The Strangest Elevator In Italy

Tom Scott: "Continuing the occasional Weird European Infrastructure Tour: an Italian lift that switches direction from horizontal to vertical. And honestly, until someone pointed it out to me, I could not figure out how this could possibly be done safely. In hindsight, it was kind of obvious."

It's Italy; there will be a beautiful view, something tasty to eat or drink, and if you are lucky, pleasant people with a tremendous love of life who persevere despite the fact that their country is a little bit broken.

My immediate question was... is it free?

Costs $$$ to go up the Seattle Space Needle and it is much less engineered than this puppy.
