Azureus Rising - Kickass Proof Of Concept Trailer

Bill Maher Becomes A Teabagger To Speak Their Language

Crosswords says...

But if you cut defense spending how will our airforce get awesome stealth jets that can fly at mach 3 and fire a $500k guided missile from 50k KMs up in the stratosphere with enough precision to hit the milking goat tied up to a post outside a suspected terrorist's stone and dung hut? Answer that one Mr. Maher!

Damien Rice w/ Lisa Hannigan "I Remember"

calvados says...

http://lyrics.wikia.com/Damien_Rice:I_Remember

I remember it well, the first time that I saw
Your head 'round the door 'cause mine stopped working
I remember it well, there was wet in your hair
I was stood in the stair and time stopped moving

I want you here, tonight I want you here
'Cause I can't believe what I found
I want you here tonight, want you here
Nothing is taking me down, down, down

I remember it well, taxied out in the storm
To watch you perform and my ships were sailing
I remember it well, I was stood in your line
And your mouth, your mouth, your mind

Want you here tonight, want you here
'Cause I can't believe what I found
I want you here tonight, want you here
Nothing is taking me down, down, down
'Cept you my love
'Cept you my love

Come all ye lost
Dive into moss
And hope that my sanity covers the cost
To remove the stain of my love
Paper mache

Come all ye reborn
Blow off my horn
I'm driving real hard
This is love, this is porn
God would forgive me
But I, I whip myself scorn, scorn

And I wanna hear what you have to say about me
Hear if you're gonna live without me
I wanna hear what you want
I remember December

And I wanna hear what you have to say about me
Hear if you're gonna live without me
I wanna hear what you want
What the hell do you want?

BF: Bad Company 2 - PC Specific Features

Battelfaild games have always been far more saphisticated than modern ware far.

Modern warefare 2 plays like a mix between Golden eye on the N64 and Unreal 2003 with Modern wepons and a wepon unlock system.

Battelfaild Has far more saphisticated game play interms of game enviroments that acomidate team play far better and give far more freedome to the player.

for me modern ware fare is good if u want a quick death mach or a jump in game sessoin where as battelfaild games offer the choise of a quick game or something more stragic.

another grate thing with battelfaild games is that they real accomidate difrent play typs and alow players mid game to swich from sneeky slow paced game play to In your face fast passed actoin.

As for gun unlocks and all that in gneral i think its a bit shitty id rather just have all the guns avalable from the start i dont see the need to have to unlock everything all you end up doing is puting new players at a disadvantage and the fact is after the game has been out for 4 months 70% of the players will have unlocked everything annyway making it piontless.

Shades of Blue optical illusion

bmacs27 says...

I was kinda noticing how, to me anyway, the shades actually look like gradients (each panel, not the whole thing) without the pencil, darker on the left side than the other.

That's because of the mach band illusion (pointed out in that link posted by berticus). The mach band illusion can be seen with any slight step change. The cause is well worked out and has to do with the fact that the retina primarily encodes contrast instead of luminance. What happens is that the edges are amplified making the adjacent side appear brighter/darker accordingly. As you move away from the edge, you perceive the appropriate brightness. That creates the gradient effect you pointed out.

F-16 Falcon Supersonic Low Pass

drattus says...

Yes, they do emit a sonic boom the entire time they are super sonic. The boom isn't caused just by the fact that they break the barrier, it's because of the shock wave caused by the passage of the plane through the air and that shock wave travels with the plane.

Yes, fighter planes traveling at super sonic speeds would be easier to detect for that reason, and for that reason stealth fighters were designed to perform at sub mach maximums. There's no need for a "stealth" fighter to ever break the sound barrier, doing so would defeat the purpose so they had a max speed of Mach 0.92.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-117_Nighthawk

There could be an argument for them to have super sonic capability in case they do get spotted and need to get away but everything is a trade off between utility for the purpose and just in case needs and in this case they decided it wasn't anything they needed.

I stand corrected. It is much louder when traveling at the Mach 1 boundary then when past it. Also jets are allowed to travel over populated areas supersonic as long as they are at 30,000 feet or above.

Bizzarely, flying HIGHER makes it WORSE, even at 70,000ft. Flying lower than 60,000 is extremely inefficient for supersonics, but flying lower actually makes the boom lessened, when you read into the article.

Good possibility this plane is supersonic, it's just too close to the ground for the pressure waves between the nose and tail to form.

Phelixian, you are incorrect. The sonic boom is due to a pressure wave passing you from object moving at supersonic speeds. It's continuous, not unlike the bow wave of a boat.

Otherwise, supersonic planes like the old Concorde would have been allowed over populated areas.

F-16 Falcon Supersonic Low Pass

rychan says...

Isn't the most perceptually noticeable sonic boom right as the sound barrier is crossed. That's when all of the pressure waves are "stacking up" on top of each other because the vehicle is matching speeds with the pressure waves.

That's what this wikipedia diagram that you just linked seems to show:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mach_cone.svg

If Mach is significantly greater than 1, then the pressure waves on that diagram are as far spaced as the ones for subsonic flight.

Jet flying less than the FFA-approved distance from objects

rychan says...

^ disagree. Looks fast as hell and completely real to me. I don't know how fast you have to be going to have that low pressure halo around you, but I could believe that was near mach 1.
