That is fantastic. The animation and rendering are both beautiful.
German engineers being told they've been targeted by GCHQ
I think the issue is quite well documented in the video.
In the video, the engineer learns that the NSA has stolen his credentials and used them to gain access to his company's private, otherwise secure network.
The map shown in the video is not a routing table, nor is it a colorful map of domain records associated with a given domain such as appears in your Robtex link. It's actually a copy of the NSA's rendering of the network map denoting the number of nodes they have penetrated.
He then realizes that the NSA can use this particular access to intercept communications from any and all of his company's customers, and, in the case of satellite customers, use geolocation to pinpoint the physical origin of a given communication.
If you don't agree that this is outrageous, then there's nothing more to discuss.
Maybe there's some article that covers this in more details, but the video is very sensationalist and does not really show anything particularly outrageous. It's not that difficult to find company employee info; network routing table is public information; cracked password of some service provider and ability to turn on/off service is annoying but not exactly "spying".
The world's most beautiful sustainable font
My point is that when people print photographs, or pages with large graphics, this font is saving 0% of 90% page coverage. So my logic is that his contribution to saving actual ink is very small. Plus most of the ink I lose (personally) is because the cartridge dries out over time.
Besides that, the font ONLY makes sense on a printed page, where it looks like a normal font after ink bleeding, etc. On screen, it looks like shit. And can't take advantage of sub-pixel-font-rendering employed by every modern OS on LCD displays.
It's still a 33% saving on ink though. I don't see how the percentage of the page covered in ink is relevant. By your logic a 100% saving in ink would still "only" be 5% of the page?
I think the point is that there are opportunities to think about improving efficiency in all professions, and that these saving needn't necessarily come at the expense of quality. In fact, the inspiration to create something more efficient may actually lead to a pleasing aesthetic.

Stunningly real graphics
Low-spec PC? Around the same as XBone/PS4? Get real. This stuff was rendered on an i7-3770 / GTX670. The XBone can barely handle Diablo 3 at 1080p.
Evolution's shortcoming is Intelligent Design's Downfall
But surely thats the point?
If you are inclined to believe in some over-watching intelligence that is creating and playing us as a hobby (and I understand and sympathize with that emotional need so long as you don't start burning unbelievers) then why bother with complicated half-science based justifications?
If there's a big magic man in the sky why not just ignore science completely as those who perpetrated the dark ages did, instead of a neoliberal 95% concession to logic while still retaining the right to believe in magic?
I'm not trying to insult - just interested in how a clearly smart mind squares the circle: either the world is explicable (atomic level up anyway) or its the arbitrary caprice of a being that renders our thoughts redundant .. no?
I see design inferences where most others don't..
Most speciation events are simply naturally occurring adaptive alterations..But more radical body-plan revisions, land mammal to aquatic cetacean for example, show signs of designer input
Skateboarding Time Collapse: Shot with the Lumia 930
Well, that depends on what you mean by CG elements. The whole thing is a composite shot that has been stitched together on a computer.
But I guess they mean rendered CGI models... in which case, I would ask why that's so crazy? I mean, it's a cool video and some pretty *skillful skating, but I didn't see anything that would require any kind of animation.

Wall Street Gets It - Income Inequality Bad for Wall Street
Why this concept would be foreign to anyone is beyond me; nature has billions of years of evolution under it's belt and if there is one thing it has proven is beneficial for the vast majority it's balance relative to reality. If we can't evolve attitudes in line with reality we will render ourselves obsolete.
I'm disappointed to see this covered by a conventional partisan. If I could have one wish it would be to render the terms "conservative" and "liberal" out of our lexicon. Ideology is more complicated than a two-dimensional scale. Democracy is based on a thinking populous, and we need to revert to that ideal to survive. The separation of personal identity into "brands" is at the core of what is tearing our society apart.
Marksmanship Fundementals from Lon Horiuchi
There is no statute of limitations in the offense of the First degree (premeditated) murder by Federal agents of Randy Weaver's wife and son in 1992. Justice has not been served yet.
I sent the following message to Idaho Governor Butch Otter via both is Facebook page and via a direct link to his state website. I'd like to challenge all of you to do the same. Just copy & paste everything below the line. His contact information is at the bottom.

Remembering the Real Story of Ruby Ridge Idaho - August 21 1992
From >> [url redacted]
Uncovering government corruption at Ruby Ridge
According to FBI Grand Jury Testimony, US Marshals were involved in the cover up, the media, and the story from the Weaver's perspective...
Today, you are considered an "extremist" by the ADL and SPLC if you think the actions taken here by the Federal Government were out of hand. For the first time in US history, the FBI was given permission from cabinet members of the George HW Bush administration to change their Rules of Engagement to, "can and should shoot to kill" effectively rendering the US Constitution useless. A young boy was shot in the back and killed by US Marshals, and FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi later shot and killed Vicky Weaver while she was unarmed and holding her 10 month old baby in her arms. This incident serves as an educational tool to all Americans on just how useless our coveted Constitution is to the Federal Government when you cross them. I do not endorse violence towards the Federal Government. This is simply the closest I could come to the real truth without media/Government disinformation.
You have to ask yourself, even in this age of information, why is it so hard to find the truth about Ruby Ridge?

