Sorry I didn't see your comment 'til later, I was away for a while - I just made a reply now though.

In reply to your comment:
I still wonder what are the fundamental differences between BJJ and Jiu Jitsu. Is not the reason BJJ is more often referred to when discussing the sport because the fighters and schools from Brazil have been so successful?

I am in no way denigrating what we know as BJJ, but is it not just Jiu Jitsu practiced and taught by brazilians? I say this because I think the Japanese fighters in the clip would be more likely to call what they are doing Jiu Jitsu.

This of course leaves out what the brazilian schools may have added to the judo and jiu jitsu taught to brazilians by Esai Maeda, as there has been a long interval of development in Brazil..

What the hell are these t-shirts everyone keeps talking about? And I was fixing the picture - stupid VS uses the small size picture per profile but the thumbnail size per comment.

In reply to your comment:
Keeping up with internet memes is about as self masturbatory as wearing the t-shirt of your favorite band. Not to mention that it's broken now.

That avatar, I'll have you know, is part of a wide-spread internet meme, in keeping with the term as coined by the eminent Richard Dawkins, so it is indeed amusing and culturally relevant. And, if you'll take the time to notice, I currently, in fact, has a karot.

In reply to your comment:
The strength of your words fail to carry muster considering your avatar is Kermit going "I has a shuvel".

In reply to your comment:
Listen, you pinko-commie-hippy, you're lucky I'm so culturally-attuned.

Those are the two I have on my Flickr account. There's a bunch of them, it's a whole "i has a *blank*" meme thing.

In reply to your comment:
Theres more?!?!? Where are they?

In reply to your comment:
Thanks! I'm planning on going through the whole series of "I has a".

As much as I enjoy MMA, I wouldn't upvote because it's an entire fight, and I don't particularly see VideoSift as an archive site or anything and this isn't the fight to end all fights.

But ignoring that, this is a self-link. Please read the rules, this is a naughty, naughty thing to do. Please discard this video and find yourself a new probationary video.

Nice to hear a voice of reason around here.

In reply to your comment:
Tony Jaa would be the first guy to say that what he does in the movies isn't 'real' Muay Thai - I've seen a couple of interviews with him where he's pointed it out. Some of it is a reasonably fair representation, but the acrobatics and the jumping kicks are much more akin to wushu, capoeira, free running, or tricking.

The guy has an undeniable talent, and I really loved Ong Bak. The Protector (aka. Ong Bak 2) had some great fights, particularly the 5-6min one-shot scene that southblvd mentioned. The problem with The Protector was that it was seriously malnourished on plot - even by the (not high) standards of martial arts movies.
