Why you should be republican (Election Talk Post)

Ron Paul's Next Money Bomb: Tea Party 07

hpqp says...

How do you go from Paul to Palin and Bachmann? The only thing they seem to have in common is their rejection of scientific fact. Is that what you're voting for?

>> ^longde:

Last time, I donated about 1000 dollars to Obama. This time, I will either give that much to Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, or Michelle Bachman. I hope, nay fervently pray, one of them wins the nomination.

The Rise of Something New (Blog Entry by dag)

Bill O'Reilly Sends Producer To Stalk Alan Grayson

EndAll says...

I just got this e-mail from his campaign newsletter:

Dear ---,

On Wednesday, Fox News's professional stalker Griff Jenkins stalked me all day, and then ambushed me, just so he could get some footage of me asking him to make an appointment. And sure enough, Bill O'Reilly put that footage on the air, and I was deluged with angry phone calls from Republican voters who think it's my job to be at Fox's beck and call. This is not surprising. The Republican Party is a now a wholly owned subsidiary of Fox News.

Well, I won't be taken down by Fox's weapons of mass distraction. I'm focused on saving lives and saving money. On Wednesday, on the House floor, I read the names and stories of some of the 44,000 Americans who die each year from a lack of health care.

I did this to honor them. These unnecessary, senseless deaths. That's real news, which Fox didn't spend one minute on. Instead, Fox News hectored me about whether I hurt Dick Cheney's feelings. Enough is enough.

Please join me and show Fox News and the Republican Party that we won't be bullied by them. Show them what's important to us: saving lives. On November 2, one year before my reelection, we will have a "money bomb," where progressives from all over the country are joining to support our reelection. Please pledge to our campaign here:

http://www.CongressmanWithGuts.com

These Republican bullies are opposed to the change that America wants, America needs, and America voted for last year. 88% of Fox News viewers voted for George W. Bush in 2004. Fox News sends a memo to its mouthpieces every day, giving them "talking points" designed to damage Democrats. And they call this "news"!

I am a strong voice for justice, and so they stalk me.

Let's stand together and fight back.

Please show your support at http://www.CongressmanWithGuts.com.

More than 3,000 people have pledged over $200,000 for our November 2 "money bomb," one year before the next election. Show them that the people, united, will never be defeated. Show them that we will have the support we need to get reelected and keep fighting for a better America. Please join us.

It is time to get greed off the agenda. It's time to put conscience back on the agenda. Fox News has a perpetual news blackout on people without health coverage who die from it, people with health insurance who don't get the care they need, seniors who can't pay for the medicine they need to stay alive -- in short, everything that actually matters in the lives of ordinary people. Fox News has a news blackout on everything but fake tea party protests and ambushes in the halls of Congress. Enough is enough.

Thank you for helping us stay focused and save American lives.

Courage,

Alan Grayson

The Missing Story About Joe the Plumber (Election Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

>> ^blankfist:
You tire me out, NetRunner. I cannot imagine even trying to honor your ridiulous claims. Obama and McCain are terrible choices, so I refuse to argue that one should act one way or another because it's befitting of their party to gain a win. That's what you do. Not me.

>> ^blankfist:
Actually, rereading that comment it sounds harsh. When I say you tire me out, I don't mean I tire of our debates. I actually do enjoy debating you, NR. In fact, our PM debates have been some of the most fun I've had on here. You're a great debater and passionate about your party's politics. So, there. I said something nice. Don't tell anyone.

Schizophrenia gets you everywhere. A big Fuck You and a big kiss for you.

My evil plans to help protect voter's rights are too late: the Ohio SCOTUS just did that for me.

To try to pander to your lunatic 3rd party aspirations, I'll repeat some advice I've given previously: if another 3rd party or party outcast (like Paul or Kucinich) gets a money bomb like Paul did, they need to take that money and try to run a campaign that includes TV ads, on-the-ground organization, and a TV-media-interview strategy for having them legitimize you.

Part of why Democrats lost in 2000 and 2004 is because they were up against people who knew how to manipulate the media narrative to their benefit, and the Democrats didn't think that was something they either could or should do (I'm not sure which).

Times have changed. I think the Campaign for Liberty is a possible sign that Paul is realizing that too, I'll be sure if he starts working on getting a libertarian AM radio talk show running.

I also think 3rd parties should try to win some seats in the House, rather than taking futile cracks at the Presidency.

I guess the cynical lesson that's finally been driven into me through this process is that too few people care enough, or are educated enough to even have a glimpse of what policies might be beneficial or harmful -- they mostly go based on the beliefs reinforced by the media they consume.

I know you're a true believer in conservative/libertarian philosophy, but how many people out there voting for Republicans really know what that even is? Joe the PlumberTM sure as shit doesn't. I don't even think Caribou Barbie Sarah Palin does either, and if she does she probably learned it at an Alaska Independence Party meeting.

You guys need another William F. Buckley, who's smart, and charming, and entertaining, who gets on TV and puts the right face on your philosophy. Until that happens, 3rd parties are just going to be a curiosity.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the Republican party as we've known it is about to get shattered. Lots of people are going to be looking at how to reassemble it for 2012. Now might be a good time to get organized to be ready, and get that party back to its roots. I hope Ron Paul wins, but if I had to guess right now we'll be seeing the Mike Huckabee party rise in 2012, and that won't bear any resemblance to a paleo-conservative party at all.

interesting story. and interesting that they think it's possible to buy a tv station with 4 million dollars!

there's too much info, and 95% of people don't want to filter it themselves. it's not stupidity it's laziness. fox comes along to filter it for them, they trust fox to filter it, and then they are in the deadly trap of never wanting to admit they were wrong to trust fox...

so they could come up with excuses all day, but they're never going to stop, think, and say "wow, you just changed my entire life! thanks son!"

did you try the constitutional angle with them? that's hard to argue against... although it does seem a bit "technical" and not "emotional" enough maybe.

who are they supporting?

anyway thanks for the story.

Sketch I feel your pain, I saw my republican parents over christmas who are in Georgia at the moment but are from Texas and they too never even heard of Ron Paul (they mainly watch Fox). When I mentioned both Money Bombs they said "well to raise that kind of money and i still havent heard of him he must be either be incredibly incompetent with getting his message out or a con man who is keeping all that money for himself". I really couldnt get anywhere with them so oh well their old and set in their ways.

Ron Paul Dec 16 CNN Coverage ($6 Million raised in one day)

Grimm says...

funny how this is getting less coverage then the $4.3 million day...it's almost as if the media was interested in it the first time because they thought it was a fluke. now that they see it's not a fluke they want to shy away from it and focus on $500 that was donated by a white supremest which was already old news when the first money bomb hit.

Thanks Fedquip! Well - I guess I considered this more like an intimate support luncheon among stalwart supporters.

If we need to upgrade again - we might go for the front page Ron Paul style money bomb! ("Remember, remember the Sifts of December?")

The only problem is i think his support group is based in Florida since he said his money bomb was out of Miami. This video is in Tampa so of course there is overwhelming support present.
