Soldier Throws a Puppy off Cliff

moodonia says...

I'm gonna say this one is fake. It appeared to me there was a momentary delay in his movement as he puts puppy down and picks something else up from cliff side, which naturally takes place while he stands between camera and puppy.

That said, maybe I just think that cos I dont want to believe this is real...

Either way these guys are total fucking idiots for doing this because its going to be seen all over the world and bring serious disrepute on their uniform.

What happens when you take the magnet away? I would imagine it would but it stay on?

It's been a long time since the button on the front of your comp was an actual power switch. Now it's just a momentary switch that tells your motherboard to start up. Like, if you tap it, Windows shuts down then the hardware turns off. It's virtually the same as those keyboards with the shutdown button.

540 Spin Kick Triple Board Break! (5 Seconds)

rembar says...

if you are facing a professionist, or anyone who is used to fighting, flying kicks are probably a dumb idea. But still, I bet a good part of the average street thug would still be impressed by something like that.

It's like someone playing with nunchucks (or butterfly knife) before using them: he's using them as intimidation.

I guess, if you want to take the chance that your opponent is easily impressed and isn't going to laugh at you while you flip in the air. Personally, I'd be somewhat relieved to see a person throw a flying kick, flip his nunchucks, or swing a butterfly knife. It tells me they're not ready to kick ass and take names for real. Flying kicks look silly and probably indicate that whoever's doing them actually might think that crap works, nunchucks are almost completely useless in a fight, and butterfly knives are inefficient fighting weapons compared with other knives (dangerous though all knives are).

And screwing around with any of those puts you at a momentary disadvantage. Hell, what happens if you do the kick and the guy rushes in while you're rotating in the air? Bad times.

I'm no badass, but if I were to get into a fight, I think a much safer and smarter course of action would be to put up your dukes, square your shoulders, and tuck your chin like a good boxer. Rear back for a huge right, and then when he reaches up to block, turn tail and run.

Iraq war draft?

drattus says...

As 9-11 proved, if you're an American, you're already in the war, right here at home.

I normally stay out of the pure politics threads, don't even read them just for this reason, but I saw this quote in recent comments and can't help it here.

We lost once the recounts were done just about 3k people on 9-11. Each and every year, every one, we lose MORE to accidental drowning.

http://www.allcountries.org/uscensus/135_deaths_and_death_rates_from_accidents.html

I'm sorry and I don't mean to minimize what happened, it was as severe a crime as could have happened but they can't destroy us like that. They can propel us toward suicide though and that's exactly what they've done. The real threat is from those who want to turn us into an authoritarian regime over it and they can destroy us from within.

If each and every year without exception another 9-11 happened accidental drowning would STILL be a bigger real world risk than death by domestic terrorism would have been, but it doesn't happen that often. Only happened once. Yeah, I expect it or something similar or bigger probably will again sometime, how else can they keep us on the path toward sure suicide? But I've also no doubt they'll be but a pin prick when history is done telling the tale, the damage will be mostly self inflicted.

9-11 changed nothing. Our reaction to it, panic and our willingness to sell our futures for momentary illusions of safety did. We're no safer now, we're less so. Just more scared.

Jon Stewart Post 9-11 Monologue

Krupo says...

Damn powerful.

About 10 seconds before the end you hear this solitary cough which reminds you of how rapt the viewers are to his speech; that momentary 'gap in silence' has quite a little kick.