I have a friend who was a Deputy United States Marshall at that time. He wasn't involved with Ruby Ridge, but he knew 2 agents who were. He told me:
"I knew two of the guys in the woods that weaver's son engaged. It was a mess from the start. If the dog would not have smelled the surveillance team nothing would have happened that day. It all ended badly. Stupid ATF case was bad from the start. Weaver would have been acquitted if he would have just gone back to court. Travesty of bad decisions all around."
The fact remains that it wasn't Randy Weaver's fault he didn't make it to the court appearance. It was all due to an intended snafu on the part of the Feds. They set him up to murder him and his family with extreme prejudice!
At the Nuremberg trials: Principle IV states: "The fact that a person acted pursuant to order of his Government or of a superior does not relieve him from responsibility under international law, provided a moral choice was in fact possible to him". This principle could be paraphrased as follows: "It is not an acceptable excuse to say 'I was just following my superior's orders".
In my opinion, the officers involved should be charged with first degree murder, and those who assisted the operation should be charged and tried as accessories to first degree murder. Until this happens, we will never again be "One nation under God." This travesty screams for justice!

If we are ever going to get anyone to open the case again and get these murderers charged and tried for their crimes against Americans, we need to raise public awareness of the facts involved. The best way to do it is to get as many people as possible to share the link below or copy & paste it and post it in as many places as possible. I would also suggest you copy and paste the link and send it to every state legislator and the current governor of Idaho.

Israeli crowd cheers with joy as missile hits Gaza on CNN
I do understand that the purpose of Godwin's law is to reduce the worst kinds of hyperbole, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do.
Whatever you think about Israel's policies regarding the Palestinians, referring to it as extermination only shows that you haven't taken the time to understand anything about the current conflict and you are just reacting emotionally to the terrible horror of war. Extermination is the total elimination of a certain population by killing, and such an action is so far beyond the state of oppression we see in Gaza today that I just can't take your comparison seriously.
The only way you bother to support these outlandish statements is by telling me that death is death - no matter what the cause - as if that mindless tautology is enough to render two wildly different sets of circumstances and tactics equivalent.
Should we also call all murders murders and not bother to make distinctions between first degree, second degree, involuntary manslaughter, etc? Should we treat the serial killer the same as the drunken brawler who hit someone too hard in a bar fight?
Of course not. As thinking people we analyze factors such as intent, quantity, severity, remorse, and perhaps most importantly, we consider what measures can possibly be taken to correct the underlying cause. All of these elements are wildly different in the different degrees of murders, and having an honest grasp of these differences helps us understand how we as a society should react to each degree, both in terms of punishment and rehabilitation.
To similar ends, it is very important that we consider analogous distinctions in the different degrees of atrocities between nations or ethnic groups. The fact that it is obvious that I would much rather be in Gaza today than a concentration camp in 1943 is very much so relevant to this sort of analysis. The fact that there is no Israeli intent to exterminate the Palestinians is also relevant.
But if you want to leave the depth of your understanding at "dead is dead" then I guess that's your choice.
Is it nuance to be an innocent family on the receiving end of a high explosive round? Last time I checked, whether it's via gas or a shell, death is death. Do you think the Palestinians suffer less fear waiting to see if they are about to die? That you raise scale as a method of differentiation is laughable. Israel has has ~70 years of slowly whittling away at Palestine and it's people.
And the facile differentiation between a German concentration camp and Gaza is beneath you. You would much rather not live in fucking either, and neither would all of us if we were given a choice. That the Israelis are going about the business of eliminating Palestine slowly is more about international backlash. If they thought they could get away with it, they'd sweep them in to the sea and be done with it.
And in response to the invocation of Godwin's Law, you do understand that the purpose of the Godwin is to reduce/remove ludicrous hyperbole, not to shut down legitimate comparisons? Much as you could draw parallels with Idi Armin, Stalin/Russia etc, Israel is engaging in similar tactics. Fascism, racism, segregation, making war on civilians etc. That it isn't a 100% carbon copy is irrelevant.
"Weird Al" Yankovic - Mission Statement
Sorry, I don't know the history of your post. It was just reported that it seemed a non-working video was intentionally posted.
I've taken it out of the discard pile and put it in your Personal Queue so that it's still a viable post and a subsequent submission will not render your (discarded) post a dupe.
Just for the record, I did not intentionally post a dead or unpublished video.

For such a beautifully rendered video, that explosion was shit. Should have overlayed the "enhanced" Death Star explosion from the Lucas "enhanced" Episode 4. Would please everyone.

ARRESTED FOR ANTI-OBAMA POSTS
Your perfect-world news-report fantasy works fine in theory, does it?..'peer reviewed' till the cattle are housed in mandatory temporary-to-permanent dirt-floor & barbed-wire accommodations CE??....Maybe your own verbal ticks will develop into a similar, "well, very specifically" when you are NOT being arrested lawfully and tossed into an asylum where a company doctor can render you insane, deprogram you, and use you as an 'example' of what one can or can't say on Facebook?
Forest-for-the-trees lackeys are a dime-a-dozen at a peer-reviewed fantasy camp on the outskirts of (insert city or town near you in the future you've helped to create).
You are already on planet police-state, keep up the fine work and pour-through those tomes of toilet paper and perhaps hone your own 'axe' (a fucking metaphor for reason or wisdom, the kind that cuts both ways....HELLO?!)
How bout an interview?
Sorry, but regardless of whether this story turns out to be accurate or not, @Yogi's stance is completely valid.
One of the major problems in the world now is people who believe things without questioning them. News reports should have to provide evidence, cite sources, etc. If you make a scientific claim in an advertisement, I want to see a peer reviewed study that backs it up.
