To be clear, in the original video the cop's lines from: "Pardon me" up to "sign here" are fabricated. Replacing the original soundtrack and dialogue of the lady relaying her address to the cop as he copies it down and spins the clipboard around for her to sign.

I'm an experienced sound editor. If there's one thing I understand in this world, it's audio and how to hide an edit. At its core this video fails to do that on several levels and all I hope to accomplish here is to educate people who want to learn how to spot a fake in the future.

I am 100% certain this is a fake, rendering it zero true value to the sift.

Don't you find it at all suspicious that in the original video the lady is audible whenever she speaks except for when she supposedly asks the cop the implied question? Why wouldn't she be heard then? It's because when he asks for her present address (actual dialogue) her actual dialogue (stating her address while he writes it down) is removed and the cop's zinger is shoe-horned in.

Notice the awkwardness in the jump in time between the the end of the zinger "sign here" and "This is not an admission of guilt"(actual dialogue). The difference in the fidelity of the audio (the fake dub vs the actual dialogue) is apparent. Besides that, it's just an unnatural rhythm of speaking forgetting that the dubbed voice is way off in terms of a match for the cop when listened to back to back at such a close proximity. The dubbers didn't have a large window of time to work within giving the dialogue a rushed quality which helps to expose it as a fake.

Also note the cop's body language while he is speaking to her throughout the original video. He frequently looks at her making eye contact when addressing her. During the false exchange his body language in no way reflects the bewilderment that is expressed when he repeats her assumed hushed dialogue.

On top of all that the dubbers failed to add foley of the sound of him handling his clipboard, a sound close enough to the cop to be picked up or cause interference with the cop's mic. There is just silence instead since they removed all sound during the exchange added a background ambiance loop (plenty of b-roll to draw from) and then dubbed in the lines which has fooled 110 (as of this post) into voting it into the #1 spot.

These are the exact kinds of tricks that are used in "reality" tv to take raw footage of people and construct characters in post utilizing the most sensational dialogue available and place a musical backing track to let you know how you are supposed to be feeling about a certain person or situation.

TL:DR See funny thing, upvote and move on.

The news story said "Amazing as it is given what happened here none of the injuries are life threatening". I'm pretty sure I heard in the raw footage that the guy who took the axe to the head died.

Hardly, the other clip, while very good, has the white guy talking all over the vid. This is the original with the original sound track. Completely legit sift.

Also, this woman thought she was smart enough to plead not guilty? Wow.

Looks and sounds fake. NIST has edited out a lot less from other videos, no way they release something like this. If it is legit, then it should have a FOIA identification number attached with the "raw" footage. ("raw" as in condition released by NIST)

It's grizzly and someone definitely dies in it. I'd probably discard it as snuff, since other posts of "raw footage" has gone that way, but I think the discussion is worth having.

A way to do it is to post it in sift talk and embed the video there, or find a more palatable video to sift (like a news report on that thing) and link that video in the description.

I'm not for one second surprised that any religions would do this, but if I out of hand should point to the most likely suspect, Islam, it seems I would be right. I'd parade the people responsible, every single one who hit that person, out in front of the angry mob and shoot them, but that's just me.

Indeed. Do you think this video should be sifted? I understand the disgust factor, but I feel it cannot be considered snuff, since the images/soundtrack/description already provide information (and matter for debate) far beyond "something died/was killed".

Ahh, no, they aren't all necssarily one long take..but they are all part of the same campaign video..which was obviously edited for different audiences, but it wasn't all the same take..and as far as credibility goes, i don't think your testimony about me is particularly credible, seeing as it has been laden with ridicule from the outset

Oh, you know this for fact? I've seen the raw footage from what this is from, she's addressing differen't people in different areas with each take. They are NOT part of one piece / interview / whatever you want to call it. The little cut to animated text scenes in this video is masking that this isn't one long take.
So.. you'll claim to know something for sure without all the facts, so long as it matches what YOU want it to be, huh?
Now how's anyone supposed to take anything you claim with any credibitlity?

this is pretty brutal.the raw footage makes it even more visceral.
this is technically snuff but with redeeming value in the sense of staring horror in the face.
and this IS horror.
the horror of fundamentalism.
the horror that a group-think mentality fueled by religious dogma could so easily persuade a human being to take a bat to another human beings head while the onlookers cheer.
the horror that these very same people believe with all their hearts they are doing "gods work" and are justified in their brutality perpetrated on another human being.
the horror that maybe another fundamentalist from another religion may watch this and feel a sense of duty to pick up a gun or some other weapon and stand as a "holy warrior" to enact a justice demanded by "their god" against the muslim zealot.
the horror of the cycle of the fundamentalists justifications and rationalizations to perpetrate atrocities against their fellow man all in the name of "god".
this is not holy.
this is not sacred.
there is no justification.
there can be no rationalization.
this is murder.
this is horror.
so look in to face of religious zealotry and know horror.
