Full Queue Freebie: Adbusters

I wonder if anybody else subscribes to Adbusters, it's a magazine that comes in the mail, very informative, if you stop drinking energy drinks for just a couple weeks you'll be able to afford a 15 month subscription. Anyway, I check out their video section every now and then and this one came up today. I have a full queue (ahem) so I invite anybody to sift this one up.

I was actually surprised doing a search here on the sift, I noticed nobody has ever sifted an Adbusters clip. I could have sworn that I had, but alas I haven't. For those not familiar with adbusters, they are the ones responsible for most of the "Buy Nothing Day" information that makes it to the mainstream. CNN Spoke with Adbusters last year about their role in the BND campaign. So below is that interview with the Editor of Adbusters, it also should be avail for sifting goodness, as well as the whole youtube search result. Enjoy. (heh, notice how they hold the interview at the END of the day...baby steps I guess)

That CNN clip is mindboggling. Cognitive dissonance much?

I don't always agree with adbusters, but I do think that it will take some kind of shock therapy to get the overconsumptive world out of the growth mindset.

I used to work in an advertising agency. Occasionally I'd bring in a copy of Adbusters, and when no one was looking, I'd just leave it lying around (the nearer to reception, the better). I'd also deface the regular magazines because they were so unbelievably offensive.

No one cared, no one noticed, no one wanted to talk about it.

I eventually quit that job because I felt like I was contributing to the construction of an immoral, exploitative world (in a very small way admittedly), and because I was surrounded by people who either embraced that world actively, or paid no attention or thought to the issues at all.

Sorry for the rant. I know it's ridiculously melodramatic but after five years there I felt totally hollow and numb.

Thanks for the vid Jeff. I appreciate the help and it's a great meme to spread. I remember the first Adbusters I ever picked up, Systematically Distorted Information, and it's stayed with me for a long time in a way view other things have.
