Going to WPI I always heard the story how all the other professors would shun him even in the lunchroom.

When his recognition switched course they supposedly all sat with him at lunch and he got up and went to another table.

But he has a building or two named after him.

In the lunchroom where I work, we used to all talk about our weekends, families, sports, politics... anything. It would even get loud sometimes. Hell, we even had a Chess tournament once. Nowadays, you can walk into the lunchroom, and it is absolutely quiet. Five people can be sitting at the same table and they are all looking down at their fucking phones. It's sad. Questions receive nothing more than disinterested nods or shakes of the head, and attempts at conversation are met with irritation, as if you are interrupting something (yeah, I know... could be just me ). Cell phones have done more to isolate that to connect, imho.

This guy is a muse and a catalyst, it would be great to see if the inspiration-injections he's performed, have empowered the otherwise timid, to kick a bad job....Bleggh! That communal lunchroom shit is so lifeless...Ah well, self-employed and can never go back!! Cept' to moonlight and inspire......and make the occasional truck payment!

I'm not trying to be mean, but the blog you posted started out being addressed to the general assembly. It was inferred.




I encourage you to think on this, because maybe it won't seem so important tomorrow. After all, it's just a vote.




The community IS important to this site...you are right about that. But I stress that calling someone out in the middle of the lunchroom doesn't endear one to the community.
