Fracking: Things Find A Way
>> ^Peroxide:
LED bulbs will soon be more affordable, and they use even less electricity than CFLs, however, they can be sort of blindingly harsh.
This one looks nice, and like they addressed the harsh light, http://www.ledsmagazine.com/news/8/8/7
>> ^notarobot:
Be careful how you change your bulbs. The 5 mg of mercury in a single CFL is enough to make as much as 50,000 litres of water undrinkable according to Canadian drinking water standerds.

I can't wait to test drive one of those.

As far as Fraking goes, the only controversy is how these companies continue to get away with it. Water means life. *Quality PSA.

If you cut out all the back and forth rhetoric that inevitably spews between oil(and gas) corporations and communities who want clean air and water and a future, it all comes down to neoclassical economics' false dichotomy.
Corporations (and left and right wing politicians who over romanticize the free market) will tell citizens,
"you can either have:
a) a strong economy, or
b) a clean environment."
and
they
will
insist
we
can't
have
both.
In Canada for the last couple elections people have been scare mongered by this false dichotomy.
I tell you, there is a sustainable economy, there is a sustainable future: dare to dream. Let's all grow the f ck up and build the new economy that defies the bullshit neoclassical economic lies that have been entrenched in our culture. They will tell you the choice is between a job or cancer. Fuck. that. shit.
It's time for the next industrial revolution, the green revolution, I'm in. Change your light bulbs, then change your leaders.

Battlefield 3: Caspian Border Gameplay (with jets!)
Tons of fun, provided the games don' suck. Bad Company 2, for example. What a shit game.
>> ^xxovercastxx:
As wargames become more and more pseudo-realistic, I'm left to wonder how people who've seen actual combat feel about people simulating it for fun? It's got to at least be a little weird, sometimes.
@MarineGunrock? Others? I'm sure there's plenty of vets on the sift, but MG's the only one I know of, specifically.

Behold the mesmerising power of UP's buxom charm!
How you doin', baby?
Also, the important thing to take away from this is that she's had a previous crush on me. ::off to PM AC::>> ^alien_concept:
I have a whole new crush on MG.

Air Ducts
It's more the absolute running joke that games (Metal Gear Solid series in particular!) say "Air ducts are tactically sound!" - Then you move through, loud as a motherfucker with no space to manoeuvre and then you are kinda fucked when they toss in a grenade or similar.
It's just playing up to an Tactical Espionage (looking at you MGS!) cliche! (Although this appears in FPS and movies too!)
That help at all?
>> ^dvst8download:
As a commentary, it lacks two things to make it really work:
1. An actual story or gag.
and/or
2. Better performance to make it actually funny/interesting.
To me it just looks like going through the motions. The Sift can do better than this...
>> ^lucky760:
>> ^SeesThruYou:
Uhh... I don't get it. Pointless.
It's commentary on the true practicality of the novel idea of crawling around in air ducts to attack baddies. It might seem like a good idea, but it's really hard to move around and keep track of where you are. Worst of all, if someone attacks you, particularly with a grenade, you'll be really disappointed when you're unable to escape.
