You're almost right, some few unprofessional doctors say let >75% get it and build herd immunity. They're nuts, that's a guarantee of 10-12 million dead Americans at current reported death rates, and >triple that when you realize that without ICU care the death rate rises to 15%, near 45 million dead, and we are already at and over capacity.

Opening while cases are still rising, in direct contradiction to the CDC AND Whitehouse guidelines, guarantees another shutdown for longer, and the loss of far more mom and pop shops in the long run, so absolutely yes it's worth it.

Edit: in places where it CAN be done safely, including a minimum of guaranteed social distancing, masks, and sanitation at all times, I'm all for returning, but many if not most stores/shops can't, especially with the anti-maskers throwing fits. Our local stores limit customer numbers and some will act as personal shoppers for anti maskers and serve them curbside. We have had 200 cases county wide so far in the highest risk state, so it's working here so far.

Only kids under 10 are lower risk, kids over 10 are the same risk factor as everyone else, and under 10 can still bring it home to those more at risk. Restarting schools in states at high risk, nearly all states right now, is a guarantee of a longer, more deadly, more costly second wave.

So what you're seeing and what you're angry about are the signs which confirm we are in the last days. Our reaction to that should be humility, not anger. These are the last days and the Lord is coming back to judge the Earth. The Lord will cleanse His church like He cleansed the temple; judgment begins at the house of the Lord. Our response to these things should be personal repentance and a determination to take on the responsibility of carrying the message of redemption to all people.

Just about any competition shooter can keep up 0.3 splits for 10 minutes. Go to a three-gun competition near you and ask someone to show you.

Aiming is relative to what you want to achieve. From "spray and pray" to taking many minutes per shot in Palma and F-class. You might take 10-12 shots per minute with a semi-auto at this distance. Others will aim and shoot at 5 to 10 times that rate.

No. That's not how it works. I don't have to prove anything to you (as much as you have to prove anything to me). How about this though - first go read "On Killing" by Dave Grossman, which covers this topic, then go search on Youtube for the many videos (I checked just now and there are plenty) showing how full auto hits much less, (and the shots where you do hit are mainly sub-optimal) compared to aimed fast shots in semi-auto, then go join a gun club and try some competitive shooting. I'd be surprised if at the end of that you still imagine full-auto is what you think it is.

Also fun to watch are videos of guys like Jerry Miculek who can fire in semi-auto at insane rates of fire.

Now, lets be clear, I'm not saying full-auto doesn't have its uses, because it does. I'm taking umbrage with your claim that you have more control in full-auto (you do not) and that you get more hits on target with full auto across a series of targets (you do not).

I don't believe for one second that you could keep up that rate for a full minute, much less over 10. If you take the time it takes to aim a 300 yard shot accurately, you're talking 10-12 shots per minute.

It's silly to imply the full auto functionality didn't exponentially raise the number both wounded and killed. Without the crowd, it might have made less difference. With the crowd, absolutely not imo.

Yeah, it's a bit misleading in the Australian comparison too. That particular car addicted rich area of Sydney doesn't necessarily reflect the rest of the country (or even the rest of Sydney).

A few of the 10-12 year olds at my kids school walk to school by themselves or in small groups (or take the bus a few stops to school). The vast majority are accompanied by their parents, but not all.

Even so, although slightly exaggerated by picking extremes in both Japan and Australia, the cultural difference they point out is real and interesting.
