Kojima Productions' Death Stranding Reveal Trailer - E3 2016

Stephen Fry Hates Dancing

SDGundamX says...

He's not actually serious in this monologue, is he? He just comes across as an old man screaming "Get a haircut, you hippie!" before throwing some teenagers off his front lawn.

Dude, it's the 21st century. Social dancing in public has been a thing since my grandmother was a teenager back in the "roaring 20s." Only an idiot can't understand the idea of expressing your emotions with your body (rather than say a pen, paintbrush, or your voice). And Stephen Fry has never struck me as an idiot, so I'm not sure where this monologue is coming from.

That Time You Were Completely Unaware A Bear Was Chasing You

artician says...

If anyone is interested, the bear sound effects you've been talking about come from the Series 6000 sound effects collection.

I've recognized common sound effects going back as far as the 80's, so in the early 2000's I got determined to hunt a few of them down and find out why they were so pervasive.
Those of you recognizing the bear here would be equally familiar with the screeching falcon and "dragon" roar (griffins/dragons from WC2, along with every other dragon/hawk sfx in most games everywhere), the sci-fi power-door, and the magic/fireball explosion (doom, pretty much all of doom came from this effects CD).

I am really, really tempted to make a Series6000 tribute video. I own the Series 6000 collection myself (You can get it for ~$1000 online now a days), and use it in nearly every project.

For now, I've sifted the original sample video the company uses for their promotional stuff, but I don't know if qualifies as *Related=http://videosift.com/video/All-Hail-The-General-Sound-Effects-Library-Series-6000

Christchurch earthquake and cliff collapse

Mammaltron says...

"It does us a power of good to remind ourselves that we live on two volcanic rocks where two tectonic plates meet, in a somewhat lonely stretch of windswept ocean just above the Roaring Forties. If you want drama - you've come to the right place."

Memory attributed that to David Lange like most kiwi quotes, but apparently it was Geoffrey Palmer.

Videosifts Sarzys Best And Worst Movies Of 2015

poolcleaner says...

Looking forward to Follow It. I love the soundtrack by Disasterpeace. He did the soundtrack for the game Fez. Love that lowfi shit. And I love me some creepy ass horror with chilling moments made possible by a nerve wracking pace. You're right that It Follows... follows you into your dreams. Like Freddy.

But... I'm not sure it was my favorite film, nor my favorite horror film of 2015. I really enjoyed the horror comedy Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse -- it had zombie boobies, zombie kitten paws under doorways; the entire theater exploded in various combinations of delight and disgust on multiple occasions, like monstrous audience-gasms. And it had a gorefest ending with scout crafted zombie killing machines reminiscent of the lawnmower scene in Peter Jackson's Braindead.

It is also my opinion that it was a more effective comedy than Kingsman. Scout's Guide had the audience roaring, which is such a great moment to experience in a theater. Laughter and screams? Top theater experience of the year. Better reactions than Star Wars even.

I don't know what I think about David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) or Chrisopher Landon (Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) as directors. Each have created a single horror gem reminiscent of 1970/80s horror but for different reasons. I hope they keep making movies like these.

I gotta find the video where it's one of those "perfect timing" points where a little guy like this happens to roar at the same time his dad does fairly nearby.

Vicious, Terrifying Guard Dog Protects Owner From Attack

Retroboy says...

Runner here (at least before my knees decided enough's enough).

My road route took me past a house where a toy some-such-or-other breed routinely chased me and came close to nipping at my heels. One day my knees weren't the only thing that decided enough was enough. Stopped, turned around, looked at the pesky atom, and ROARED. I'd like to think I'm a kind guy, but in all honesty, the other option of trying to score a field goal on imaginary 40-yard uprights was a very very close second. Runners will understand.

Anyways, I didn't, but it was very satisfying to see that little pest leave a vapour trail on its way back to its old-lady owner, who tried to comfort it against the big bad normally harmless passerby.

Do NOT train your dog to do what these people did. Might look cute, but is not.

Funny but teaching him dangerous habits. He'll grow up to be one of those dogs who bites the moment anyone approaches her, who chases people around nipping at their heals. I freaking little dogs like that.

Most Insane Footage Yet From The China Explosion

Hipnotic says...

This video reminded me of the movie "Cloverfield". All that was missing was the monster stepping through the cloud and roaring.
(Aside from the obvious fact that this is real and the terrible loss of live.)
