Shrek, the F*** You to Walt Disney - Did You Know Movies

Final Fantasy 7 REMAKE - Trailer E3

Shepppard says...

...So, Square enix has actually been on record for the past.. at least like, 10 years, ever since the tech demo for PS3 came out saying "We don't want to just remake old games for the sake of it. We feel that we need to surpass the stories we've told previously before we decide to possibly re-visit them in the future."

And with FFXV looking like it's probably going to shatter the entirety of the franchise in terms of awesomeness, it seems like they're finally ready to actually remake a lot of peoples favourite.

Mordhaus said:

We can't think up any new ideas, team, what do we do?

How about we do a full graphical remake of FF7

That would be a license to print money from gullible gamers...I LIKE IT!

DOOM - E3 2015 Gameplay Trailer

RedSky says...

I feel like the Doom franchise will forever represent what people generally uninformed about gaming think games are like. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily.

McDonalds manager to applicant - "We do not hire faggots"

Asmo says...

Except the people that work for McDonald's represent them, and Mickey D's is legally responsible for their actions as an employee.

I very much doubt MD's would be able to sue the employee, they would just be dismissed (or if a franchise, might have their franchise revoked).

caiter4 said:

While I agree that this was a crime, and a horrible act of discrimination, suing McDonalds just makes her look like a gold digger. The manager should be sued, because he said it, not McDonalds. McDonalds never would have done something so libellous. Yet they are suing the thing that will get them the most money, instead of rectifying the act by suing the liable party. How is that helping anything, except making her rich?

Ronda Rousey's Thoughts on Fighting a Man and Equality

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Because.. it is trivial. (not to rag on your very sweet comment tho)

In effect, the gender segregation is still present and will be for quite while.

Not to mention, UFC President Dana White's long-standing assertion that "Women will never fight in the UFC. Those types of fights aren't interesting enough".

So yeah, the decision to include women in bantam/lightweight divisions is purely business driven.

The UFC first gained Bantum & Light divisions when they absorbed the WEC in 2010/11.

This was part of Zuffa, UFC's parent company, consolidating their assets following the decline of MMA's popularity. 2005/06

So essentially; Dana & Zuffa realized the easiest way re-ignite interest in the UFC was to include female fighters on the same card.

The alternative being:
Create a separate "Women's UFC" franchise with all the low-draw problems from before + the notorious low-draw attached to women's franchises i.e. - WNBA, LPGA, etc.

Any groundbreaking policies here are purely PR benefits for a company struggling to stay relevant. And moreover, solvent.

So yeah, UFC isn't all-of-a-sudden concerned for the plight of women fighters..

It's just another gimmick to sell seats/PPV.

I'm not really sure why we we're trivialising the fact that they dropped the "women's"/"men's" labels.

Star Trek's Tim Russ Explains Star Wars Day | by Pocketwatch

MilkmanDan says...

I'm a fan of both franchises. Hard to pick which is better; I tend to think that the peaks of Wars beat the peaks of Trek -- but not by much. The lowpoints of both are pretty awful. And Trek has the edge in sheer volume of at-par or better quality entertainment, even though I've only watched TOS, TNG, some of DS9, and the movies.

So to me acting like Wars fans vs Trekkies are like oil and water doesn't ring true, but it's still a funny video.

Thanks for the sift!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser #2

poolcleaner says...

Yeah, I sort of didn't want to bring him up. I'm still reeling from Prometheus... I walked out of each Star Wars and Star Trek film shaking my head wondering what happened. But Prometheus -- there wasn't a single moment I believed I was watching a film from the Alien franchise. Sad memories... sad memories...

On a lighter note, how about M. Night's new flick? Thoughts? Ahaha! Maybe this time the secret ending is that it's going to be a good film.

All of these people are capable of making good movies and television. Where does it go wrong? Why are we being dumped on with horrible, but well meaning movies? Someone tell Hollywood their formula SUCKS. We liked it before there was a formula.

If Star Wars 7 is a piece of shit, does that mean It Follows was my favorite film of the year? That would be hilarious, because I really like that film but mostly for the score. I sort of hope it's my favorite film of the year, with awesome lofi soundtrack and "F Star Wars" as my cited reasons.

The problem with Lost, like Star Trek Into Darkness, wasn't JJ. It was Lindelof. The man's a hack. Fortunately, he's not writing this.

Hockey Fights now available pre-game! Full-teams included!

Come on *Canada get your shit together. Bunch of fuckin' savages

I am however interested in knowing what kicked off a pre game team wide brawl.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Key members of a Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH) franchise have been suspended until the end of the 2016-17 playoffs following a hot-tempered brawl during the pre-game warmup on Sunday.

