These "hyper-realistic CGI" rehashes of classics cost a pretty penny yet have ZERO magic in them. I'm really not against CGI, but if you want to redo these old classics, do what Spiderverse, TMNT, Wild Robots, etc. did. They had tons more style & character to them then anything Disney/Pixar produced creativity in terms of CGI for the last decade.

This makes me want to go back and play HL2 Episodes 1 & 2. I know I bought them, but don't remember ever finishing them. HL2 was so technically impressive. Portal 2 was also great, especially the co-op multiplayer. Alyx is a good VR title- it's close to a "killer app" for VR, but not quite there. 1 of the few VR titles compelling enough to keep headset on for more than 1 hour.

Not half-life related, but "old but cool" PC tech from that era: I had a DVD/MPEG2 decoder card that did VGA passthrough, and would replace black pixels with the movie content - so I could watch the Matrix in the background of playing Quake or other FPS (this was a dual PIII-450Mhz). I later installed an ATSC tuner card - one of the first channels that broadcast in HD was Fox, and one of my favorite shows, 24, started to broadcast in HD - and the early days all the makeup artists took advantage of low-res, so as soon as the show went to HD, you could see how fake all the blood, makeup, and other effects were. Hollywood ramped up quickly once the first HDTVs started shipping.
That computer also ran BeOS quite well.

I think I also got Windows XP OS too.

Anyways, I remember playing this game over my long Thanksgiving weekend. It was amazing! Very smooth, pretty, and fun! I don't remember how long it took me to finish it. It was a great sequel. Of course years later, episodes 1 and 2 (The Orange Box -- will talk about that in three years). I don't have and want a VR to play Alyx.

…but have been saying “ The next POTUS will be hit hard with failing economy, thanks to Bidinomics.” for only 6 days now, followed by ridiculous fake economic numbers like a fake loss of 28000 jobs in October when there was an addition of 12000 in reality (still the worst since Trump), and comparing that to pre-pandemic numbers because you need to forget Trump’s entire last year to make his numbers acceptable or superior….Biden only created 12000 this one month, his worst….how many did Trump LOSE in his worst month? He lost around 9 million in 2020, and 3.5 million over his presidency. THE WORST JOBS RECORD IN HISTORY. Even if you forget the over 9 million Trump lost in 2020, Biden still created 2 1/2 times as many jobs in 4 years at 14-16 million to Trump’s just over 6.
Then there’s GDP , which again is no contest unless you forget 2020.
Previously you have claimed only a Trump presidency would avert a recession/depression, and a Biden, then Harris administration was a guaranteed depression and market crash….exactly the same as you said in 2020. Now that he has a second term with full control of all 3 branches of government, you say of course he can’t avert a depression and the economy will do a full 180 from the consistent positive growth numbers under Biden and when he takes over it will crash fast, but it will be Biden’s fault. Reality is the economy crashed badly under Trump and the debt ballooned, the worst economic crash in our lifetimes by far with most jobs lost and biggest deficit and a million dead, and rebounded under Biden with half the added debt despite being handed the already crashed and sinking fast economy. Now Trump gets a second shot with a healthy economy and numbers trending up, I bet he turns it around again.

The Biden economy is the envy of the entire world and far better than the first Trump economy unless you erase all his losses and only count successes. It is growing, not shrinking, manufacturing, gdp, jobs, wages, and earning power are ALL growing, deficit, inflation and interest shrinking..and every other metric is moving in a positive direction under Biden including the deficit. I haven’t enjoyed a turn based game since Herzog Zwei on Sega Genesis (and I’m not even certain it was one, it’s been so long).
I did the gaming pc thing for a decade, but realized that it will ALWAYS need an upgrade to play the newest games well, and I don’t have infinite money to keep up. Consoles last years to a decade with no upgrades needed or possible, so it always plays the new games just fine…and there’s GameFly so I can play through every game I want to for cheaper than buying 5 games a year.

I still have no cell phone…it’s a badge of honor that I never have.

I haven't owned a console since my Atari 2600! I still like computers because I want to do more than gaming! I can even get addons, hacks, etc. for computer games. I don't play much games these days though. I even play more games (Duolingo, Propel, Lengendary (just started last night!), etc.) in my iPhone than my PC these days! They are short and turn based.

Perhaps a better question….if you are so certain there’s an afterlife, and that it will be so much better than life which has become tedious, mundane, and oppressive to you….why do you keep living? Why not donate all your organs to someone who wants more life and let nature take its course.
