Man "forgotten" in DEA custody for 5 days
War on Drugs = War on Freedom
War on Freedom = Terrorism
DEA = Terrorists.
See how easy? Also hilarious, this pot user ends up introduced to Meth by the DEA, forcefully.
Any more absurdity and I'm going to have to pay an insane amount of money to be educated WHY this system is a failure. Oh.... dang....
bradley manning didnt get any speed.
Operation Sudden Fall: DEA drug bust at San Diego State U.
Unless you are trying to kill yourself the main reason why people overdose is because of substances being unregulated because of the drug war. So because of one overdose they do a drug war sting resulting in 100 more people's lives being messed up. Oh the irony.
Will Obama Legalize Marijuana If He Wins Reelection? -- TYT
>> ^Boise_Lib:
I have a way to get around Obama's objection about ending the drug wars. He said that if we legalize it in the USA drug cartels would take over other countries. They would--if we just open the borders.
Instead completely legalize it, with a provision to not allow foreign imports for 10 years. This would give the US time to stabilize our cannabis economy and cut the legs out from under the cartels. When we can grow our own, or simply buy it, there will be no more cannabis crossing the borders.
Similar to my thoughts on the matter, but with an addition of a 10 year dis-allowance for foreign imports. I hadn't considered that.
Now that i have, i think it's a great idea on the basis that as you stated would give time for the internal stabilization to occur as well as giving a decent amount of time to stably wind down the amount of resources that is currently dedicated to fighting it internally, and redirect their attention to resisting external imports during the 10 year dis-allowance while the dedicated forces are realigned into alternative programs, or if necessary/reasonable, largely cut.

STOP THE DRUG WAR
Obama Tougher On Pot Than Bush - Oaksterdam Raid -- TYT
A successful drug war would be self-defeating for the DEA, who rely on drugs to exist and persist.
Edit: Duh.
Marijuana Legalization Support At All Time High - TYT
and i'm pretty sure Obama is bright enough to understand that the drug war is a bust, and that many many brilliant minds including Sir Francis Crick (modeled DNA while on LSD) and Steve Jobs (acid head) have essentially used (to the great benefit of humanity) what amounts to "smart drugs"
but Obama is in the business of maintaining a vast Empire. This supersedes his tendencies towards logical policy.
Division is how the ruling elite maintains their order.
and Obama is the public representation of the ruling elite.
The solution remains in an informed populace.

America has some of the highest rates of crime and imprisonment of most developed nations per capita.
I bet most Americans don't even know that... or believe that the freedom and democracy makes the US a safer place to live.
America has these high rates for the same reason we have a "drug war" and repeated conflicts throughout the world. Because it pays AWESOME for the people who lobby our government.

Anonymous Exposes Ron Paul
>> ^GenjiKilpatrick:
Heh. I thought the obligation of the police bit was rhetoric.
Nope, it was an attempt to get you to remember something, anything, about the era that led to the Civil Rights Act.
It means going back to a time where this happens anytime one of those "out-groups" shows their face in the wrong place.
You're going to have to explain to me why that's justice, and why that's freedom, because it looks to me like violent oppression and a criminal deprivation of liberty.
>> ^GenjiKilpatrick:
You're always talking about how we can harness the power of voting & democratic systems to eventually overcome things; and you're almost guaranteed to make actual progress thru those means if Paul were POTUS.
Paul is antithetical to "progress." His vision of a perfect society is an America where we unwind everything that's happened in the last 100 years. Possibly more, depending on how seriously you take his position on the Civil War.
There are a couple issues where, purely by accident, Paul agrees with me. I want the war in Afghanistan to end because I think it's stupid, not because I think America should never get involved in international politics. I want the drug war to end because it's a terrible way to solve the problem with substance abuse -- universal healthcare would be a lot better. Paul is just as mad about the drug war as he is about the FDA (or the EPA, for that matter).
Ron Paul stands in steadfast opposition to everything I care about. Even on the issues where we seem to agree, we turn out to be miles apart when you get down to the details.

So why are you letting a little thing like Gasp a Racist Conservative Republican, stop you from acting in your own best interest.
[Since you're neither black nor gay. I think you'll be okay either way, @NetRunner]
To quote MLK, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Even if all I cared about was my own ass, the "freedom" to discriminate against black or gay people would also mean people have the freedom to discriminate against whites, or men, or straight people, or liberals, or atheists, or gamers.
The protections against discrimination protect me as much as it does any given out-group.
Ron Paul signed off on racist newsletters, associates say (Politics Talk Post)
Ta-Nehisi Coates says it well:
All parties agree that Ron Paul is not, personally, racist and that he didn't write the passages. This is comforting. I am not an anti-Semite. But give me a check to tell Harlem the Jews invented AIDS, and I'll do it.
As I've said before, we all must make our calculus in supporting a candidate or even claiming he is "good" for the debate. But it must be an honest calculus.
If you believe that a character who would conspire to profit off of white supremacy, anti-gay bigotry, and anti-Semitism is the best vehicle for convincing the country to end the drug war, to end our romance with interventionism, to encourage serious scrutiny of state violence, at every level, then you should be honest enough to defend that proposition.
What you should not do is claim that Ron Paul "legislated" for Martin Luther King Day, or claim to have intricate knowledge of Ron Paul's heart, and thus by the harsh accumulation of evidence, be made to look ridiculous.
TYT - Ron Paul's Worst Newsletters - Cenk Gives Verdict
How many Iranians will die so that Cenk can avoid having very indirectly supported offensive newsletters? How many more will die in the continued drug wars so his hands can be clean? He disgusts me.

here is what the DEA is planning, and what they really think about this stuff at the current time:
hint: they're not going to stop until no one can get "high" (although that term remains relatively undefined..)
