I have no words

newtboy says...

Just about the level of both intelligence and composure you would expect from average science deniers.
The crowd watching this moron like he's a learned professor explaining something amazing and not a crazy person ranting ignorant nonsense while he fondles some girls in front of them is a bit scary though.

Reps. Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz on FISA abuses

newtboy says...

I've seen this game countless times. Make iniquitous , but non specific accusations of nefarious activities, claim to have excoriating soon to be released but currently inaccessible evidence, rant about upcoming mass prosecution of political enemies, move on to the next charge.

No email needed to see the obvious, and I go to sleep at 3am anyway.
Republicans and Faux News (the original fake news) are the boys who cried wolf to the extreme, all credibility long gone. Remember, you gave them explicit permission to lie to you, don't be surprised that they are.

Scott Perry R-PA claims ISIS responsible for Vegas Massacre

newtboy jokingly says...

I have received credible evidence of Daesh involvement.....but I refuse to say what it is because it's really just some idiot on Facebook ranting about Muslims and not in any sense real evidence, and admitting that would make you and me look like racist liars and morons, Tucker.

Chris Hedges On F On Fascism In The Age Of Trump (Nov. 2017)

"It doesn't matter if it's good, as long as it makes money."

CrushBug says...

"Mark Hamill on the latest Star Wars films."

He really isn't speaking specifically about the latest Star Wars films. This is one of many videos of interviews with Mark Hamill in which people try and take things out of context and make it sound like he is trashing the new films. He is not. This video is from 2016 and is posted by an account named "Jar Jar Abrams", if you were looking for any clue as to the intent of this person. I don't know when the interview was initially filmed, but it would be helpful to know when, relative to the release of The Force Awakens.

He is pointing out that Hollywood judges the success of movies only by the money they make, hence Transformers. He notes that companies, such as Disney, buying up other movie companies, should be cause for concern. How will Disney judge success of The Force Awakens? Probably on revenue, since TFA did about $2 billion. Does that make it a success or a good movie? That is actually the point he is making, that pure revenue doesn't judge success. I think his point is more that Star Wars makes a shit-ton of money, Transformers makes a shit-ton of money, but does that make Transformers a better/more successful franchise than Star Wars?

Rotten Tomatoes has most Transformers movies at sub-50%. Are they a failure? The last 2 Star Wars movies are sitting at 90+% on Rotten Tomatoes. Does that mean they are a success? I found TFA to be a fun, nostalgic Star Wars film, but it wasn't The Best Evar. I have seen TLJ twice in the last week. I think it is fantastic, almost as good as Empire, but it still has its problems.

The user review on Rotten Tomatoes for TLJ is 54%. Does this mean the movie is a failure? Or are user reviews just the internet rage machine, concentrated? I am done with aggregated/collected game and movie reviews on the internet. Too much hate, too much agenda-ranting. Nowadays, I have found some game and movie reviewers that seem to see games and movies like I do. I read their reviews and then judge for myself.

The Truth About Jerusalem

bcglorf says...

The video rant is over the top, but so is the reaction to moving the embassy to Jerusalem.

Saying something like "there goes the peace process" is just bizarre.

Can anyone honestly tell me that in our wildest dreams a future two state solution with Jerusalem split down the middle was EVER going to happen? That's like a Miss America speech level naivety.

It sounded like a provocation of the dowtrodden displaced natives and their allies every time to me.
It also sounded like the end of middle east peace process, which is the reason all previous presidents didn't follow through. I guess all that nonsense about Iran being months from a nuke was just that, nonsense, or they wouldn't consider this unless they want Israel to be nuked.

Edit: chances are, he won't follow through because his advisors will explain what a horrible idea it is, and what a giveaway of a major bargaining chip for absolutely nothing in return but trouble.
Nobody knew middle east peace was so complicated!

Donna Brazile: HRC controlled DNC and rigged the primary

scheherazade says...

[editing down to not make wall of text / rant]

Russia is not a hostile power. We are not at war with them, and we are not in any standoff. While that sort of rhetoric generates plenty of sensation for the news, it isn't factually true. We certainly do plenty to antagonize them (placing missiles launchers on Russia's border, stoking the 2014 Ukrainian coup that led to a civil war on Russia's border), and in light of that I consider it understandable that they would attempt to aide a candidate that is likely to be less confrontational.

(Keep in mind that both sides have been hacking each other on the daily for decades. Nothing special there.)

The DNC hack was a good thing for democracy. People should not be in the dark about any candidate's election cheating.

The news argues about things that are not salient.
Collusion is not a crime. That term only comes up for argument's sake, and has no bearing on the legality/illegality of anything in question.

The crime that the campaign is accused of is 'accepting foreign money for elections', which is a campaign funding violation. The argument is that : while Russia appears to not have provided money, the *information Russians provided directly to campaign staff had a monetary value, which makes it equivalent to receiving money.
(*content of said information as of yet not revealed)

Since then, campaign staff has gotten into individual trouble when their individual financial actions have been dug into (namely, laundering), which has led to individual financial conspiracy charges (IIRC).

So, there's no evidence any hack was by request, except that one, highly illegal hack where he repeatedly publicly requested a foreign country hack into and release to show his opponent used then for top secret info...meaning he also requested they hack and release that top secret info. Lucky for us all there wasn't any secret info in them....after thanking them for hacking the DNC on his behalf, and the Russians followed his direction to the letter. To me, that's pure unquestionable collusion in public intended to skew the election for the benefit of a hostile foreign power...or treason. Edit: his claim now that it was just a joke is as ridiculous as the spurned lover who hires a hitman, pays them, and revels in the murder claiming the instructions to murder were a joke. It just doesn't fly.

The email hack was not the first publicly known instance of Russian interference this election, sorry. It might be the first well known to the majority of the public, but there were many known "items" before that. Trump suggested they hack her servers and anywhere the missing emails might be because it was already well known they were hacking American systems on his behalf, clearly and repeatedly....also it was clear the FBI was investigating Trump in the final weeks of the election, but Comey didn't feel the need to tell the public about that, only about the baseless reopening of the Clinton investigation over not new evidence...WTF?

The Game that is pissing off the Alt Right

AeroMechanical says...

Meh. In my experience, for years now, whenever there is a game with nazis in it, there's some idiot, usually some 14 year old kid who is not real clear on the facts, on the Steam forums or Youtube or wherever who posts some rant about how the nazis really weren't all that bad or whatever. It's nothing new and not really something to get worked up about, but given the news cycle, presented an excellent marketing opportunity.

NRA -Freedom's Safest Place

newtboy says...

More views please....but not more votes.
This is a "know your enemy" post.

I, for one, was incredibly surprised that the NRA was SO willing to jump into pure hate based political positions that alienate well over 1/2 the country, having zero to do with guns.
It's worth noting, she is their official spokesperson and this is from the NRA YouTube channel, this is not just some random person ranting, it's the NRA's official position.
