@lantern53
*Here's a back-up for when you delete my comment cause it makes you uncomfortably aware of reality.

But to answer your questions..

1.) Why would I want to charm a openly belligerent jingoist racist asshat? I wouldn't.

One who "takes every opportunity" to mock, disparage and shame black people & culture..

..Completely denying that rule-class privilege, ethnicity & heritage have ANY bearing on those unequal, unfair, unjust outcomes..

With nearly EVERY COMMENT YOU POST!

2.) Do you call me names? Yes.

Every time you talk shit about how young black males are all "criminals, savages & thugs" and they "deserved what they got because only bad people get stopped by police".

You're a fuckin' bully. You bully black people with nearly EVERY comment you post here.

I'm just here to remind you of what that feels like Lantern.

Doesn't it suck when someone relentlessly insults and mocks you? Constantly,. on the same topic.. ..every chance they get..

Don't you hate it when someone judges you & all other cops "shitty" based on the actions & statements of a few ACTUALLY shitty cops?

Nope? You don't care or understand or "get it". It figures.

Back into your bubble, old fool.
Back into your bubble.

White Party - A Lesson in Cultural Appropriation

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Holy FUCK this comment is ridiculously racist.
You should understand that, right?

In a Rational world, nowhere on the face of the planet..

would anyone contradict themselves in the same sentence, message, or idea..

..then immediately assert that they're "totally-not-that-thing"..

while continuing to do or be that very thing that "they're-totally-not"..

That angsty "ALL humans are scumbags" & flowery bit at the end DOES NOT magically make you not "impossibly-not-that-at-all-because-i-don't-FEEL-i'm-that-way" because still..

You are effectively gloating about your white privilege, then sayin'
"let's not make it about race or anything tho".

And all rest of you upvoters..

should feel like thickheaded, numbskulls for endorsing and/or essentially gloating & chuckling along with.

Seriously, re-read this quote here..

If you heard a coworker speaking like this.. would you not be uncomfortable? No?

JustSaying said:

There, I said it. I'm not even trolling here.

Honestly, ..white people are just better at [racism].

The RNC, Nuremberg Rallies or even random Ku Klux Klan gatherings are far more offensive than anything black people could do.

If there's one thing where white people are far more superiour [sic] than anybody else, it's having a feeling of superiority.

I'm not a racist,

However, ..there are some things a certain group of people is statistically better than others.
Sometimes it's in the genes, sometimes it's in the culture ..

Max Verstappen drives Dad Jos around Monaco

oritteropo says...

Well, yes, but it's not unusual for racing drivers to be uncomfortable when other people are driving.

What Max was actually saying in the tunnel was how fast he would go in his F1 car, and where he would brake.

radx said:

Jos' anxiety about the end of the tunnel got me thinking: he was on the track when Wendlinger had his horrific accident right there during training in '94, wasn't he?

Why can't white people stop the violence?

GenjiKilpatrick says...

Glad someone sifted this.

I was just about to post this so I could rip into @bobknight33's butthole.

*Ahem*

You see Bob, you're so focused on hating Liberals & Democrats you willfully ignore all these vicious white SAVAGES & THUGS.

Just look at those wild white beasts.
They're destroying property, acting like animals, and tearing apart THEIR OWN COMMUNITIES!

Just common thugs rioting and looting, committing white on white violence.

And for what? Because the didn't like some sporting event results?

How trivial and uneducated of them.

It's a shame, this is exactly why we can't make any progress as a country.

You know, this is precisely what the Conservative Agenda is promoting. White on White crime.

Repulicans, they can keep lining their pockets on Wall Street.

While the average single white mothers fight over the scraps.

~Fin~

See Bob, doesn't that sound like a shit argument? No?

Oh wait, I already know your answer to that. "It's the liberal agenda!" Right?

The Liberal-homosexual-illegal-alien-It-makes-me-uncomfortable-to-acknowledge-the-centuries-of-global-oppression-that-my-white-privilege-represents-so-I'l

Cops Tazer Horse Thief, Then Beat And Kick Over 50 Times

Praetor says...

Watched 15 seconds of the beating and stopped watching.

Then forced myself to watch it all the way through because being uncomfortable with it is no excuse not to bear witness.

Watched person after person come on screen and join in the beating and had to stop watching again.

If they are going to treat people like this when they try and surrender peacefully, how do they think people will react in the future?

The Daily Show - A Million Gays to Deny in the Midwest

newtboy says...

It's sad that so many people have intentionally confused this issue by claiming that not passing it means people can force others to do their bidding, against the beliefs and wishes of the business owners.
That is patently false.
The law (and the argument against it) was not about stopping others from forcing anyone to create anything they're uncomfortable with, it's about allowing people to refuse their normally provided service to those they dislike.
With or without this law, no one has to make a penis cake for a gay wedding, no one has to make a satan cake for a Satanist wedding. No one has to make a star of David cake for a Jewish wedding. No one has to make a Nazi cake with a swastika. They simply can't refuse to serve those people based on their sexual orientation, religion, race, age, or sex. It's called civilization people...try it.

Redneck News reports on gay marriage destroying Alabama

poolcleaner says...

I'm going to be devil's advocate here and take the side of fearful American white trash:

Dear gays,

You're ruining the last good thing we had going on here in this country. We took care of the natives, forcing them into small communities where they slowly became psychologically oppressed and fraught with addiction.

But then we lost our control over niggers, who had their places down on our plantations. No matter, we can still push asians around because they're our bitches. But then we started to take them seriously. I don't even understand that.

