Motorcyclist Lands like A Ninja After Being Hit by A Car

MilkmanDan says...

...And that is a big part of why I'd never want to drive a motorcycle. Do everything right, get plowed into by some retard. At least when that happens in a car, I've got a seatbelt, airbags, and metal cage around me to mitigate the damage.

Horrifying 120 car crash in Michigan

Retroboy says...

They all seem to forget for the first couple of big storms of the season though. Dunno if Michigan had been plowed previously with a white-out but it's close enough to me to suspect they had near-summer-driving conditions like we did for most of December...? And that gets you hoping you're not gonna need your snow tires...

It's so sad. People who live that weather, and I used to---they should know better.

North...to Alaska, for a White (less) Christmas

deathcow says...

We usually have a few feet of snow at least, and have had to call plowers to get our driveway plowed a few times. We usually have below zero weather on many occasions (none so far?) Alaska will become the new Seattle maybe.

Libertarian Atheist vs. Statist Atheist

robdot says...

In america anyway, the government provides clean water, sewers, police, fire depts, schools, safe roads. etc. Corps cant do business without highways,,or healthy consumers and workers. This guy is just a complete moron..the idea that bankers and corporations will self police or that markets self adjust has been proven wrong by history over and over. Who will plow the roads? who will build the damn roads? Who would build hoover dam? who would build sewers? Who would provide disaster relief? The lunacy of this idiots arguements are self evident.

Solar FREAKIN' Roadways!

VoodooV says...

you're not wrong that rooftop solar panels would collect more energy. but this also kills many birds with one idea/stone. since asphalt is petroleum-based, the costs for roads is constantly going up, this solves that. this solves a lot of issues with electric vehicles, and snow plowing and many others that the video addresses.

but hey, even if this idea ultimately doesn't work out. any work done on this project can be spun off into a new project that could benefit us greatly.

so I've got zero problem investing in this, even if it ultimately it doesn't pan out, because this work will ultimately benefit someone else's work.

Stormsinger said:

This is just another "free-energy" style scam. Won't happen, doesn't even make sense...putting solar cells on roads is about the worst possible plan. Far more realistic and economical to use solar cells to replace shingles, and roof every building with them, but that won't capture the imagination of the gullible.

Man of Steel from a Baby's Perspective

SDGundamX says...

Just watched it two weeks ago and I thought it was much better than the reviews gave it credit for. However, I do agree with some of the critics' comments. For example, I felt the romance was forced plus the kiss scene just felt off to me--it would have been more natural if they had just been friends in this film and they saved the romance for a sequel.

There were also some just plain weird scenes--Superman flies to his Mom's rescue but only plows down Zod while leaving his mom alone with five or six of Zod's officers...wtf?

I tried showing the movie to my 2.5 year old (she likes action movies) but the fighting and effects were a bit too realistic for her and she got too scared to watch it. Star Wars (the prequels and the Clone Wars series) are more her speed.

This film was, to me at least, the greatest super hero film to date. Ever. I just can't get enough of that action, and the pacing, dialogue and maturity of it was just icing on top. Superman is my least loved (most hated, even) super hero of them all, and I love this film.

Wing Chun Techniques - how to destroy the boxer

Jerykk says...

Somehow I don't think this technique would actually work in a real fight. In a real fight, your opponent will likely just plow into you, not stand at a convenient distance and throw conveniently timed punches.
