Leaked NSA Spy Gadgets
If you yearn for more nightmare-inducing details, you can always browse the CCC's YT channel.
At the 30C3 in 2013, quite a few talks covered this spy gear. To Protect and Infect was the most interesting one, if I remember correctly.
Christopher Soghoian: Government surveillance

I had to google that phrase, lol. I too had a bunch of chuckles watching this one. Thank you kindly! I read in one of your comments that you attended 30C3. I had no clue of this event and now I am all over these damn vids. I try not to watch to many at once, but I really crave and enjoy hearing what they all have to share. Thanks again!
"Opus Dei Cum Pecunia Alienum Efficemus"
They've got a sense of humour, I'll give 'em that.
Fmr MI5 Analyst: Wars on Terror/Drugs just Means to an End
I have experienced enormous difficulties trying to keep people engaged.
It was particularly obvious to me when I returned from the 30C3 and talked to my friends about the most important shit I learned over the weekend. They are techies, the lot of 'em, and everyone is keenly aware of the Snowden revelations and their implications.
Yet after 6 months of this, the only ones still paying attention for more than 2 minutes at a time are the folks who don't blank out when I mention ephemeral elliptic curve Diffie–Hellman, aka wierd people.
In order to keep all my non-wierd friends, colleagues and acquaintances engaged, I started to discard any non-encrypted email sent to my private address as well as any calls to my cell without RedPhone after three months of warnings. People can still leave a message on my landline if they can't get their shit together.
But the point is: if even my friends (nearly all in IT) have a hard time dealing with the ongoing and ever more depressing revelations, how can I blame the family down the street for not being indignant about it...
Just because many people don't care doesn't mean that they can't, however. I know I never used to care, it takes time to learn what's going on and what the real issues are.

Yay, someone liked it.
If you're interested, all the talks that were held at the 30C3 were streamed/recorded and will be made available for download on a host of different mirrors, eg here.
I can only comment on the ones I've been present at, but I suppose "The Four Wars", "To Protect and Infect" and "Seeing the Secret State" might be of interest to you if you liked Jacob's talks.
Damn good vid! Thanks for sharing this.

First day of talks is up on YT, including Greenwald's and O'Brien's.

It's been all the rage on Twitter, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Snowden and Poitras also recorded this year's Christmas message for Channel 4 -- and as Jeremy Scahill pointed out:
"Amazing how any time we actually hear from Snowden in his own words, it bears no resemblance to cartoonish depiction of him by commentariat."
I'll be at the 30C3 this weekend and the keynote speech will be held by Greenwald with focus on Snowden/NSA. Alexa O'Brian (carwinb) is scheduled for a talk about the trial of Chelsea Manning and Assange/Appelbaum are due for their annual call for a revolution -- the anticipation is killing me here.
And while we're at it: happy holidays!
Guessing you have already seen this but just in case you haven't.

By the way, this coupled with the reduction in sys-admins at the NSA might be a reason to prepare some more popcorn.
First General Alexander flat-out lied in front of the NSA's most important hacker convention, then they announced their plans to reduce the tech staff by 90%.
Bad idea to piss off the tech guys if your agency depends on the integrity of its network.
Can't wait for the 30C3. After Binney/Drake held their "Enemies of the State" talk last year, there's bound to be more NSA insider stories this time around -- maybe even Snowden via stream.
