Ronnie James DIO in the studio - Pick of Destiny song

BSR says...

I hear you brave young Jaybles, you are hungry for the rock
But to learn the ancient method, sacred doors you must unlock
Escape your father's clutches and this oppressive neighborhood
On a journey you must go to find the land of Hollywood

In The City of Fallen Angels where the ocean meets the sand
You will form a strong alliance and the world's most awesome band
To find your fame and fortune, through the valley you must walk
You will face your inner demons, now go my son and rock

Deported F**king Vets - Klepper

StukaFox says...

My father was a Marine sniper in Vietnam and the only man I ever knew who loved being in the Marines so much, he volunteered to go back there on three tours. When he was medically discharged -- after being shot at least twice -- he turned into a rage-fueled alcoholic, an ardent racist and a hard-hard conservative who loved Rush Limbaugh. He hated everything liberal with an outright passion. I'm sure you can understand why I never talked politics with him.

The one thing, however, we both absolutely agreed on is that you DON'T fuck with Vets, especially those who served in combat. My father would have been furious if he'd seen this. As much as he was a racist, if you were in combat, he saw you as a brother no matter what color your skin. He would have moved heaven and earth to help these guys. I'm both glad and sorry he didn't live to see this video.

(When he died several years ago, he left me two things: his medals and his Rush Limbaugh tie. I miss you so much. Dad.)

Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Republican

cloudballoon says...

Having situations where lapdogs rubber stamping nominees because they're on the same side is "check and balance"?

I absolutely believe if the situation is reversed, I fully expect the same shenanigans from the Democrats abusing their power. That's politics and there lay the core issue.

The SCOTUS should be as apolitical as possible. A system where the people or the other parties CAN get no say by design... that's madness. That's a broken system that need to be fixed.

The founding fathers or the Constitution may have faith in the system. But today, there's ample proof that their faith is misplaced. Hyper-partisanship has FUBAR everything in Washington.

bobknight33 said:

The court was leaning 1 way and now can swing back the other way and you think its madness?

It sounds like our Constitution is working just fine.

President nominate/Senate approve process is the check and balance.

Remembering Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

230-page book called Sex Bias in the U.S. Code, published in 1977 by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
Highlights:

Called for the sex-integration of prisons and reformatories so that conditions of imprisonment, security and housing could be equal. She explained, “If the grand design of such institutions is to prepare inmates for return to the community as persons equipped to benefit from and contribute to civil society, then perpetuation of single-sex institutions should be rejected.” (Page 101)

>Called for reducing the age of consent for sexual acts to people who are “less than 12 years old.” (Page 102)

>Asserted that laws against “bigamists, persons cohabiting with more than one woman, and women cohabiting with a bigamist” are unconstitutional. (Page 195)

>Objected to laws against prostitution because “prostitution, as a consensual act between adults, is arguably within the zone of privacy protected by recent constitutional decisions.” (Page 97)
>Ginsburg wrote that the Mann Act (which punishes those who engage in interstate sex traffic of women and girls) is “offensive.” Such acts should be considered “within the zone of privacy.” (Page 98)

>Demanded that we “firmly reject draft or combat exemption for women,” stating “women must be subject to the draft if men are.” But, she added, “the need for affirmative action and for transition measures is particularly strong in the uniformed services.” (Page 218)

>An indefatigable censor, Ginsburg listed hundreds of “sexist” words that must be eliminated from all statutes. Among words she found offensive were: man, woman, manmade, mankind, husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, serviceman, longshoreman, postmaster, watchman, seamanship, and “to man” (a vessel). (Pages 15-16)

>Wanted he, she, him, her, his, and hers to be dropped down the memory hole. They must be replaced by he/she, her/him, and hers/his, and federal statutes must use the bad grammar of “plural constructions to avoid third person singular pronouns.” (Page 52-53)

>Condemned the Supreme Court’s ruling in Harris v. McRae and claimed that taxpayer-funded abortions should be a constitutional right.

Fathers are not second class parents

newtboy says...

Sadly that's not the way it is in many areas. In most places, the mother is assumed to be the nurturing parent and good fathers have to go to extreme lengths with overwhelming verified proof of years of severe abuse and neglect to get custody over the most abusive mother and even then it's a toss up.

