Videosifts Sarzys Best And Worst Movies Of 2015

JustSaying says...

@Drachen_Jager , my man, I can get why you dislike whiny, insecure Kylo Ren (and I hugely prefer him over whiny, insecure teenage Anakin) but have you ever considered that somebody can be very powerful in one area (the Force) and terribly rubbish in another (swordfighting)? Sure, a lightsaber can't become dull from wrong usage but this guys starts hacking at shit when he's throwing his hissy fits. Would a good swordsman do that?
He's wounded, survived quite the explosion, is rubbish at swords and just killed his dad. And you give him crap for merely getting away alive after taking on two people tag-teaming him?

woman destroys third wave feminism in 3 minutes

bareboards2 says...

I didn't listen to the video, I just read the comments. I guessed what the video would say, and the comments 100% supported my intuition.

I'm a "second wave feminist." And guess what? There were plenty of "man hating" women back then, just as radical and separatist and angry as these presumed "third wavers."

And we were pretty angry back then. I was one of the angry ones. Until I understood that everyone suffers under the patriarchy. And until I understood that I had to go thru the mad phase so I could change my thinking. It was a growth process, not unlike being a angry teenage.

And then you grow up.

I find it pretty damn funny that literally nothing has changed in 40 years. I heard these same arguments back then.

It's all good. It is better now. Women have much more freedom than they used to have. (When I was a teenager, a married woman couldn't get her own credit card. Everything was in her husband's name. How fucked up is that?)

And there is work to do, including work that men need to do to break free of the crap that the patriarchy traps them with. Nobody can do it for them, though. It is their work.

Please don't lecture me about not watching the video. I know I "should." But I have 40 years of this crap. I don't need any more.

Why I REALLY am quitting social media -- Essena ONeill

Babymech says...

Well... not to be an edgy cynical teenager about this, but she's doing this while launching a new lifestyle site where she'll be telling her followers (and the new ones gained from this) about living every day as the essential you through vegan beauty and body positivism.

Don't get me wrong - I definitely think that that's better than her previous message... I just have a strong suspicion that her new message will still to a large extent also consist of vacuous crap on the internet.

Find it hard to have any sympathy for someone who's made a career out of posting vacuous crap to the internet, but good on her for getting out of it, I suppose.

How to DMT

newtboy says...

Yes, my teenage years were irresponsible, and a main reason I often chime in to suggest at least having serious knowledge about what you're doing and safety precautions before going this route.

Yes, because it is different for different people, and even different for the same person dependent on their mindset when they take it, it's impossible to be totally 'safe' when taking it, even with full knowledge. You can't know for sure how it will react with you, or how you'll react to it until it's too late.

Making your own, if you're a decent chemist, at least gives you a good idea of WHAT you're taking, but without spectral analysis, you can't know the strength of the psychoactives for certain. Also, that probably leaves you open to more legal trouble for manufacturing a schedule 1 narcotic...more reason to not go in public and take it and get caught.

The fear is that, when someone is having a bad trip, they aren't likely to think straight enough to take something to counter act the effects...even if they're smart enough to have that handy. Unfortunately, a clinical setting is probably also not conducive to a great experience, so 'under a doctor's supervision' isn't really totally helpful or practical.

The quantum mechanics part can be understood, he seemed to have just miss-stated/miss-understood what the experiment was about in his wish to find some science that explains his experience, which may not be understandable.

Cop Flips and Throws Kid Out of Desk Inside Classroom

Below is purportedly part 2 where another officer engages in a fist-fight with a teenager in the classroom (though it's hard to tell if this is the same event; it does seem to be a different kid):

Spring Valley High "Cop" violently assaults black teen girl

artician says...

Yeah seriously, see:
"Did it go too far- yep but the student caused this to happen."

I completely agree with that. When you get to the heart of the matter, I generally find most people agree at some basic level even though they might have completely different views of the same situation or world overall.

I just wanted to know how you felt that was justified, and you clarified, and I agree with you that that it way too far but the girl pretty much instigated the reaction (considering this was all over a cell-phone and then refusal to leave?).

The unjustifiable part I found with it was the overreaction and the level of force. There are better ways to do this, but obstinate teenagers push buttons, and I don't respect authority-for-authority's sake myself, so there's my bias.

Seriously?

She was disrespectful towards the teacher in one sort or another that the teacher had to call for help, in which the cop / school coach came and asked the student to get up and go.

She did not comply with the officer.

