I don’t have an expiration date, but I’m way past my “best by” date.

How is it not surprising that the problem sees no problem?

You say : "I don't see people getting beat up, or shot, or assaulted, or arrested for no reason"
So, those that were "beat up, or shot, or assaulted, or arrested", were for a good reason, right?

Ever consider that those reasons are often made up?
Ever consider that the stories you heard around the water cooler were simply B.S., and it was in fact the police simply preying on innocent people?



Just what exactly does LE do for me, or anyone?

Do police have super powers and spidey senses?
Will they magically teleport to someone getting raped, and prevent it?
Will they magically teleport to someone getting run over, and prevent it?
Will they magically teleport to someone getting beaten, and prevent it?
Will they magically teleport to someone getting robbed, and prevent it?
The answer is : no.

Police can't actually /help/ anyone.
They can only show up after the fact, and ask you what happened, and if you know who did it.
If you don't know who it was, tough shit. Sucks to be you.
Unlike on TV, there is no in-depth investigation. The most they do is tell you to call them if you remember something else. (This is speaking from experience)

What if you're not around to even tell them anything? Almost every murder committed by an unrelated stranger without witnesses or video goes unsolved.
Why? Because all police know how to do is ask friends/family where they were, and if everyone has an excuse, police got nothing.

At least when a normal person [that you can identify] harms you, you /can/ call the police, and maybe, just maybe, if they feel like it, they will round them up after the fact.

(They often don't. We've had people dumping trash on our land : police didn't respond. We've had people hunting [strangers shooting guns] on our property : police didn't respond. Brought evidence of a fraud to the police station, with account numbers, names, addresses : we won't investigate. The only time they ever came was to talk with my mother after she reported her credit card number was being used by a stranger - LOL, of all the things, they bother coming for /that/?)

But if the police harm you, you've got nowhere to turn to - but them. And they care more about each other, than some stranger.

Heck, I've been tailgated by a cop, on a multi-lane road, so close his headlights weren't even visible over my trunk. He could have gone around me any time. After miles, when I finally sped up - BAM. Ticket.

I've pulled up to a roadblock by my house, and asked if I could go by. The guy was so incensed that he detained me for hours, and told me I was threatening his life, reckless driving, and not wearing a seatbelt.

I've been threatened by a cop - because I interrupted her chat with her girlfriend to ask for directions around a road they were closing off.

I've been pulled over with gun drawn, for trivial speeding (well below reckless).

Seriously people, every time you get pulled over, you are at risk of getting shot, because someone is trained to be suspicious and paranoid, and they saw something shiny.

Just look at how they behave. Cop shoots his daughter in his own garage, because he thought she was a burglar.
What, too much to ask just to look at the person to see if they're even a burglar? Shoot first ask questions later.

Every year there are multiple cases of police raiding a house and shooting people - only to find out it was the wrong house. What, too much trouble to be a decent human being and just knock first, and ask for whoever they need to come out?

Oh, but that might put them at a greater risk. And we all know that police take MINIMAL risks themselves, and instead risk the lives of the citizens. (Why not approach with gun drawn? At least you're ready to shoot the suspect. And if you accidentally shoot the suspect, oh well, just say they 'attacked'. No biggie. Why take the risk.)
The biggest risk they take, is the one they dream up for when they want to take credit for being the heroes they never were.

Look at the friggin VT shooting. Swarms of cops surrounding a building. Man inside, could be killing more people by the moment... and the cops just camp out and wait for him to kill himself.
Worst part, is if it were my family inside, and I tried to go in and stop the shooter, the police would just shoot me for trying to enter.

(And no, police don't deserve heroic praise. They deserve the _pay_check_ they signed up for. If that's not enough, they should take life more seriously and really think about what it is they're getting into, before they do it. Take responsibility, like an adult should.)

The police are a liability. They're armed. They're selfish. They're paranoid and suspicious. They're jumpy.
IMO, the best thing to do is keep away from them, don't look at them, don't talk to them. Stay away, and stay safe.

Oh yeah, and the police are also immune form the constitution's equal protection clause. "Because interpretation".

Look at the numbers. You are less likely to be arrested or go to jail in NORTH KOREA, than here in the U.S. of A. By a factor of 4 last I checked.
What the heck is going on here?

1 in 18 men is either in jail, on parole, or somewhere in the process of going to jail.
Most of the countries in Europe have smaller populations, than the people that we have 'in the system'. And most of the people we have 'in the system', never even harmed another person. They're just arrested for 'behavior crimes' - simply doing things that are not allowed. This is madness. The system is mad, the police are mad.

You don't end up with videos of a gang of police acting like gangsters, if it's a matter of 'a few bad apples'. They all have to be in the same frame of mind.
If they weren't all of the same frame of mind, one would do something bad, and the others would say "whoa there man, you're out of line".
But instead, they all do it. Because there are no 'bad apples'.
There is 'bad training', and 'bad culture', and it permeates the profession.

