World's First $9 Computer

AeroMechanical says...

I think I'd still go with a Beagleboard Black. The thing you want is documentation and source code. I can't find any on Allwinner's site (and the other component's manufacturers aren't named), and given Allwinner is a Chinese company I wouldn't put a lot of faith in the English documentation. Likewise, the Broadcom SOC in the Raspberry Pi's full documentation is only available under NDA and then only to volume customers, which is BS (moreover, no source for the bare metal stuff--an opaque binary blob does that).

If you're selling something as an educational development platform, some things are a lot more important than a few dollar's savings.

Wouldn't be too hard to glue some round disks on top of an HDTV and create your version 2.0 as full-screen software... Would make a cool Raspberry Pi project.

I thought it was AMAZING! I wish I could own one, but I want V 2.0 with color changing hands and faces to 'paint' pictures as well as geometric patterns. I would wait minutes watching this to get the time from it.
If you can't wait 20 seconds while being entertained by awesome art to know the time, it sounds like you need a watch! ;-)

I know I'd love them! Especially because of the coconut (and did you notice when you click to the recipe it says "perfect with a nice cup of tea"?) At Christmas I always make a whole bunch of different cookies and one of the types I make is very similar (minus the coconut). This is the one...

I'm going to have to try yours next time instead because I have a feeling I might like it even better! I'd better print it off now before I forget!

Thank you for digging it up for me!

Hey @chingalera can we add this yummy looking coconut jam drops recipe of oritteropo's to your contest (even though he's made them before)?

Here's my promised recipe - http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/13554/coconut+jam+drops

Very easy, and very yummy. 360 deg F for old fashioned ovens Or Gas Mark 4 (I've never had an oven that used gas mark, but recipes give them). I think I put in the whole egg and not just the yolk, but I don't remember. I usually use raspberry jam (other recipes say use raspberry or strawberry, this one is more relaxed about type).

p.s. Important point - the measures are metric, so 1 cup is 250ml. Smaller cups might throw the amounts off a bit.

Yeah, it was meant to be F1 cars; but Bernie Ecclestone (F1 commercial rights holder) decided against it, as he thought Stallone would give F1 a bad name.

He was right: It earned seven nominations at the 22nd Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Couple (Burt Reynolds and Sylvester Stallone) and twice for Worst Supporting Actor (Reynolds and Stallone), with Estella Warren winning Worst Supporting Actress (also for Planet of the Apes).

List of F1, Indy car and CART drivers in the film:
Jean Alesi
Michael Andretti
Kenny Bräck
Patrick Carpentier
Cristiano Da Matta
Adrian Fernández
Christian Fittipaldi
Dario Franchitti
Luiz Garcia Jr.
Mauricio Gugelmin
Michel Jourdain Jr.
Tony Kanaan
Juan Pablo Montoya
Roberto Moreno

Here is an Excelent Racing movie: Grand Prix (1966)

It won the Academy Award Oscar for: Best Effects / Sound Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Sound in 1967.

It's the only Official F1 movie. The sound is quite incredibly. There is a scene in the movie; as they race around the streets of Monaco, with a Panavision 65mm camera strapped to the hood of the car.

All the best,
ZDM

Thanks for the *promote

There haven't been enough movies featuring racing cars, and even more so for F1. The French film Taxi (or taxi driver, or something like that) purported to have F1 cars, but they looked more like F3000 to me, there were a few others spread over many years... and then there's Rush and the Senna film all at once - life is good

Wasn't the Stallone one featuring Indy cars?
