Bizarre Trial of Darrell Brooks

this could not have come at a more perfect time.this week i have been accused of being a:racist, misogynist pig,cis gendered white privileged meat sack, republican tool, trump supporter(seriously?),christian nutter...the list has been long.

all because i had the audacity to point out that:obama is not a progressive, trump has actually attempted to some decent things, the ANTIFA movement is an ill-thought and hypocritical movement, the DNC is a corrupt and failing institution, the left is dead politically in america, the democratic party is one election away from being left in obscurity and that both trump and obama should be tried for war crimes.

i was seriously struggling why people refused to examine or scrutinize their own beloved political figure, but had no issue ridiculing the most inane activities of the person they hate.

i had sincerely asked how a morally justified movement could even fathom that fighting oppression and fascism, with oppression and fascism could ever be considered a solid and positive tactic.

i had people i admired and respected perform mental gymnastics so impressive that they were truly convinced that obama not indicting a single wall street CEO,was not obama bowing to the financial industry, but rather supporting his constituency.

and the presumption of some of these people, basing their opinions on so little, was staggering.even when i attempted to clarify that their assumptions were wrong, and that i was simply asking for the reasons why someone would ignore the mountain of damning evidence.they held on to their assumptions like a small child with a candy bar...

i am pretty thick skinned, and do not take much personally, but many of these people are people i like, admire and respect.that is a bitter pill that is far harder to swallow.

so thanks for that mate,it really put things in perspective for me.time for me to just go do my thing and not get hung up on other peoples biases and prejudices.they can think what they want,i will not let their narrow mindedness dictate how i feel.

that is their deal.

Is Obamacare Working?

lucky760 says...

Damn, sad to hear that. I hope you're daughter is okay.

This is the kind of thing that is always one of the most important to me when I just hear the term Obamacare: pre-existing conditions.

To me that's one aspect that overrules most any other: People in desperate need of medical coverage can no longer be turned away and left for dead.

It's working for me. My daughter was born with a preexisting condition. If Obamacare hadn't changed the way those insurance situations were handled I'd be homeless and my daughter would probably be dead.

The total for the bills after she got out of the hospital was $~750,000

Who could live with that kind of debt hanging over their heads without it turning their lives into complete shit besides the super rich is beyond me.

If there was any real justice in the world, Dick Cheney would be woken up in the middle of the night, have a black bag shoved over his head, and be subjected to enhanced interrogation for several years before being left for dead.

What an evil fucker.

Strangely erotic milk ad

@Fusionaut

I left this dead for a reason. The reason was that it was a completely different video.
The video I sifted here - which died - was a spoof ad for Silk milk.
The version you wrongly duped is the original source.

Now, how can I restore the other video, as I want to keep this for the spoof ad - if it ever appears again?

Gun violence in Seattle was higher in the past. Most notably 1994 with a total of 69 homicides. Overall, homicide is down since 1999. It just seems higher because, you know, crazy white person killing white people.

...After reaching its highest murder rate in 1994 with 69 homicides, Seattle's murder rate declined to a 40-year low with 24 homicides in 2004.[2] By 2006, Seattle's murder rate had increased, with thirty murders that year.[3] ...Seattle has suffered two mass-murders in recent history: the 1983 Wah Mee massacre (13 people killed in the Wah Mee gambling club)[5] and the March 25, 2006 Capitol Hill massacre when 28-year-old Kyle Aaron Huff killed six at a rave afterparty.[6] Later in 2006, an attempted spree killing by Naveed Afzal Haq left one dead at the Jewish Federation building.[7]

You're right of course ... it's just that this past week or so has been so bizarre. That guy who was killed by a random shot driving with his family in the CD, the bystander shot outside of Folk Life and that innocent student randomly shot and killed in Pioneer Square coupled with the too close for comfort events of yesterday have me shaking my head and checking my locks.

Thanks for your voice of reason =o)

Zero Punctuation: Diablo 3

shagen454 says...

Not playing it how Blizzard intended for it to be played is exactly why there is such an uproar over the game in the first place. Everyone wants to have their way with their Blizzard game and Blizzard ain't complying. Yeah the DRM sucks but there isn't all that much different in Diablo 3 than any other recent Blizz title. It's a scheme. Anyone who has played any of their games since War3 knows that the games are multi-tiered so what at first seems like a simple, boring, repetitive game ends up being finely tuned & crafted in the end. By ACT III on Nightmare mode it becomes apparent and if one doesn't get that far into the game then they really shouldn't be giving it a review because they should just know better from the get-go.

It's got some of the best multiplayer aspects that I've had in recent memory, running relentlessly across vast floors trying to avoid pools of Hell, or encountering impossible zombie mobs moving 50% faster than normal. It's a lot of fun. Blizzard is a different company than they were back in the day, I don't like it as nearly as much as the first Diablo, for sure... but it's still fantastic. It's still Blizzard. Great mechanics - for what it is - better art direction than most games, great sound and the absolute insanity of it on the more difficult modes where it really comes together. Yeah there are a lot of things that piss me off about D3...

I must admit it seems to me like Blizz didn't give it their all on this one... maybe so they can make sure people go back to their cash cow
The levels are barely random, what the ^%$# is up with the lag? There is too much loot like Yahtzee said, the normal mode IS too easy, nightmare & normal are light/day... don't waste our time. The art direction is great... but not as great as I'd expect from Blizz, muddy textures, accesses the hard-drive too frequently, some of those "cut-scenes" are whack, on Hell mode the random encounters are more difficult than the main quests, no in game auction house? Why the hell is that loot popup menu always there? The story is dumb as fuck. But, regardless that is what the Diablo series is - not much innovation here except in chaos and mechanics and that is good enough for me. We can't compare every Blizz game to WoW... and that is exactly why D3 is great, it's like WoW-ultralite meets Left For Dead, nothing wrong with that.
