I should laugh; I do this kind of thing at work a lot... millions of dollars worth of equipment and I end up machining some plastic chunks, using a piece of string, some rubber tubing, duct tape and a chunk of playdough to get it all to work.

like choggie says, piece of string and a couple of rehearsals. you don't need cgi.

i agree it is not cgi, that would be total overkill, like using a darkside sniper rifle to shoot a small piece of metal for no reason.
