And yes, the cop did claim that she saw him smoking, but again, after a few minutes of him being a confrontational jackass. And of course, there is the distinct possibility that he was in fact smoking and just lied about it so he could make yet another sensationalistic anti-cop video.

The latter can't be proven based on the video alone but what can be proven is that he handled the situation badly. Only way he could have handled it worse is if he punched the cop. It's important to remember that cops are human. If you antagonize them, they'll probably find some way to get back at you. Should they? No, but until we replace human cops with robot cops, emotions will always be a factor. As with any human interaction, it is usually in your best interest to remain civil and cooperative.

On Sunday afternoon, a sign left at the pool thanked McKinney police “for keeping us safe.” Because, as we all know, ethnic teens are the root of all evil and could hurt us white folks!

I doubt the cop loses his job, but he fucking should. Pulling a gun on unarmed teens is ludicrous. Putting your full weight on the back of a teen girl half your size and resting there for minutes is uncalled for. It is definitely Thailand. Every city is a rat's nest of electrical cables, telephone lines etc. just like that. Construction is generally pretty haphazard, and public safety is rather low on the checklist...

I've lived in Thailand for the past 8 years, and speak Thai well enough to give a translation of the beginning of the video, which is pretty funny:

That's a pretty close translation. The guy with the camera refers to the people responsible as "heeah", which literally means "monitor lizard" but is used colloquially as a slur somewhere between "asshole" or "mother f*cker". Thai uses animal words like that as insults in several other instances also, with a softer example being "kwai" which literally means "(water) buffalo", but colloquially is like calling someone a "stubborn dumbass". Sorta like "jackass" in English, but a bit more offensive.

I must be getting old because the first thing that came to my mind is "I'm glad I don't live on that street having to hear these jackasses scrape their overgrown Big Wheels down the hill day in and day out."

I suspect the FBI's reasoning for not considering it a genuine threat may be in part because the number of people who would actually go through with the kind of shit that she gets threatened with is statistically very small. Conversely, the number of jackasses on the internet who are willing to post all manner of vile garbage simply for their own amusement is HUGE. So that's why I have such a hard time taking the threats too seriously, that and people tend to focus on mass shootings and wind up greatly overestimating their chances of actually being involved in one. Seriously, you're way more likely to be run over while crossing the street by some dumbass texting while driving. Make sure to look both ways before crossing.

It's not punishment. It's fucking arrogance. He took it upon himself to 'teach' a lesson to the first driver without regard to anyone else. How is that any better than the driver who decided that his need to be in a hurry and block the intersection was more important?

Assuming of course that is what happened, perhaps the driver misjudged the light and got stuck rather than run the light? We don't know what led to the car being in the intersection, only that some random prick decided to take it solely upon himself to stand in front of the car as a supposed lesson. I don't know about you, but in the 21st century, I think that we should have advanced past petty vigilantism. Which is all this is, one person taking it upon themselves to be the sole decider of wrongdoing and punishment. Does that sound like something we as a society wants to promote? Because if it is, then it would have been just as fair for the driver of one of those cars to grab a hold of that jackass and toss him back onto the sidewalk in a bloody heap.
