WONKA (2023 Movie) Trailer | Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant
It's Hollywood using the excuse that it's "introducing a classic for this generation" some such BS.
Roald Dahl’s works are being rewritten to rid of age-old stereotype/racism/sexism/imperialism/whatever-ism fit for this political cycle because there are THAT many stupid people who can't see an old work in old lens.
The suspense is terrible...I hope it will last.
Apparently Roald Dahl wasn't happy with the sardonic rewrites of Wonka's character, but Gene played it so well I think it was an improvement.

Alfred Hitchcock presents Man From The South
Sort of....this was adapted from a short story by Roald Dahl. The version I first saw was a remake in 1985 for the "New Alfred Hitchcock Presents" that starred John Huston in the Lorre role and Melanie Griffith as the Girl. Tarentino's version refers to the classic Hitchcock episode as the inspiration for the bet...and as you know has a completely different ending then the story it was inspired by. >> ^ctrlaltbleach:
Same bit is used in Quentin Tarantino's Four Rooms.

A very cunning linguist. This guy needs to write a musical.
He's written Matilda: A Musical, adapted from the Roald Dahl book. Definitely going to be going to see that with the kids!
Blinky™
For the most part really good technically was nicely done however 2 aspects of it stopped it from being amazing.
1) the montage retro stuff in the middle dragged on to long
2) the punchline at the end was delivered really badly could have been capitalized on far better
3) the whole thing was ridiculously predictable not really sure who it is aimed at if this was done in a way more likely to be watched by kids then it would have been far better i think , the story reminds me of roald dahl stories.

it's a belter. was forced to read it at school and only realised just how incredible it is when i re-read it years later.
it surprises me, but pleases me, that hollywood hasn't dragged it back to the big screen lately.
