more Marines.

And the whole not being shot at thing.