I can't tell the difference between India people (Indians? Like our natives?) and allah-la-las -- and, really, I suspect because they're all in a similar area of the globe, they're the same. I might even believe Asia and India/Middle East are separate continents or somehow not entangled socially, economically and politically.

I think that's all the colored people, so lastly, addressing devil worshipers and homosexuals, who are really very similar in their connection to Satan. I can't tell you how disgusted I am about a penis going into an anus. It's just so gross. Hot lesbians are alright, but even that goes a little far, as I'm uncomfortable talking about that with people and church says no. Yes, that's bad too... and my wife definitely doesn't need to know anything about what I just said about lesbos. Now, a dyke, on the other hand, I think men are technically allowed to punch dykes.

I've already said too much. I feel gross.

In conclusion, it's been a downward spiral into immorality. Starting with the freedom of black people, who slowly made us lose sight on what is right and decent in the nation which God granted us. From negroes, came homosexuality.

Jon Stewart Picks Apart Palin & GOP Incoherent Speeches

I cant figure out why that is though.... if I am alone in a locked room it would still make me uncomfortable to watch her, maybe a form of embarassment of the species

Someone stole naked pictures of me. This is what I did about

bareboards2 says...

Naked pictures are not really the issue.

If her pictures had been stolen and looked at, but she didn't KNOW that they had been seen, her psychological damage from this theft would have been very different. Wondering who has seen them, being uncomfortable when meeting someone -- has this person seen them? That person? Not happy, not cool. And, in fact, she took back that particular psychological assault by posting this video and claiming her naked body for herself. Here. Look. I want you to look. It's my body and it is a fine body.

The real damage are the personal attacks, exposing personal information, attempted blackmail, active psychological assaults on her mind.

You guys can have your intellectual conversation about the cloud and how to protect yourself.

But that is not the problem.

I had to stop reading the comment stream when I realized it was starting to include crap about -- oh this isn't misogyny, this isn't hatred.

Yes. It is. It is violence against women, and this woman in particular.

And when you ignore that, and focus on the fact that she had made something that was vulnerable to theft... well, we get back to that feminist/humanist trope of -- you are part of the problem. #Not All Men? Well, men who focus on immaterialities while a violent psychological assault is taking place? I'd say #Those Men.

I know you don't mean any harm. I know you aren't #Those Men, not really. But I'm here to tell you that there is new harm being committed when you ignore the actual violent psychological crimes.

I am aware that some of what I have written might sound really stupid in light of the above comments, since I didn't read them. I'm okay with that. It is better than subjecting myself to what feels like an additional violation.

SDGundamX said:

We're talking about two different things.

She is not responsible for someone deciding to steal and post the photos nor is she responsible for cretinous emails she later received.

She IS responsible for 1) taking the photos and 2) posting those photos in a place that made it likely they would be leaked (i.e. Facebook).

She's not responsible for the crime, but it should have been foreseeable that her actions were likely to result in the photos being made public someday (whether by a hacker, a jealous ex-lover, a stolen/misplaced laptop, etc.). So, she's a victim of a crime (which is deserving of compassion) and at the same time she's also a victim of her own actions (which is deserving of pity but possibly also deserving of some criticism for not thinking things through).

I suppose throughout this thread I've been a bit dismayed by the idea that we can't criticize her actions because she's been the victim of a crime. If she wasn't a victim of a crime but instead posted a video about how she takes naked pictures of herself and posts them to Facebook, would it still be wrong to point out that she clearly wasn't thinking things through about how much higher the odds are these days of personal info being leaked online?

He's legitimately uncomfortable.

He looks like a trapped animal to me, angry at being cornered.

Management never will do that -- I'm betting in part because he actually gets more attention with this than he would if he talked.

It is all so messed up.

And yeah -- it gets back to the media, doesn't it? They know who he is. He has been clear he won't talk. And yet here they come.

Pisses me off.

Fairbs said:

You've got a point, it's better than a bunch of sports cliches. I take it this guy's good so the media wants to talk to him. Seems like management might want to have a talk with the media and ask they leave him alone. I guess my beef is that a lot of football players act like primadonnas and he comes off that way. I can understand if he legitimately is uncomfortable or not good at answering questions. In that case, I would say the media should back off.

He has said that what he needs to say, he says on the football field.

I am totally thrilled that he is doing this.

Have you ever seen Bull Durham? The Kevin Costner character teaching the young Tim Robbins all the phrases he needs to repeat once he gets to The Show?

I love that Lynch is saying no to all that nonsense.

eric3579 says...

The NFL Media Policy officially states: “Players must be available to the media following every game and regularly during the practice week as required under league rules. Star players, or other players with unusually heavy media demands, must be available to the media that regularly cover their teams at least once during the practice week in addition to their required post-game media availability.”

Marshawn Lynch signed the contract. These type of policies is one of the reasons why the NFLs brand and Marshawn Lynch (all players) make the ridiculous amounts of money they do. I personally understand his being uncomfortable with these interviews but i don't see anyone being at fault here.

- If he doesn't want to talk to then he won't. That's his choice.
- If the NFL fine him, they have the right, if hes not fulfilling his contracted obligations.
- It's sports writers job to interview players. It's not their fault he's acting the way he is. They have a job to do sanctioned and wanted by the NFL.

Also is this considered talking to the media and did he face a fine for it?
I thought he was fined for not showing up in one particular situation. I'm under the impression he gets away with doing this (the video) type of thing without penalty.

Adults must never interact with children or be depicted interacting with children. It might make someone uncomfortable!

This was beautiful. Those seeing something sexual or morally provocative here may need to look a little bit harder, I think.
