No Doubt - Ex-Girlfriend

Robber surprised when pharmacist opens fire in CVS

poolcleaner says...

>> ^jwray:
A dumb, uneducated poor man without family connections has four choices, roughly in order of preference:
1. Conforming to every whim of a corporation in exchange for just enough money to survive (and not enough to get an education or proper healthcare). This is better than slavery, but not a whole lot better.
2. The dole (maybe)
3. Theft
4. Starving to death

If economic shit hits the fan and #1 is not available, #2 better be available, or else #3 is inevitable. I'm not saying it's justified, but it's sure as hell inevitable.
Edit:
There is no such thing as counter-causal free will. But that is irrelevant to the criminal justice system because the only rational purpose of punishment is as disincentive to harmful behaviors. In circumstances of extreme starvation (or drug withdrawal, which is the similar psychologically) no punishment is adequate disincentive, therefore the only effective way to prevent theft in those circumstances is to prevent such circumstances through restructuring of welfare and charity programs.

Or you do as many people I know personally: move into a trailer with 4-6 of your relatives/friends. I've been spending some time hanging out with friends who live in a trailer park near Anaheim. These guys who share a trailer all work for either Aeromark or Disneyland, both of which pay pretty shitty but at least they can live.

Oh, that's right, I remember why I was over there: They also make money selling drugs. So, yeah, there's a 5th solution.

I'm a freelance musician/arranger/film composer/music teacher in my mid-30s from Anaheim, CA. My main instruments are drums and percussion, but I also play piano, guitar, theremin as well as many different weird, exotic, homemade and toy instruments. I love music of all genres and have been lucky enough to be able to perform and write in many styles - concert music, jazz, rock/pop, film, world, avant-garde/experimental, etc.

My career has allowed me to travel around the continental US, as well as Hawaii, Cannes, Paris, London and Taiwan, but would love to travel more. Scoring movies is what I like to do most, and what I'm best at, but I don't get to do it nearly as often as I'd like. I'm also a big gaming fan and would love to collaborate on experimental, abstract, musical, dark and/or avant-gard games - if any of the game industry peeps on the sift are interested, pm me.

Issy is my girl and we have two awesome kitties together, Isobel and Frankenbutt.

This reminds me of my last trip to the states. I was in a Fry's Electronics in Anaheim California. I usually like to make small talk with employees in other countries as I did with one girl stocking the shelves. It came up that my friends and I were from Alberta, she responds, and I quote: "Alberta? Where's that? Mexico?". I wouldn't have even expected her to point in out on a map, but I figured average Americans would have at least recognized Alberta as a Canadian Province, but hey, was I ever wrong.

Gotta admire Bure's skill and play style. He did everything at full speed, which then led to an early end to his career after some nasty knee injuries. He was definitely the most exciting Canuck ever. The Canucks could sure use a game breaker like him in their current series against the Anaheim Ducks. So in the current playoff spirit *promote!
