Tesla Before Elon: The Untold Story
There is no way this guy didn't read this in a robe, whisky, and arched eyebrow. I fully expected to hear him at one point use the word "naughty". I'm a little disappointed.
The Engineering of the Drinking Bird
"The reason the bird drinks whisky faster than water is because the rate of evaporation is greater. "
Yeah, nice excuse bird.
Irish People Taste Test American Rum
I don't think it's that unusual to describe drinks by their origin. Cuban rum for instance is very much a thing, as is American Whiskey vs Scotch Whisky vs Irish Whiskey (or the highly regarded Japanese).
I wouldn't know one way or the other for the Thanksgiving vid. Scalloped potatoes are a thing here though I had some last night.
It's entertaining and fun to see the reactions. My issue is they say "American" rum as if it's somethings different than other rum. They just can't say Irish people drink rum, because nothing about that is interesting. I recall the Thanksgiving video when the food they chose was so not typical American thanksgiving food. To the point id never heard of some of it. I just think they are willing (imo) to fudge a bit just to make a video. Anyway im just bitchin and moaning for no particularly good reason
1974 - Suntory Whisky, 'Sammy Davis J
You wouldn't associate Whisky with Japan, but last year (2015) there were several that were awarded "best in the world":

I don't know anything about the awarding organization or review process, but it was a wide-spread enough story that it wasn't just a marketing blurb.

For what it's worth, as an Irish whiskey drinker (in both senses of the phrase) I can tell you that the nicest whiskeys I've tasted from outside Ireland and Scotland are Japanese, including a Santori whose name eludes me.
In case you're interested, next comes Indian (a lovely tipple called Amrut Fusion), followed by a few nice American samples... I'm not a big fan of bourbon, hence the placing.
As for the spelling thing, yes, usually Whisky is Scotch and Whiskey is Irish, but that's not 100% true, and if that's your worst spelling mistake after a few then you're doing well.
So, what's the story with Japanese whiskey? I usually like my whiskey to come from Scotland, but Sammy makes me want to try the Japanese version.

I spelled Whisky wrong in the description. Swear I'm not mental, my brain no worky sometimes...well, most of the time!!

Whiskey doesn't come from Scotland. However, whisky does. Maybe that's the one you're thinking of...?

buzzfeed women drinking whiskey for he first time
When I convinced my wife to try some scotch whisky I recommended that she took a sip and then let the whisky roll around her tongue. She took a BIG sip, swished it around her mouth like mouthwash, and then almost threw up. It took a while to convince her to try it again...
Tullamore D.E.W - The Parting Glass
fantastic affordable irish whisky.
Father Reads Son's book (The Reader)
After all that, he gets a glass of cheap blended whisky? No no no.
Honest Beer Ad
Everything you do in life is slowly killing you.
If drinking by drinking beer, wine or whisky, I've traded away some of my life, the trade was more than worth it.
Whiskey vs Water
This is actually a pretty basic trick : water and alcohol don't have the same density (water is more dense ~1g/ml whe, alcohol is usualy below 0.8 at ambiant temperature). When the card is moved, gravity is pulling the water. But as the pressure in the two glasses need to be constant, it makes the whisky goes up. You could do that trick with vodka too (but then hard to see the trick). Some oils should work too, depending on how it's made. I'm wondering how milk would behave now, and if the trick would work well with hot salted water and cold distilled water...
