Biden Slams Romney, Ryan For "47 Percent" Video
To sum up:
Biden interrupts to correct lies: bad.
Romney interrupts to lie: good.>> ^shinyblurry:
I think the major revelation of this debate is that civility in our national discourse is officially dead. The troubling part is not that this manic performance is what is substituting for a substantive discussion of the issues, but that many people didn't notice the difference.
Romney blames Obama for Military Suicides
@Payback, Obama wants to increase support for vets, not decrease. It is Ryan who wants to move Vets to a voucher system.
Romney says in the vid that as commander in chief, Obama is just going to "stand by". Despite Obama's explicit efforts otherwise and teabaggers explicit efforts to limit help.
Having said that... here is a truth about military benefits..... you stand to make a buttload of money if you can be discharged from the military with even a 10% disability. Then you have a toe in the door for it to be increased later. My dad is proof of that. Had some back issues that came up during his career military service doing a desk job. Retired in 1969 with 10% disability.
When he was 83, he was re-evaluated to 60% disability which led to more income and some of his existing military pension becoming tax-free.
I know it is Third Rail territory to bring up this issue. But every military person knows that you try to get some level of disability before you are discharged.
It's tough territory. And Romney is still an asshole for suggesting that Obama doesn't want to provide the services needed by vets.

And how is that an authoritative source? It's from a stupid blog...an obviously very biased blog.
none of which even touches my argument about diversity.

The average age (mean) of the speakers at the DNC was 58.66 while at the RNC it was 49.92.
From modicum of insanity:
Of the speakers in the DNC, there were 9 current governors and 5 former governors. 22 members of the House of Representatives, 2 candidates for the House, and 1 former House member spoke. 5 current senators and 2 former senators also spoke.
Of the current governors that spoke, the average age was 57.44. Of the current House members that spoke, the average age was 62.64. Of the current senators that spoke, the average age was 67.2.
Of the speakers at the RNC, there were 10 current governors and 5 former governors. 9 current members of the House of Representatives, 1 candidate for House, and 2 former House members spoke. 7 current senators, 4 former senators, and 1 candidate also spoke.
Of the current governors that spoke, the average age was 50.3. Of the current House members that spoke, the average age was 50.67. Of the current senators that spoke, the average age was 52.83.
I wouldn't count 'em out just yet when it looks like the DNC is the party that's getting a little long in the tooth.

Comparing the two national conventions alone should be enough to convince anyone that the Republican party as we currently know it is in its last years.
RNC: by and large, mostly old white people
DNC: Actual cross-section of America and vastly more diverse.

"Of the speakers in the DNC ... 22 members of the House of Representatives" well they just blew the curve.
As for the RNC convention, I think what we saw was either a conscious effort to "go younger" and entice younger voters, or a symptom of the greater problem with modern conservatism: namely that serious, mature conservatives don't want anything to do with these lunatics.>> ^silvercord:

Indie Game: The Movie - Official Trailer
Your right but back then they were still constricted by programming and memory constraints since the average computer had maybe 128k of ram to work with. I remember programming in Basic when I was like 8yrs old. I remember having to do programs sometimes upwards of 500 lines or more that only ran once and couldn't be saved in anyway. And the finished product was some Pixel Art or maybe a song that played "Mary had a Little Lamb" through a PC Speaker. Granted Basic was a very limited programming language to begin with.
Then there was the gaming crash of 83' that pretty much destroyed those same bedroom coders your speaking of.
It wasn't really till the invention of Shareware which didn't become widely used till the late 80's that things started to get back on track and people had some of the freedoms we are enjoying now with indie games and crowd-funding. Though I see and acknowledge your point about things being cyclical. If games hadn't suffered such a major setback in the early 80's things would have been very different today.

A new age has dawned for games. The ideas of the common man can now be expressed to the world in a way that was never possible before. Free of the restrictions of publishers and corporate giants. Free of the expectation to make the next great cookie cutter FPS or RPG. We can now for the first time in history truly make the games that we WANT to make. We can innovate. We can push the boundaries of the old genres. We can create new genres and we can tell the stories that not only change the industry but change the hearts of the players we strive so hard to reach. This is the second Golden Age of Gaming and I for one couldn't be more excited to see it arrive!
Erm, hardly 'for the first time'.
The first games on home computers, back in the mid 80s, were largely one man jobs. A whole collection of bedroom coders made buckets of money back then creating games for computers like the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64.
Yeah, it then became taken over by the giant media companies, and yes it's now becoming far more accessible for people to be able to code quality games with tiny teams, and have them reach people via the internet and delivery systems like Steam.
But it's a return to that, not a first time thing, it's all cyclic

TYT - CEOs Make 380x As Much As The Average Worker
If I owned stocks in a company that over paid it's CEO by a gross margin like this, I'd be pissed!
Why should I invest in a company that would piss my profit away on the CEO?
Cenk is right, The decision maker is worth more pay. He makes the life or death decisions that affect the company and the jobs of the employees. But don't let it get out of control.
-One-million per year ($83,333/month or $69,444/week) is lots.
-Two-million($166,666/month or $41,666/week), maybe.
-Five-million per year ($416,666/month, $104,166/week), it starts to get out of hand.
-At 55-million per year ($4,583,333/month, 1,145,833/week), it is pure absurdity. That's just robbing and bankrupting.
If a company is making that kind of profit off the backs of it's employees, then it should be setting up better benefits for their employees, profit sharing programs, and re-investing back into the company by creating new products and services (R&D). Those new developments would create new industry, jobs and in turn profit - not to mention returns to the shareholders.
