the evolution of nicolas cage's hair

bamdrew says...

Adaptation is one of my favorite movies. Strike that... IS my favorite movie.
He is so good in that I overlook EVERY BAD MOVIE HE HAS DONE.

I don't think this was the intent of the video but it actually made me realize what a great career this guy has had, if you leave out all the crap that is. I mean, Rumble Fish, Peggy Sue Got Married, Raising Arizona, Moonstruck, Wild at Heart, Honeymoon in Vegas, Leaving Las Vegas, Face/Off, Lord of War, that would be a very respectable list for any actor.

Don't forget Adaptation!
>> ^dannym3141:
I think he's a fan-fucking-tastic actor when he picks the right films. Leaving Las Vegas really couldn't have been anyone else. And in Kick-Ass - quirky, interesting, engaging? And i thought he suited The Rock perfectly.
Sometimes amazing, sometimes terrible.

Raising Arizona and Adaptation are tops in my book! Coen Bros. and Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman for the fucking win!

p.s. DOUBLE QUOTING!!!!@!

If you want to embed videos from Vimeo you have to use their old embed code. Go to a video on Vimeo, click "embed" and at the top you should see a link that says "Use old embed code instead" click that (you probably have to click it twice) and then you should be able to post the videos here.

The old embed code is much longer than the new one and should start with "object" but the new one starts with "iframe"
Hope this helps.

Dog Born Without Eyes Learns Echolocation

calvados says...

"Wahey, playtoime!"

I never love the Ninja more than when I'm riding through an underpass or a tunnel. All of a sudden the throaty rumble of her 600 cubes come echoing back at me like thunder. It's one of the sweetest sounds I've ever heard.

I love Reach, but they made it less skill-based. I understand that this was in the interest of making it a more "team"-oriented game, but when I can't mash on two fucking noobs just because 4 body shots plus one headshot is THE SAME THING as 5 headshots with the DMR, I feel fucking betrayed. Now that the SWAT playlist is live, that and Rumble Pit are the only thing I'll be touching. It's still a good game, but making it noob-friendly kills a lot of my enjoyment as somebody who's okay at the game.

Heh, I actually have some good stuff happen to me with Armour lock. People don't seem to realize that when the guy comes out, if you're too close, you're hit with an EMP burst losing shields.
Can't tell you how many double kills I've gotten by having two idiots just stand beside me in armour lock.
Oh, and then there's always this beauty.

Haha, that's always great. Sprint is my overall favorite, but lately I've been having a lot of fun with Hologram, and Armor Lock is always useful, especially if you have a teammate to drop a nade on the morons just waiting for you to come out of it so they can melee you. In a one-on-one situation, dropping your armor lock for anything other than blocking a quick melee is pretty disadvantageous oftentimes though, because if they have four nades they can just space them so that you WILL die as soon as you come out of it (if they're thinking, that is).

Old Crow Medicine Show "Big Time In The Jungle"

calvados says...

http://www.lyricstime.com/old-crow-medicine-show-big-time-in-the-jungle-lyrics.html

Down in Eutaw, Alabama in 1965
A young man ‘bout 21, no different than you or I
He’s catchin’ catfish, and gettin’ drunk
But Uncle Sam called, he called him up
Sent him out to Vietnam
That young man
Got his life turned upside down
Turned his smile into a frown
Robbed that king of his crown
For an ideal he didn’t even know about

He was gamblin’ at the wagon when that army man showed up
And he flashed that pen and paper
And ol’ Flukie he signed up
There’s gonna be a big time in the jungle
Gonna be a firefight
Gonna be a rumble
Send me out to Vietnam
I’ll fight ten men
I got nothin’ left in the States for me
I wanna see the world you see
I know that Uncle Sam needs me
To fight for an ideal I know nothing about

Oh the drop point was dusty and the drill sergeant was loud
And he could not see the corpses for the ragin’ dust cloud
Grab your duffle bags, head to the checkpoint
Welcome to Vietnam, boys, you’re in for a hell of a fight
Take it from the ones who know
The army moves slow
Hurry up and wait, don’t sleep late
And learn to hate your brother
Before you hate your foe

On patrol out in the rice fields, them choppers flew low
Glancing for the hand signal to tell you where to go
Then the bombs started fallin’
And they pounded his brain
And he thought about Eutaw and who was to blame
For sendin’ him to Vietnam

Futurama - Bender in Jail

yellowc says...

Futurama episodes are always better the second time you watch them. The small nuisances rival those of The Simpsons, they're usually a little more whacky anyway. In fact you should go (re-)watch every episode right now!

How to Make a Fog Maker

blankfist says...

Nice post. Dry ice machines, which is what this is, are called "rumble pots" in the SFX business, because the dry ice and water make a rumbling when introduced to one another. The dry ice fog is heavy and rolls along the ground. The "fog machines" you use to create lighter ambient smoke or a lot of concentrated smoke actually vaporizes mineral oil to create that effect.

8 mo old deaf baby's reaction to cochlear implant

braindonut says...

I've heard rumblings of similar things, but wrote it all off as completely retarded.
>> ^moodonia:

Very happy video that could warrant a controversy tag.
Seems there's a movement against these devices in the deaf community, some regard these devices as akin to eugenics or ethnic cleansing of deaf people and their culture. At least thats what I heard on signzone on BBC late one night.