And when I say bad, I don't mean that "they are trained to be thugs".
I mean that the police don't see suspects as 'citizens (members of the state) that the police are on the side of'.
Whoever crosses their path is dehumanized. Some kind of "other", that the police need to protect society from. Not realizing that those people /are/ society, and /they/ need protection.
The kind of behavior that I see in these kinds of videos, it's simply treason. Betrayal of the state.

If the laws of this country were written to provide restitution to victims - and there were no laws to simply tell people how to live, and if the police spent their time providing restitution to victims, then I would have nothing but the greatest appreciation for the police.
As it stands, there's very little nobility around this profession. Majority of the job is simply picking on people - sometimes because they did harm, but usually because they mind their own business in an unapproved of way, or for kicks.

It would be really tedious picking apart your comment in full. Suffice it to say you demonstrate that you have no clue regarding animal psychology. A couple of points though; Pit bulls, as with ALL fighting dogs were bred for, guess what, fighting. And, though any animal can "turn," fighting dogs have a higher propencity to attack with no warning, which is why so many countries have banned them. You say that you "established dominance" with force (wrong). However, just because you are the alpha, it does NOT apply to other people. I don't suggest you get a child to take its bone away. Dogs, you should know, have a heirarchy structure. Finally; your wife was, you say, maulled? Circumstances? Your son was bitten so the dog was "chained up?" You were attacked by an otherwise docile horse? Well, you ask, what does this prove? My friend, it goes a long way in demonstrating that you, and yours, should keep away from animals.

So I suppose we'll now see another warning label on bottles that says "keep away from direct sunlight" because someone will have their house burn down from this and then sue them.

I feel bad for her, but at the same time think it was her responsibility to keep away from harmful stuff. She kept close with bad influences.

As someone who is currently (perennially) trying to lose weight, I wish it was something as simple as running around the block a few times. I trained for a marathon two years ago and simply stopped losing weight during the process. I remained 30 lbs above my goal weight, and ran (and finished) the marathon like that. For people who are not naturally lean, it is the difficult (near impossible) combination of proper exercise with proper diet that causes them to often simply give up. It also an unhappy truth that the cheapest food is the least healthy, so poor people are much more likely to be malnourished into obesity.
As to the video, in this particular case, laughing is totally appropriate. But when it's a fat person by themselves, I am usually just saddened. And I always remember that phrase, "Are you riding a scooter because you're fat, or fat because you are riding a scooter?"



I've read about "Fat Head" and it makes a compelling argument. It is theoretically possible to have a healthy weight while eating crappy food. However, we shouldn't be looking at what a single person can accomplish while on a mission to debunk a fear-mongering documentary. We should be looking at the statistics of the category of people who are obese: what is caused their obesity and what is preventing them from losing the fat?

I have no specifics to back up my current opinion. It is a position I have decided upon after many years of personal experience and reading a wide variety of books on getting in shape. It is my belief that the core ingredients of fast food are simple carbohydrates and saturated fats. These ingredients have a 1-2 punch on the metabolism, spiking the insulin response which pushes calories into formation of fat, then crashing the insulin response making the body feel hungry again. Riding this cycle over the long term creates larger and larger appetites, encouraging the consumer to purchase more and more food. Bad for the body, but good for the restaurants. Protein can help reduce the insulin spike, but fast food usually comes with very fatty protein, so that's not much of a help. And vegetables aren't very tasty, so they are easily overlooked.

What I'm saying is that people who are overweight are trapped in a cycle they don't understand, and even if they do understand it, it is very hard to break out. It is literally an addiction like smoking, except you can't quit cold turkey (pun not intended). You can't stop eating. You have to keep eating, but choosing foods you don't enjoy because your habits have been warped by the cheap food industry.

I don't think we should legislate. I'll be the first to stand up and say don't blame McDonald's for your weight problem (even though it's kinda their fault). I'm saying we need to educate. And make that education based on clinical studies, not lobbyist funding like the USDA's myplate program. Teach people the proper balance of protein, carbs, and fat. Teach them the proper forms those nutrients should come in (lean and whole, not processed and sugary). Teach them the benefits of vegetables. This information has got to be in our faces so that we can't ignore it.

But even if we do that, this generation is a lost cause. I work my ass off to get in shape, but I keep falling off the wagon because the craving for fast food gets to be too much. That "high" from a sugary insulin spike calls to me. I'm not kidding that it's an addiction. We need to teach people that, so that kids and parents can keep away and not get hooked.

I hate this so much. She was JUST suspected of drug possession, and then an innocent handbag mix-up puts drugs right back into her hands. I'll bet she was trying desperately to keep away from the stuff, too, but terrible luck puts her in even more hot water.
I hope this doesn't have a negative impact on this classy, beautiful woman's career. She's worked too hard and deserves it way too much.

although its nice to see advancments helping animals. it dose seem strange to me spending this amount of time on creatures when sumular medical techneeks could be used to help people. rather than spending time on this animal this vet could have done a simular amout of training and be helping people instead.

I understand the need to keep people from the work areas and allowing the work to continue unhindered. I even understand preventing the guy from approaching the rest area to some degree. But there are ways to deal with it that don't involve what is being shown in this video. They could simply barricade the area, post signs to keep the unauthorized out, and have their guards escort anyone off who enters the area without authorization.