The cop was justified... Did it go too far- yep but the student caused this to happen.

debunking the 4 biggest lies about immigrants

CaptainObvious says...

"The decline in work has particularly affected those under age 29, and the less-educated, who are the most likely to be in competition with immigrants. A study by the economist George J. Borjas and others found that immigration reduces the employment of less-educated black men. Another study came to the same conclusion. A recent analysis by Federal Reserve economist Christopher Smith (2012) found that immigration reduces the employment of U.S. teenagers."

Justin Trudeau explains marijuana legalization to a mother.

newtboy says...

Here in California, for well over a decade, it's been far easier for teenagers to buy marijuana than it is for them to buy cigarettes. That backs up his position 100%

Justin Trudeau explains marijuana legalization to a mother.

Barbar says...

I think there is a some truth to it being a gateway drug. But not in the sense that most people think of it. The reason I consider it a gateway drug is because once you start buying weed, you've begun to contact criminals and buy stuff from them. It makes it that much easier to now go a step further. You have the contacts, and you have already mentally accepted breaking the law. If you bought dope at the corner store like beer, the dope smoker would be no closer to harder drugs than the average teenager that buys beer.

However, to say that dope is a gateway drug on account of it's effects on the user makes no more sense than the same argument for alcohol.

Guy gives up added sugar and alcohol for 1 month

shang says...

I'm overweight, had a heart attack 9 years ago when I was 30. I'm on low sodium diet, have 2 cordis brand stints in my chest. Grade 1 diastolic dysfunction from a little scar tissue on left ventricle.

I had severe depression and the heart attack at 30 messed my head up fierce in my thinking. First off I've never had a physical before then and I've never been sick. When my parents caught flus and I didn't they had me tested and I was a 1 in 10 or 100 thousand I forget that are immune to flu. Once a year I donate blood here in Ga that is sent to Emory in Atlanta I get paid $350 for my blood once a year.

But back to heart attack since I never had physical due to never sick I knew I was not eating healthy and used to smoke and nicotine is a vascular constrictor. It triggered the attack and was my last cigarette. It scared the addiction out of me and never had withdrawals.

But my severe mental depression although obese I became scared to eat, I went on starvation diet. I'd drink water but no food at all.

After 5th day I was so weak I couldn't move. Later I realized it takes a lot of calories to move my fatass. But I had a new danger that almost triggered cardiac arrest.

I live alone and was able to crawl to phone and call 911. They first thought it was another heart attack but heart was slowed but no problems. They did blood test and took 7 vials. About 6 hours later was the embarrassment.

Doctor came in, along with psychiatrist, nutritionist, and another counselor. I was hypokalemic. Which means potassium was dangerously low almost fatally low. Which was red flag for usually the stereotypical teenage girl with anorexia.

Took 2 IV bags of riggers lactate, shot of potassium, a little amphetamine to boost blood pressure up to normal and 24 hour observation on regular saline IV.

I still have severe depression due to weight. I have degenerative disc disease in my back so I can't get around very good. My diet is set at 1800 calories yet my I only lose 1 to 2 pounds a month. Extensive testing has shown my metabolism has come to a stop. So even though I eat very little calories and low sodium protein diet with barely any carbs with no metabolism the body only stores it as fat because at zero metabolism the body thinks it has to store instead of burn thinking its starving but its not.

But my cardiologist and general doc are trying an extremely dangerous and risky treatment to try and JumpStart my metabolism. I have to record my blood pressure hourly and go in once a week for ekg and blood enzyme test but they are using a drug not made for this as "off label" use and you aren't supposed to even use it with heart disease but that's the strict monitoring by both my doctors. The controversy is they are using adderall to force my metabolism up. Your body is forced to burn through energy stored, and the idea is once my metabolism kicks back in it should stay up on its own.

Tests look promising its my second week on it and I was averaging 1-2 sometimes 3 pound loss in one month. Now since the low dose adderall trial I lost 5 pounds in 1 week!!!

And that little victory has done wonders for my severe depression. I've actually got hope.

Hero Defends a Defenseless Blind Kid

Jinx says...

The "hero" actually staged the whole thing to get with the the blind kids sister.

Idk. It's hard. "violence is sometimes the answer" is perhaps an inadvisable message to give to teenagers. but yeah, if there was ever a case where it was entirely appropriate, nay, warranted, to get mad and a bit physical, this is surely it. Who would you want to be your neighbour?