Dad

luxintenebris jokingly says...

whee!

trying to disparage joe when folks can compare him to don? what fun! like trying to bail out a sinking boat w/a sieve.

from mental abilities, leadership qualities, human characteristic - what hell that is for don's demons!

even trying to attack joe's kid while three of the orange pits were involved w/cheating charities! adding eric's removal from his eponymous charity and rebranding (more dirt but will limit for space) it's a no-show for 'father of the year'.

it's like trying to diss the brady bunch while lauding the manson family.

come on t.t. and b.k. sing it! (drop-down click for lyrics)

Dad

newtboy says...

That leaves Trump out of the running on all counts.
(He's a disgusting man, a lecherous father, and disastrous and deadly "leader".)

Projection will get you nowhere. I think you is starting to you memory loss and you needs to sit this one out.

bobknight33 said:

Americans are going to vote for a leader not a dad.

Joe may be a good man and dad but his is no leader.

Most important of all Joe is starting to his memory loss.
Joe is past his prime and need to sit this one out.

Do You Regret All Your Lying?

BSR says...

As a child I played with matches up in the attic of our house. The matches were book matches from a funeral home my father worked for as a part time job when he was off duty as a cop. The cover of the matches had a black glossy finish.

Dad found the matches while cleaning out the attic. Dad called my name from upstairs and I headed that way.

His first question to me was, "Were you playing with matches up here?"

His second question was, "Are you lying?"

His third question was, "Are you lying?"

His last question was, "I'm only going to ask you one more time. If you lie to me I'm taking you down to city hall and lock you up. Were you playing with matches up here?"

He grabbed my hand and turned it palm up. He pulled out the pack of matches and picked up some floor sweepings then sprinkled it on the black glossy cover. And DAMN! wouldn't you know it. There stood a perfectly proud little fingerprint. It matched the one on my hand. (I guess. I never brought a lawyer.)

Out to the car we went. I was on my way to jail which gave me about five minutes to rethink my answer. The closer we got, the bigger my fears grew. He made the last turn onto the street for city hall.

I cracked! "I did it. I was playing with the matches." I confessed.

My answer was my Get Out of Jail Free card.

Many years later I brought up that day with my dad. He confessed that he had no idea what he was going to do if I didn't crack.

My only reply to him was, "You bastard!" We both laughed together.

I was young enough that I'm not certain, but probably around 5-6 years old when I realized my parents, and society, lied to me constantly.

It could have been the realization that Santa wasn't really visiting my house, or other fantasies I realized were just that, fantasies, it might have been the realization that working hard and being "good" doesn't guarantee success like I had been told, it might have been the realization that "better living through chemistry" was more a pipe dream than reality....I'm just not sure exactly which trigger fired that gun.

6 years old was a weird year. It's when i stopped taking people's word as fact, and likely when I became a professional grade cynic.
I think that's also the year I decided having children was abusive and I didn't want to do that to someone.

Denzel Washington speaks out: Where are the Fathers

isomers says...

Empower men to be fathers to their sons and daughters -- or gift a boy without a father your positive presence and guidance -- or gift him the book Pocket Guide for Young Men Without Fathers if there is no positive male role model in his life.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure in 9 Minutes

BSR says...

My father had that same exact radio at the 2:24 mark. I remember listening to the "Thrilla in Manila" fight live between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.

Up vote for the memory.

As if there was ever any question...
Responsible husbands don't raw dog porn stars.
Responsible fathers don't hit on their daughters incessantly.
Responsible businessmen don't repeatedly plan bankruptcies as a self enrichment scheme.

The thing is, since he said it, I now HAVE to question it. ;-)

Ya got to give it Trump. At least he was honest when he admitted he's not responsible.

Perhaps, but if they took after their father, they would save it from man, not for man.
You're welcome.

Kimberly Jones Explains Why People Protest, Riot & Loot

bobknight33 says...

You don't have anything because you haven't tried to get over the past.

Slavery was the norm since Jesus.
The Constitution gave a path to end it.

When you have a chip that big on your shoulder.
When you don't have a father in your family.
When you blame others for your blight.
You are left with little chance of personal financial progress.

What I find odd is that the BLM movement is Global. Since this is indeed Global then this is not an White racist America problem, nor European racist issue. The whole white globe can't be at fault for the blight of the black. So the true question is What is the Black doing to better themselves? Or are they just screaming poor little ole me? Or is the truth really is that blacks are fucked over just as much as everyone else but used as political pawns. Since a black can achieve / become whatever they want in life, I think the latter is the correct answer.
