I love CK, but I can't even bring myself to hit play, just because of Jay Leno. Ever since that whole Conan business, I can't stand to look at his stupid little (huge actually) face.

My dad is in his seventies and insists that none of the other hosts can deliver a joke like Jay Leno. I'll agree, but not in a complementary fashion.

I can and I have. I didn't realize Gervais was above criticism around here. He's one of my favorite performers, but that doesn't mean I need to be happy and fellate him when he tells a lame joke. When you grow up you'll realize that no one is perfect.


@Yogi - I don't agree that you need to be able to perform in order to criticize. That's absurd.

However, I think @pointykitty is missing the point that he is doing these quite brutal jokes right in the target's face instead of in front of a biased studio audience like Jay Leno. When Leno gets up on stage in front of these people, the jokes are about someone else, or at least toned down.

So no, it wasn't Gervais' best material, but the time and place he said the things he did is at least half the point. He's not making fun of the gorilla from behind the safety of a glass wall, he's there in the cage. That's balls. And a lot of people are conflating that with the word "funny".
