The dangers of a Russian energy superpower

vil says...

Trump was right about the pipeline. There.

Except Trump being right about something has zero information value because he was wrong about so many things. Cherry picking and whataboutism only gets you so far.

Even Germany is now somewhat reluctantly coming around.

How exactly would Trump stop Putin I wonder? Any ideas beyond wild guesses?

There is no excuse for what is happening in the Ukraine now, there is no propaganda that can put this on the shoulders of anyone but Putin.

The danger in this situation is powerful people in the west are being friendly to rich russians and apologetic about the Russian regime. Business deals are less important than national safety. Being best buddy with Putin does not give Trump the power to stop him.

Why I’m ALL-IN On Tesla Stock

newtboy says...

Yes, but day to day you don’t know if you need .05 of one for groceries or a wheelbarrow full. It’s unstable. That’s the entire point I’m making.

Unsecured “tokens” with no intrinsic value (like gold has) are only worth what a moron will pay….today. That varies wildly.

Gold is worth what nations have agreed is it’s value worldwide (with minor local variation)….and it has actual uses, and a finite measurable volume.

That is a pretty solid definition of exchange value. You can go shopping with that.

You know, the IQ test doesn't really measure anything useful, has crazy limitations, and often produces inaccurate and wildly variable results, right?

There is one thing people in the early 20th century used it for tho, it's not surprising that you, sir, are fond of it

Find a Engineer with IQ less that 90.

Biden Economy is doing great. Would be better if lock downs were eliminated.
We can thank Trump for it due to the tax cuts which stimulated strong growth. Democrats wold raise they if they could and then we could go back to the appalling 1.5 20% GDP rate under OBAMA.

Biden and the Democrat party are so out of step with what Americans want that they will get a beat down in the mid terms. Do yo not see this coming?

Even main stream media is coming to this conclusion. And they carry the Democrat water day in day out.

Tesla not in a bubble. They will crush legacy auto makers this decade.
They are gowning 20% qtr/qtr and 70% YoY .

I have about 1400 shares and have no plans to sell for 5 years or so.

Eagle Crashes Through Car Window

Eagle Crashes Through Car Window

Let your imagination run wild.

I like to think the driver jumped out of the car and the Eagle car jacked it and sold it for some crack.

The guy pulling the plug on the girl with the light laughs like Muttley.

Clickbait! Um, there's more than an eagle crashing through a car window. So, what happens after the crash?

@bobknight33 We need to revisit all the school shootings then, if one can do something illegal and as soon as someone pulls a gun on THEM - HECK! maybe they were just defending themselves Wild West style?

vil said:

Yes, that is what I meant, as soon as he was approaching with an openly carried gun, wild west rules as I understand them say the moment he attempts to aim at anyone he is open game for anyone who can draw faster.

If you desperately want to live in the wild west that is.

I am totally lost on whether I should be using the sarcasm button on these posts. I am being sarcastic. I believe some form of gun limiting federal law is the only way out of this mess. But then the sarcasm does not make my claim invalid.

I knew an american who came to Prague (turns out he is still here and is still a film producer) who would carry his gun around all the time and randomly pull it out and show it to people at business meetings and in pubs. I thought at the time (early 90s) dude this is SO embarassing. Regular manners in a civilized society since roman times dictate that people do not carry weapons unless danger is imminent. You only carry weapons if you are directly employed to be in dangerous situations, otherwise you are putting yourself and others in danger and appear to be a reckless fool.

So if the USofA consider themselves the wild west to this day, then it is understandable that Kyle was let go, and I say disarm him or shoot him before he shoots you.

Hit him with that skateboard, only harder!

On top of the other grand juries investigating Trump’s businesses for multiple kinds of tax frauds, a new grand jury has now been convened to investigate Trump’s personal bank and tax fraud schemes….that scheme being reporting one ridiculously minuscule valuation to the IRS for tax purposes, and another wildly inflated estimated value to banks for loan purposes. Keeping two sets of books. There’s absolutely zero doubt he’s done it for decades, he’s bragged about it often and it’s public record now. Those are major felonies thanks to the dollar amounts involved….the kind of thing that took down Capone….massive tax evasion.
This is the case to watch.
It’s going to be difficult to run for president from prison….just sayin.

Bulldog Has Incredible Reaction To Actress In Trouble

newtboy says...

You didn’t explicitly say it, but you are incredulous that they would go after something small. Same argument, different angle imo….and a common misconception.

In the wild, or in captivity with others, yes. They would absolutely compete for a mouse. In my monitor’s later years I got a second monitor, I had to feed them separately because they would both go for the same mouse and end up accidentally biting each other’s heads in the process.

Fight?….that depends on your definition. Not like movie dinosaurs, but watch any clip of Komodo dragons feeding, or gators going after a single chicken carcass. Reptile mass feeding is rough, but rarely deadly. It’s not uncommon for gators to lose limbs in a feeding frenzy, for instance.

bareboards2 said:

I never said that large dinosaurs would only go after other large dinosaurs.

