IXION Windowless Jet Concept

serosmeg says...

It wouldn't look like that. Thats not how perspective works. If you are standing at one of the the plane looking down the hall it would look correct to you, but the person sitting at a window at the other end would just see a skewed image, or vice versa. Unless the "Parallax Barrier" would produce a head tracking image with correct perspective for each individual passenger, this is just a novelty.

How one black man defeated the KKK with humor and grace

Wikipedia FTW:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wade_Watts

As the state leader of the NAACP, Watts was a target of the Ku Klux Klan and in 1979 had the opportunity to debate the Grand Dragon of the Oklahoma KKK, Johnny Lee Clary, on an Oklahoma City radio station. Clary refused to shake Watts hand before the broadcast, but Watts shook his hand any way and introduced himself by telling Clary that Jesus loved him. When they were leaving the radio station Watts introduced Clary to his wife and the niece that they were raising and asked Clary how he could hate the little girl, causing Clary to realize at the time that he could not. Watts reminded Clary whenever they spoke that God loved him, even responding to a threatening phone call from Clary, in which he told Watts that the he and other Klansmen were coming for him, to which Watts responded by telling Clary that it was unnecessary because Watts would meet Clary and buy him dinner. When Clary renounced the KKK, he and Watts became close friends.

This video along with Johnny Lee's awesome Wii hacks make me think that hardware companies could easily come up with really amazing stuff if they wanted to. And what do we get? The xbox camera/mic and the ps3 wagglesticks.
Just curious, did any of you try virtual reality around 16 years ago when it was newish and being hyped in the media? It's an amazing experience, I still haven't seen anything that compares to it to this day.
The setup I tried had a full helmet with two stereoscopic screens which surrounds the field of view, has built in speakers, and blocks out external light and sound. As well as independent motion tracking of the head and hands. It ran a simple but intuitive FPS, which was also the first true 3D (no sprites) FPS I had ever seen. Compared to that I always have to laugh when people talk about today's games as being "immersive"

You might be talking about the Forte VFX1 Headset, which was by far the geekiest gadget since the Nintendo Power Glove. I played the original System Shock on it and it was great.

At one point in high school I was on a country kick. I was listening to Waylon and Willie, Johnny Lee, and Charlie Daniels. I even went so far as to buy boots, a cowboy hat, and a shirt with flowers embroidered on the shoulders. That kick lasted about six months, and ended when I saw the Rolling Stones play at Candlestick park. I just wish I had taken some pictures, so I could laugh at the cheese.

Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote

This is exactly why Apple should release a programming interface for the iphone to third party developers. Why wouldn't you want people like Johnny Lee innovating on your hardware for free? But then again Apple is not dumb. They must have considered this option. I wonder why they didn't opt for it.
