Kookaburra Laughing

newtboy says...

Oops...I was wrong...
The laughing kookaburra is one of four species of kookaburra; the other three are the blue-winged kookaburra, the spangled kookaburra, and the rufous-bellied kookaburra

Are You A Patriot?

Buttle says...

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Captain America: Winter Soldier - Trailer 2

entr0py says...

Yeah, Captain America is a star spangled lad who first appeared in 1941 and often fights Nazis. . . propaganda is kind of his thing. His being a useless propaganda symbol was part of the plot of the first movie. But, it would be a bastardization if they turned it into something other than that. At least you know what you're in for here.

Uber-liberal Redford is in it for a reason. Course its also bankrolled by the US military propaganda wing (or if it's not its the only action movie hollywood's made this year that isn't) so it cant say anything dangerous..

Jack Black Sings the National Anthem at Sparks Game

FlowersInHisHair says...

I think it's special precisely because of the lack of 'showbiz' about it. The Star-Spangled Banner is a really difficult song to sing. It's very rangy and the intervals are difficult to hit. Just presenting it "plainly" is enough of an achievement.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a tenacious D, and very much a Jack Black fan.. but, This actually seemed rather.. plain?

This just doesn't seem all that special to me.