But that is implying that they have the right to do that, which a lot of these areas are public locations. If they had the power it would be announced on the news and radio, and posted to keep away from these areas until announced otherwise. And that would be the best way to deal with the problem of camera men and the public at large, and made it a crime at the same time giving more deterrent. Except that I don't think they want to keep all the public from within speaking range of the workers, they just want to keep the people with cameras away. If it were truly dangerous to the public at large, it would be done by now. And we all know the public at large can't keep from driving through construction sites without barricades, avoiding uncovered man hole covers without barricades, and dealing with much of anything out of the normal where they can stick their nose to find out what's going on (don't those rubberneckers just piss you off? Especially when they drift all over the place.)

And this isn't just actual work sites they are preventing people from going to and filming. There are plenty of videos of the COAST GUARD stopping people from filming and exploring the coast line from sea because BP said so with no other reason than that. No booms were in place, there was absolutely nothing but oil coated coastline and dead/dying birds, sea life, etc.

And Im rather curious that there isn't a lot of personal footage being shot from people's own land of the mess and sent to these news networks to be aired, but I suspect that is being discouraged in another unknown manner as of yet.

As a sidenote: BP has been putting out low ball estimated reports for the leak, that webcam is underwater with no real frame of reference for the public. Without scale, that thing could be a pin prick in a garden hose or the size of that sink hole in Chile. They've since repositioned the camera a little to give better footage, but scale is still pretty hard to judge if you don't know how big the items being shown are. It's kinda like the realtors who like to shoot everything with that fish eye lens that warps everything out of shape to make it appear bigger...wasting your time looking at that shit since it could have been taken in a barbie house for all you know.


Coast Guard with BP guys stop reporters trying to check out oil covered location..they say it's not their rules by BP's rules "under threat of arrest".

Common sense and critical thinking tell me that they don't want the public at large getting pissed off and pressuring Congress to actually punish the company. The longer they can keep the illusion alive that the problem isn't horrifically bad, the more time they have to let the oil sink under the surface of the water and clean up those beaches...so it won't look as bad as it truly is. Oh and the illusion helps keep their stock prices up, if the clean up outlook is grim...their stock prices will tank. Can't have that happening. If they can keep the stock up, and Congress off their back...they'll only be out up to 75 mil in damages when the lawsuits start coming in...pretty nifty deal with the government contracts already having paid them 800+ million this year.

And upon watching it again, the supervisor gave the media permission to approach the rest areas (after the guards denied it, didn't ask the supervisor at any point as well) to see if the workers would speak to them. The security guards told them not to and continued to do so until they spoke for themselves. At which point the reporter thanked them for cleaning up the beaches and left. And as for the "deadness" of the shots, they didn't shoot much beyond the guards blocking access and their attempt to ask workers to speak to them. We don't know how many people the guards have chased off with or without the authority to do so under the law.

Let's think about it a minute. If BP/the gov't gives carte blanche for all reporters, what's going to happen? The next day they're going to have thousands of reporters standing in the way of the actual work being done. All of the workers will be talking to reporters instead of working. They will create a disruption.
I'm not defending BP for the oil spill at all, but having a little fucking common sense, people. The media does have access. There's a web cam on the spill itself for Christs' sake. That does NOT mean any random person can just walk right up to it and get in the way. It's no difference than me going to the White House, and after being denied access, claiming that because of that, they have something to hide.
Also, take a look at that shot. It's dead. There's not a ton of reporters there. Everyone knows the rules. These douchebags know the rules too. They're deliberately trying to stir shit up by asking questions to "Rent-a-cops" about what the CEO of the company says, and making unreasonable demands about going onto a work-site.
Do keep this in mind one day when you finally go over the edge, and after mowing down half a school's worth of kids in your Prius after a hella cocaine bender, the media can't follow you right into your place of work because you too enjoy protections like the workers of BP! Isn't America wonderful.

Maybe the lack of dedicated servers has something to do with it. In most pc fps games, cheaters and hackers get detected and banned, exploits are patched, and having favorite server list makes cheating a non-issue. And I doubt you were ever good enough to get confused for a cheater everywhere you go, since if you're that good, why are you wasting your time on random pub matches in the first place.


I'm not very good either, so being confused for a cheater is never a problem for me. I have a few friends who are that good though, but for them, being confused for a cheater is a non issue because these players play competitive league matches and spend their time on clan servers most of the time anyways.

For me, cheating on pc games have never been bothersome because programs like punkbuster and VAC keep away the casual cheaters, and it doesn't take long to develop a list of servers which are friendly, reliable, and good at banning cheaters.

As long as I live I will never forget the front page newspaper photo, when I was a kid, of a truckload of marijuana being destroyed by police in St. Louis. They decided to pile it all up in a huge heap in the parking lot and set it on fire. The police were in a ring around the burning pile, assumably to keep away the public. The photo showed a massive cloud of smoke being blown sideways by the wind and completely obscuring one side of the ring of cops.

Must of been a hell of a day at the old precinct.