Would your monitor fight three other large beings for a single mouse?

Cathie Wood 1700% Tesla & EV Growth WRECKS Legacy Auto

JiggaJonson says...

Don't get me wrong, I want all electric vehicles on our roads; but your lord and savior made it harder to buy Teslas https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxevb.shtml by allowing the tax credit to expire during his term

"Tesla vehicles purchased after 12/31/2019 are not eligible for these tax credits."

Hmmm who was president in 2019? Dunno. Dems are working on a plan to restore the credit to Tesla and GM, but I assume it'll be killed by McConnel and Manchin

Even WITH the tax credit, it's a hard buy for most of us. I just finished paying off my first new car @ about $25k, but I DO make trips longer than 250 miles in a day somewhat regularly. So even the $40k model wouldn't do for me. $52,000 is simply out of my price range. Shit, even 40k is too much for me. SHIT even 35k is too much for a person without a car payment as of a few months ago. No thanks.

I'm gonna ride this car until the wheels fall off, I get 43mpg and I'm satisfied with that.

Tesla stock meanwhile seems to vary wildly. Go get some boring mutual funds brother. Easy come easy go, they say.

US sues to block TX abortion law

newtboy says...

If people who see it daily call it a heart beat, then clearly reading a book is better, because you can't get a heart beat without a heart, and a valveless, chamberless tube that doesn't pump isn't a heart. If you look at a straw day in and day out and you start to see it as a heart, actually seeing it is worse. If you go to school and say you see the heart at 6 weeks, you fail.

Jebus. Double negative and heart best? Are you drunk?

I do think +-90% of them know, 10% believe they hear a heart beat because they can now detect a faint nerve signal, but no heart. That 10% are fooling themselves to avoid contradicting their beliefs with medical fact.

What bubble? Did I say they didn't? That doesn't make them doctors. Lab techs do the same...mri techs, even x-Ray techs in some places. Would you let a tech determine your treatment plan, or even diagnose you without a real doctor involved? They aren't even nurses, they know how to run the machine and spot certain results for further investigation/treatment. The doctors review and often edit the reports. If a report of a 6 week pregnancy talked about the heart, that tech would be let go for incompetence. There is no heart.

Dumb fuck, you asked me how many I've talked to. I answered, with an explanation of why I’ve met many. Now you act like I brought it up to say I know some, so I am one?! Are you on meth?

Mom worked at Texas Children's hospital and Methodist hospital in Houston, so yes, those specialists and many many many more, and being curious I asked them lots of questions.

Because my mom worked at a childrens hospital means I knew sonographers and ultrasound techs, there's a difference, which was your question. Jesus, you're like Ritalin kid from smoking aces....to yourself you're fighting this amazing fight with spinning kicks and flips so amazing it gets you hard, but to everyone else you're flailing wildly and are just annoying, not a dangerous opponent to be feared or respected.

bobknight33 said:

Reading a book and actually seeing the development day in and day out are NOT the same.

You don't think Ultrasound sonographers don't know what a heart best is?

Hate to burst you bubble. These techs scan , write up the report and tell the Dr. The techs also determine the age of development and also the estimate of due date. They also tell tell the Dr if you have a still born. The Dr then tells the patient.

The Dr reviews the report and look at the images if needed.

You mom worked at the hospital and you met a lot of doctors. That does not make you a DR nor you mom. Also were these
OB/GYN doctors
Rad Doctors
Oncology Doctors
Cardiac Doctors

Just because you mom work at a hospital doesn't mean much.

Try again tool boy.

Day of Rage: How Trump Supporters Took the U.S. Capitol

luxintenebris jokingly says...

stolen? 6M is a hell of a heist. AZ & GA? pretty sweet haul. what is obvious is that if this was true, it took tight organization, supreme attention to detail, and wildly deft implementation. talking superior leadership and a task force of the finest to pull it off. if they are that good - let them keep the W.H and give them the rest of Congress!

the nation wants nat'l healthcare, better educational systems, intelligent ideas - folks that can solve problems. Or just, all the things the GOP can't/wouldn't provide or structure. rather have folks that can figure out how to do the impossible, fashion plans that work on the first take, and accomplish miracles.

that's your inadvertent testimony; they're so bad they're good!

fake news? honestly, don't believe you could source where you bought your morning cereal.

put the other comments under "what can he be thinking". kind of like this news...

How robots could end animal captivity in zoos & marine parks

newtboy says...

Well, I don't go to zoos because I understand they're keeping wild animals in captivity for the visitor's entertainment, and in most cases I find that awful. I would be much happier seeing animatronic critters paying for wild animal rehabilitation.

cloudballoon said:

But would people still goes to the zoo if they know they're seeing robots?

Zoos could keep the mandate of conserving & breeding endangered animals back to health, and get out of forcing animals to do performative shows for human entertainment and still bring in the tourism dollars and/or government funding for their good work without the unnesscasry cruelty.