The Laval Predators, who play in the infamously fight-happy LNAH, were involved in a melee before the puck drop on a game against the St-Georges Cool-FM.

Predators co-owner Eric Lajeunesse, CEO Lucien Paquette and assistant coach Dannick Lessard all received two-season bans on Tuesday.

The eight-team, Quebec-based LNAH, which is considered a "low-level professional league", is known for its outrageous behaviour, with footage of a bizarre on-ice scene going viral seemingly every other month.

Other supplemental discipline, announced on Wednesday, include:

LAVAL: Maxime Bouchard and Clint Butler (suspended for remainder of season/playoffs); Steven Oligny (7 games); Joe Rullier and Chris Cloutier (6 games); Philippe Pepin (5 games); Jonathan Oligny (4 games)

ST-GEORGES: Yannick Dallaire (3 games); Alexandre Gauthier and Jean-Michel Biron (2 games)

Arkham Knight - Ace Chemicals Infiltration Trailer(1)

Jinx says...

Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009) - Rocksteady - 91%
Batman: Arkham City (2011) - Rocksteady - 91%
Batman: Arkham Origins (2013) - WB Games - 74%

When I first heard that Rocksteady wasn't making Origins I was baffled. When I played it I was surprised just how similar it was to City. Well, similar in that it felt like a rushed sequel in the same engine with the same assets. The only thing WB seemed to have added was bugs and poor design choices.

As it turns out, Rocksteady never lost Batman - the reason they did not develop Arkham Origins is that they were developing "an unannounced Arkham game". I guess WB didn't want to wait 4 years to make some more money off the back of recent success. I've no idea if it was calculated, but it's worked out very well that a cash-in failed to dent the reputation of the franchise because WB made their own development team the fall guys...

ps. Is smashing somebodies face into a fusebox really non-fatal Batman? Really?

Star Wars The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer

artician says...

Yeah, this is the authentic deal. Some of those shots look downright amateurish, so I'm guessing they're just pre-postproduction.

I can go either way. I've always wanted to see a new Star Wars with the original cast, so this is a dream come true there. Otherwise Abrams is going to create his own unique beast. It's exactly what the franchise needs but could also take it too far from the core. I was stoked to not hear the Williams theme music plastered all over the trailer, which is a huge first step in separating it from prior films.

the last starfighter updated trailer

RFlagg says...

I'm surprised there hasn't been an updated/reboot of the movie.

While you probably wouldn't use an arcade machine, an online PC game that uses a HOTAS... and perhaps Oculus Rift could be the testing ground. Say something like Elite: Dangerous or Star Citizen. You don't have the kid get into a stranger's car, did Alex never learn "stranger danger" lol. It could actually build into a franchise if you handle it properly...

Furious 7 - Official and Officially Awesome Trailer

ChaosEngine says...

Yeah, I don't get this franchise either.

I saw the first one on TV and it was only mildly terrible.
The second one was the only movie I hadn't watched 8 hours into a 14 hour flight. It was extremely terrible. Switched it off after 20 mins.
Haven't bothered with any of the others.

Furious 7 - Official and Officially Awesome Trailer

gorillaman says...

So when exactly did this franchise get great? I remember a time when credible people couldn't stop screaming about how awesome Fast Five, I think, was, and I resolved to eventually get on the furiouswagon. Tokyo Drift was garbage, I know that much.

Elite: Dangerous - Beta 3

shagen454 says...

This has been a damn good year for games even though a lot of the games that should have been good were really sort of rehashes/boring with subpar indie games, Ubisoft reskinning Assassin's Creed for every franchise (I'm looking at you Shadow of Mordor) and then there are all of the bland ass MMO's that looked decent but ended up sucking (Wildstar, ArcheAge). Not that they're bad, theoretically they are decent games but they just don't have the innovation or oomph.

I've NEVER spent $75.00 on a game needless to say a beta, but E:D is definitely worth it. It's my top game of the year (even in beta form). Closely followed by Divinity: Original Sin (fucking awesome RPG), Legends of Grimrock II (fucking awesome old school dungeon crawler (Ultima Underworld / Myst puzzler), Wasteland 2 (awesome Wasteland comeback) as well as Alien: Isolation (great concept, nailed the visuals & sound -- super intense). And then there was Hearthstone which I definitely spent more time playing than anything else.

But, Elite: Dangerous is stunningly brilliant, best sound I've ever heard in a game- it's so fucking good that I invested in a HOTAS & Oculus Rift (haven't gotten it yet though).

Downloading the update now - can't wait to see the changes.
