Be Super Safe at the Office

Supergirl - First Look

CrushBug says...

I never watched Smallville.

I actually agree with you in this general area. My issue, more specifically with Arrow, is that I have found the last season to be bad. I really liked seasons 1 and 2, especially whenever they flashed back to the island. I wish they would have done more of that this season.

Flash has been really tight, in my opinion, in terms of story and characters. Iris has been annoying, though, with her Lois Lane Syndrome, but I can ignore that with all the other good stuff going on.

The first part of the this was weak, but it got stronger as it went on. The music... was wrong and I liked the re-cut video that was done, just for that.

I don't know about that for Supergirl. It reminds me of cheesy Smallville. I like the darker series of Arrow, Netflix's Daredevil, etc.

Honest Trailers - Star Trek Into Darkness (feat. HISHE)

chingalera says...

Couple of things that stood out most:
Michael Shannon (general Zod) apparently took voice-coaching lessons from Jeff Bridges
Superman was considerably less gay this time, and Lois Lane was soft and smooth and girly (plus Amy Adams has the natural reddish-brown hair of the comic book Lois Lane)

Otherwise the damn thing was preposterous....OH, and the CGI of the attack on the city?? Wholly unbelievable (i.e. the segment when Metropolis is under attack and all the central characters at ground zero miraculously survive).

How Man Of Steel Should Have Ended

CrushBug says...

If found Man of Steel to be a good action movie but a bad Superman movie. The Superman in it, just didn't present as heroic to me.

All the flashbacks and early years stuff was fantastic, though. I liked the Lois Lane character throughout, but her character really petered out at the end.

Man of Steel - Trailer 2

Sagemind says...

Okay,

Weaknesses
1). His love of humanity - Absolutely
2). Lois Lane (and Jonathan & Martha Kent)
3). Kryptonite - Proven Absolutely
4). Red Sun or Starless worlds would void his powers but first you have to make him go there.
5). Magic - Can slow him down, but can't kill him
6). Virus X - Kryptonian leprosy, the only form of disease for which Kryptonians had not found a cure (Turns out Blue Kryptonite is the cure)
7). Mind Control - He has no powers against mind control but he is a strong minded individual and has battled this and won before.
8 ). Extreme amounts of force/impact ("Darkseid and a few others have this power").
9). No air/Food/water - Superman could survive indefinitely without food, water, or rest due to the yellow sun's radiation sustaining him.

Shazam - Almost killed Superman with his lightning bolts which are magic
Lex Luthor used a magical artifact called the Powerstone to take his powers away.
Wonder Woman's magic sword can cut him.
Hulk kicked his ass once too but wasn't able to follow through.

Looks like his next major weakness after Kryptonite is Magic. Not all magic though. Only some magic granted by Gods, and then only some gods has the power to affect him. Magic has been able to lay him out but has never stopped him.

Check this forum where they clearly argue it out:

Johnny Carson with Christopher Reeve - 1979!!

mintbbb says...

After Christopher Reeve passed away, 'Aint It Cool News' posted a story (I don't know who the actual author is, sorry), and it really touched me, especially this part:

'At the age of seven years old, I wrote three heroes of mine for their autograph. The only one that responded was Christopher Reeve. 8 months after I mailed it, in an envelope one day came a small 3x5 photograph of Superman autographed “To Harry, Christopher Reeve”.

As an Eagle Scout that believes in Truth, Justice and the American Way… that believed when that man flew, that a man could fly… every issue of Action, Adventure, World’s Finest, Superboy, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Superman… in every word bubble that came out of a Curt Swan's Supes' head, I heard Christopher Reeve. I don’t believe any actor will ever completely own a role so perfectly as Chris owns SUPERMAN. '

God bless his soul! He was such a great man, inside and out!

and the chicken tastes like wood
so you try to play it off like you think you can
by sayin that youre full
and then your friend says momma he's just being polite
he aint finished uh uh that's bull
so your heart starts pumpin and you think of a lie
and you say that you already ate
and your friend says man there's plenty of food
so you pile some more on your plate
while the stinky foods steamin your mind starts to dreamin
of the moment that it's time to leave
and then you look at your plate and your chickens slowly rottin
into something that looks like cheese
oh so you say that's it i got to leave this place
i dont care what these people think
im just sittin here makin myself nauseous
with this ugly food that stinks
so you bust out the door while its still closed
still sick from the food you ate
and then you run to the store for quick relief
from a bottle of kaopectate
and then you call your friend two weeks later
to see how he has been
and he says i understand about the food
baby bubbah but we're still friends
with a hip hop the hippie to the hippie
the hip hip a hop a you dont stop the rockin
to the bang bang boogie
say up jump the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat

When Superman doesn't hold back a punch

Superman II - The recut ending (1:14)

budzos says...

What always bugged me about this scene is Superman's super passive-agression. As if Superman's gonna trip over a pink polar bear rug and drop his glasses in the fire. Obviously he meant to do that. Surprised he didn't pull the ol' "Super-dick in the popcorn" trick.

This was funny, BTW. Now that I've grown up I can see how haggard Margot Kidder was next to Christopher Reeve. I like the way she plays the character, but by the time this movie came around she was no longer as hot as Lois Lane needs to be.

Look, Up In The Sky! - The Amazing Story of Superman!

silvercord says...

Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman is a documentary film from executive producers Bryan Singer and Kevin Burns which details the history of the Superman franchise, from comic book, to television, to the big screen. The story of Superman is told through archival footage, as well as interviews with many of the actors, directors, and producers involved with the Superman media over the years. The closing credits feature outtakes from the Christopher Reeve Superman films, including an outtake of Marlon Brando improvising during the recitation of a poem in a scene deleted from the original version of Superman II.

The documentary was released on DVD on June 20, 2006, shortly before the theatrical release of Superman Returns. A two DVD Best Buy exclusive Limited Edition version was released the same day (extra material on the second disc included Bryan Singer's video journals and 5 official Superman movie poster mini-prints). A shortened version of the documentary was played on A&E on June 12, 2006. Finally, it (along with Singer's video journals) was included as part of the 14-disc box set release, The Ultimate Superman Collection, in November, 2006.

Look, Up in the Sky! features interviews with the following personalities.

Those directly associated with Superman: * Dean Cain (Clark Kent/Superman, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) * Gerard Christopher (Clark Kent/Superboy, Superboy) * Jackie Cooper (Perry White, Superman: The Movie) * Richard Donner (Director, Superman: The Movie) * Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (executive producers and creators of Smallville) * Margot Kidder (Lois Lane, Superman: The Movie) * Bill Mumy (Tommy Puck, Superboy) * Annette O'Toole (Lana Lang, Superman III; Martha Kent, Smallville) * Brandon Routh (Clark Kent/Superman, Superman Returns) * Ilya Salkind (Executive Producer, Superman: The Movie) * Bryan Singer (Director, Superman Returns) * Lesley Ann Warren (Lois Lane, It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman[1])

Those not directly associated with Superman: * Mark Hamill (played The Joker in animated incarnations and comic book fan) * Stan Lee (Marvel Comics heroes' co-creator) * Gene Simmons (musician and comic book fan) * Adam West (Bruce Wayne/Batman, Batman TV series)

Kevin Spacey (who also played Lex Luthor in Superman Returns) narrates the documentary. Mumy and Hamill are also credited as consultants on the documentary.
