This has happened a few times,
Someone posts a video and sails straight to the top of the list to get top ten or even number one.
Then they find out they have posted a dupe that for some reason or another (doesn't matter), it got missed.

Now their find becomes a dupe and they loose all recognition, votes and so on.
Not only that, but the original poster gets all their vote points.

I know you shouldn't post a video that is already posted but the fact is - it happens.

eric3579 duped my video and all his points come to me. Now in the name of keeping a clean sift, I get the post duped and I aquire all his vote points and his high ranking post disappears into obscurity. It may feel great to some to steal all those votes but to me and others, we feel like a Scmuck.

There should be a system where - once duped, maybe the second poster gets to keep half the votes (or something).
And maybe you only get a limited number of these "Grace" dupes - maybe three total ever.
We need to have a system that can't be exploited and abused. The the system needs to honor the original post and the system should feel somehow more fair to the person who accidentally posted the dupe.

There has got to be a way to balance this out - any ideas?
