The Clash- Magnificent Seven- live
>> ^harpom:
I think Joe Strummer was one of the most talented musicians ever. I started listening to the Clash in 1977, and still listen to them on a regular basis. If i were on a desert Island i would be happy with, the clash discography and also the Ramones for good measure. Joe Strummer RIP.
Agreed. As a musician Strummer is my #1 musical influence, hands down. Followed by Lennon and McCartney. I crank up "4 Horsemen" on the way to work and sing along until I'm hoarse.

FEAR - Saturday Night Live 1981 - Historic Performance
>> ^Stormsinger:
Nope, getting paid even 25 cents seems unbelievable to me. I've heard 8 year olds that did a better job of playing their instruments.
Frankly, I'm really having a hard time making the word "music" stretch to cover that noise.
I know this post is old but I had to post just to get this out of my system...stormsinger is an idiot. Lee Ving is an extremely talented musician and Fear were some of the most accomplished musicians of the early hardcore scene. Flea from RHCP did a stint with Fear FFS. I don't expect everyone to understand the Punk movement but don't be an idiot. Go listen to whatever insipid, flatulent, and derivative pop crap is the flavor of the day and keep your opinions to yourself. And yes, Punk was about attitude but it also spawned some of the most creative and powerful rock and roll ever. Nirvana, Greenday, Coldplay etc... all wannabe's. I love Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters but they might as well be Husker Du, and Dave would probably admit it. He often has Grant Hart at their shows! Calling Fear weak is like saying the Ramones didn't influence anything...moron.

What's your first memory of rock & roll? (Rocknroll Talk Post)
Growing up in a radio Station, (my mom has worked in the same station my entire life), I have just always been around rock and roll. I remember meeting everyone that came through town, even Wolfman Jack on several occasions. There were so many, and I was young, I don’t even remember names…. You just don’t care at that age when you are around it all the time.
I used to get all the demo records to bring home. I remember at one of my birthday parties (10th?) I gave out 45s as party favors. (Five to each guest.)
My mom had a collection of 5-600 albums and several hundred original 45s with songs like “Robert Mitchum-
Ballad OF Thunder Road (1958), Janie Grant-Greasy Kids Stuff (1962) 45’s by Jan & Dean, Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Little Richard, Richie Vallens, Elvis and that era. I remember putting on CCR albums as young as 6 or 7 years old.
My personal first 45s were Kiss-Beth, Jerry Doucette-Mama Let him play, Eagles-Liyin’ Eyes. My first Albums were Kiss, Rock and Roll Over and Bay City Rollers.
Into grade eight, my favorites became stuff like, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kiss, ACDC, the Ramones, The Cramps, The Moody Blues, Meatloaf, Styx and so much more. At one point I amassed over 1000 albums…
I thinned my selection down after getting married thinning down to around 50-100 albums and cassettes and have regretted it ever since. Music has been such a large part of my and there is a story to go with every song I ever remembered.
My first Rock Concert was Red Rider, opening for them was (Don’t laugh) Honeymoon Suite !!!
Long live the Music!

A cops worst nightmare-- AK47 gunfire
Dashcam video by Richardson police shows bullets from high-powered rifles flying through the window of a police cruiser, as the so-called Takeover Bandits made their getaway following a bank robbery on 11/04/2004.
Richardson officers responded to a call that the American First National Bank at 400 N. Greenville Ave. was being robbed. They caught up with the fleeing suspects and began a chase that took them north on Central Expressway and into Plano.
The video from one vehicle shows an officer attempting to follow the suspects' getaway car on to the highway when the suspect vehicle suddenly veers back onto the service road and unleashes a storm of bullets, shattering the rear window of their car and piercing the front of the police cruiser.
Another dashcam view from several minutes later in the chase shows the suspects, who by now had abandoned their first vehicle and stolen another, slamming into a pole at the intersection of Jupiter and Summit in East Plano.
The suspects jump out of the car, grab what appears to be some bags from the vehicle, and continue shooting at Richardson and Plano police officers.
Police: Lack of assault weapons results in disadvantage
Amazingly, no officers were shot; only one officer suffered minor injuries from flying glass.
One of the suspects in the robbery, 31-year-old Guadalupe Fajardo, turned himself in to authorities in the Panhandle town of Slayton, where he was apparently visiting relatives. Fajardo was transported back to North Texas Monday afternoon.
FBI is asking for the public's help to find the third member of the "takeover bandits." A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of 22-year-old Ramon Gavina.
Gavina's brother, Roberto Gavina, was arrested earlier during an FBI raided an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Gus Thomasson in Dallas.
Update: March 14, 2005
DALLAS -- The third member of a violent gang of bank robbers responsible for 60 armed robberies and a shootout with Richardson, Texas, police has been arrested in Mexico, police said Monday.
Ramone Gavina, 22, believed to be part of the "Takeover" Bandits, was taken into custody by Mexican authorities on a charge unrelated to the bank robberies in North Texas. Mexican police released Gavina before realizing he was wanted in the United States. Police later rearrested Gavina.
Police said Gavina and the other members of the Takeover Bandits escaped Richardson police Nov. 4 during a gun battle that disabled five police cars while fleeing from a bank robbery.
Everybody's heard about the bird... The bird's the word.
I have versions of this from many artists including the Ramones, The Cramps and even Pee Wee Herman! (including several others that I can't think of off the top of my head just now...)
