And the Thirteen Doctor Is...
Does it still have the same spooky music intro?
I havent seen much of any Dr. but Baker, and at that time I was the target audience.
Somehow this seems more appropriate than female Bond and Ghostbusters.
I reckon the show went downhill after Baker left.

Oroville 15 May Update -Recovery
that's actually some pretty sweet intro noodling
Syria's war: Who is fighting and why [Updated]
Sincere thanks for that, @enoch.
While I am too ignorant of the situation to be completely convinced by either side of this, I must admit that it does seem fishy for Assad to use such weapons now. AND, the CIA and other US agencies / forces have a really long track record of doing shady things to "protect US interests" with proxy wars, false flag operations, etc. etc.
The US funding Syrian "rebels" that are an offshoot of Al Qaeda doesn't shock me much considering that the roots of Al Qaeda itself pretty much come from the CIA funding the Mujahideen in Afganistan...
Anyway, I can see and understand your reasons for choosing to downvote the video. That being said, I don't personally regret upvoting this because it does seem to be a good introduction / refresher to the situation in Syria, at least with respect to the standard media take on it. For someone like me, it gets me the broad strokes in 6.5 minutes, which has some real value.
But your post here (and a PM from eric) are equally valuable to me for pointing out bits where that "broad strokes" intro is controversial or potentially misleading (if not flat out BS). So again, sincere thanks to both of you.
THE BOOK OF HENRY - Official Trailer
Piano key intro cliche. sigh.
First 5 minutes of Ghost in the Shell Movie.
In the anime movie she is naked just like she is in the intro. The thermocamoflauge is part of her skin, hence the need for the visor to cover her eyes so she is covered %100. In the TV series thermocamo can be slandered fatigues as the entire outfit is capable of going invisible without needing to shed a thing. Here it is back to a skin tight suit that they decided not to bother with "well what about the head?" .
I do not believe she is naked, it's just a skin tight and skin toned outfit, like looking at a Barbie doll really. It could be for titillation or there could be some practical (entirely made up) reason for it. Shirow is also well known for his more erotically themed art as well.
Bill Plympton's Couch Gag
Plymptoons used to freak me the f out. They're still super creepy, as is his animation of the Simpsons couch intro.
First time I ever saw one of his animations was featured in a Spike & Mike animation festival collection (VHS), his shorts about how to kiss LOL. I'm pretty sure they're here on the Sift but I'm lazy. Submit, Ctrl+W, Next.
Fully Restored Hupfeld Phonoliszt-Violina
Bet that thing could do justice to the Westworld intro song.
when should you shoot a cop?
I pushed through to the 5 minute mark now to check for you. He doesn't stay on a global view for more than 60 seconds. In less than a minute he goes from making your valid point about global tyrants like Pol Pot, Mao and Stalin using 'law' enforcement, into declaring an equivalence to American law enforcement. He includes 'sobriety checkpoints' in his list of evil state intervention by American law enforcement that makes them 'no better'.
Observing that many law enforcement schemes, or even most law enforcement schemes globally and historically have been bad DOES NOT prove that ALL of them are. That's the very first day of any intro logic class and he blows that in the first 120 seconds.
If you count war, tyrants, genocides committed by governments/rulers, inappropriate criminal convictions/executions, draconian/harmful laws, illegal police actions, and political culling as law enforcement (and he does), he's almost certainly correct. Certainly there are exceptions in certain times and/or places, but as a whole I think he's not far off....at least counting since civilization/law enforcement started.
Think of Pol Pot....everything he did was in the name of law enforcement. He's not alone by a long shot.
False facts about Star Trek many think are true
Ok, these are cool and all, but any legit Trekker/ie (BOTH terms have been used by varied alumni cast members and fans to mean whatever they want it to mean) knows these things. Anyone who has watched every episode is like "Are these not obvious facts?"
Spock's emotions were even referenced in the JJ reboot. The beam me up thing is already memed. And ST:TNG practically showcases the burreaceacy of Starfleet as something Picard can elloquently rebutt.
But cool video, this is favorited so i can just send it to people who aren't ultra nerds. (My wife is actually the legit Trekker in the family tho -- i set her ringtone to "It's been a long time" because she hates that folky intro song and i know it annoys her that it's Star Trek music hahahahaaaaa...
Homer plays with Domino's Pizza boxes
This was shown in last night's episode right after the intro and its couch skit.

The world of The Jetsons, reimagined.
Why didn't they just copy the original intro(duction)? [sighs]
So why the crap did his car not fold up in to a briefcase?
