Toyota FT-1 Concept! The Next Supra? - The Downshift Ep. 73
According to that article it's a Scion FR-S in the U.S. and not branded Toyota. I think they mentioned that in the vid.
Toyota doesn't have a sports car?
What the hell is the GT 86 then?
Sweet looking car though...
but if it's supposed to be a drivers car, it's missing a pedal
TOYOTA GT86: The Real Deal Advert
It's been a very long time since Toyota has had a car like this. I think this will be the next major tuner car for gear heads. The mild difference between the Subaru version and the Toyota (Scion) version is going to make the Toyota much more appealing (unless it becomes too common and people get the Subaru just to have a different badge, and color options, then modify the suspension themselves). Toyota is talking about using the same flat boxter engine with turbo applications in future cars (rumors are about it being the next Supra), but the turbo combination doesn't seem likely to make it to America any time soon. Fortunately, Toyota knows what it has and is trying to court the after market tuners. They've already given an FR-S to GReddy, and it's only a matter of time before AEM, HKS, and the other attainable tuners start pumping out functional improvement modifications.
The engine hits the ideal 100 HP per liter of engine mark. It's rear wheel drive. It's inexpensive and aimed at a youthful audience. This car's going to be a big thing.

Absolutely! Very funny and to the point. However, as a scion of truth (insert sarcasm here) I felt it was my duty to inform.

BABES 'N' DONUTS - Does this make you want to buy a Scion iQ
>> ^hpqp:
Answer: no.
(also: what a ripoff of the Smart).
And every minivan is a ripoff of the VW Microbus...whatever.
I was recently in the market for a car and I looked at the Scion iQ and gave it a test drive. It was actually pretty cool and unique, and better than the Smart in almost every way conceivable (I've also driven a Smart). Here's the catch, it's billed as a city car, so it has a crappy CVT Transmission. As well as No cruise control, I cannot have a car without cruise control and this didn't even give the option.
Toyota will get my money when they bring the TOYOTA iQ over from Europe...not some crappy ripoff with bigger wheels.
Funny U.S.P.S. Mail Truck Accident
At least it didn't hit anything of any value. Damn those Scions are cheap pieces of crap. It's like Toyota said to themselves, "Hey, let's relive the good old days of the late 70's when all of our vehicles sucked shit."
Funny U.S.P.S. Mail Truck Accident
Looks like he put it in park because the truck jiggles a little when he gets out. Then it looks like it pops into reverse on its own and doesn't stop until it hits the scion.
The Dirty Fuckin' Hippies Were Right
We are reactive beings, languishing in self-centered accumulation. Blinded by envy, preyed upon by a societal structure that is profit, rather than welfare, driven.
The two primary locations that humans learn a desire to work to benefit others are home and church. The founding fathers knew this, which is why the Constitution is a moral document that humbly acknowledges that rights come from divinity and provided protections to stop men from infringing those rights. Hippies have/had little or no respect for church & family, and the intellectually pithless modern progressives mirror that disdain. Not very likely that hippies or progressives will create this 'welfare driven' society when they actively seek to subvert/destroy the two things most likely to teach people a desire to serve others.
"hippies" - (objective and free thought, care and consideration of others)
Bull feathers. I lived in the 60s and 70s and the hippie movement was nothing about free thought, care, or consideration. They used the labels you use, but when rubber meets road the hippies were all about selfishness, laziness, and the abrogation of personal responsibility for ones actions.
In particular - hippies were incredibly intolerant of anything that didn't goose-step to their point of view. You see this reflected in their miserable progressive scions today. Anything that challenges their perspective is met with hostlity, anger, resentment, and violence. So much for 'objective free thought, care, and consideration of others'. Such boons are only granted to those that bow and scrape before properly approved leftist dogma - like good little zombies. For example...
(note the above entry: "Global warmer, its natural, not man made". You sir, are excused from your idiocy, you are entitled to it, but your idiocy comes at an expense... And that expense, on a global scale, is our downfall...)
Always nice to see objective free thought in action, combined with care and consideration for others, isn't it?

The Prius Paradox - Hybrid Pollution
CNW Marketing Research's Hummer advert/report has some pretty ridiculous distortions and assumptions in it. It assumes that 85% of "total lifetime energy use" of a vehicle is in manufacturing when scientific studies show 85% is in driving. It lies and says hybrid batteries aren't recycled when they are (some even have phone numbers on them to call for recycling instructions). Two models of Scion with nearly identical stats are in the report and are shown as drastically different. It assumes a Hummer H1 lasts 35 years and a Prius lasts 12 years without backing up their claim.
Also, this seems like a recycled talking point. Oil company "marketing research" groups had a similar argument against electric cars: Because you plug your electric car in at home, you're just moving the CO2 production to the powerplant with no benefit to the environment. But a large powerplant producing electricity wholesale is far more efficient then each car's engine. Plus the power source for your home could eventually be something non-pollutive like solar panels. And then there's the CO2 produced transporting the gas to each gas station.
In the market for a new car (Blog Entry by MarineGunrock)
My advice is to check out consumer reports top cars for 2008 first. Just do a quick google search and you'll see the list. If not you can get a copy at any store.
For what you what I would go with Honda or Toyota. I have a 07 Corrola XRS and so far I had to take it in twice for computer problems. Apparently it is a big, big problem on the 9th generation toyota corrolas and scions, they tend to fry out quick. So much so that the computers are on back order and can take a month to get in. Besides that it drives great, good size and mileage. Hopefully the problem has been fixed with the new generation. Here's a website devoted just to new corrola's with usefull info, http://www.9thgencorolla.com
As for the civic, I know what you mean. The dash feels like a jet fighter cockpit and the four doors versions are just plain UGLY. If you have the dough the accord is the best four door in its class (top pick for consumer reports too).

If you're thinking about Corolla or Scion tC, you should check out the current Honda Civic.
Same price range, and better cars, IMO.
