Well... that wasn't GLADOS who said that it was the Space Core, which is a personality core. If I recall correctly he was one of the rejected cores that get added to Wheatley (sp?) to make him lose control. His lines include how he wants to go back to Earth...

Anyhow, I may have to reread the book once I'm done with Seveneves by Neil Stephenson... I just read Ready Player One, which is another great book being turned into a movie soon. I believe that one is being done by Stephen Spielberg...

As a long-time NPR listener, I applaud Iv_hunter for bringing an air of class and maturity to Videosift with this submission. Too often, Sift is plagued by such low-brow topics as TED talks and the ever-rancorous Neil deGrasse Tyson. By exposing the Sift audience to masterpieces such as "lol horse fart", one is reassured that erudite viewing will never go out of style. Salute', Iv_hunter!

If they want this mission to succeed the hardest thing is going to be separating out the nutters. I would imagine the biggest risk to the people on the spaceship once they've made it into space is each other. Being locked up with three other people and no way to ever, ever get away from them, it's all going to be about who can make that happen.

There's a good reason the first men on the moon were military. Stress tested and hardened. While I can see the british lad in this video is very intelligent I'd still rather have someone like Neil Armstrong at my back if the shit hit the fan.

I can see how this is all trying to raise awareness of the project but I'll be amazed if they send anyone who isn't tried and tested.
