Right in Two (Cover by Beard of Harmony)

Awesome. I like their take on the largely percussion section in the original that I see as a symbolic version of the evolution and industrialization of man (simple and free flowing to aggressive to machine-methodical). Cool to see that bit done with flamenco-esque percussion on the guitar resonating chamber.

Hard to beat the snarl-factor that ramps up in Maynard's original vocals, and I think I prefer those overall, but this style goes better with the acoustic instrumentation.

Great sift!

Well, they're much farther apart than they appear...and yet, not far enough lol.
One of the reasons SFO has such horrendous weather delays is that the runways are JUST close enough together that the FAA does not currently allow for side by side instrument approaches to them in bad weather. So, what is a "two lane" airport suddenly becomes a "one lane" airport as soon as the fog, clouds, or stuff shows up. And then the delays become ridiculous

Of Course I'm Trying To Indoctrinate You In My Beliefs

shinyblurry says...

The establishment clause was put into the constitution because of the church of England. This is why many people fled from England to America, because of religious persecution. It was to prevent a state religion, and by religion we aren't talking about Christianity versus Islam, we are talking about different Christian denominations.

Look at what George Washington said in his inaugural address:

"Such being the impressions under which I have, in obedience to the public summons, repaired to the present station; it would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official Act, my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the Universe, who presides in the Councils of Nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that his benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the People of the United States, a Government instituted by themselves for these essential purposes: and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success, the functions allotted to his charge. In tendering this homage to the Great Author of every public and private good I assure myself that it expresses your sentiments not less than my own; nor those of my fellow-citizens at large, less than either. No People can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand, which conducts the Affairs of men more than the People of the United States. Every step, by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency. And in the important revolution just accomplished in the system of their United Government, the tranquil deliberations and voluntary consent of so many distinct communities, from which the event has resulted, cannot be compared with the means by which most Governments have been established, without some return of pious gratitude along with an humble anticipation of the future blessings which the past seem to presage. These reflections, arising out of the present crisis, have forced themselves too strongly on my mind to be suppressed. You will join with me I trust in thinking, that there are none under the influence of which, the proceedings of a new and free Government can more auspiciously commence."

Christian Right = Daesh for fake Christians (fans of, but not students of Jesus)

America was founded on the notion that religious laws have no place in public government or law and religious freedom is a basic tenant of our system. That makes what this idiot advocates about as unAmerican as could be.

This is part of why the right defunds education....history doesn't support their claims or plans, so they believe it shouldn't be taught.

Top 7 Most Bizarre Musical Instruments of the World

I knew them all minus the Otamatone (?) thing that didn't work.

My anti-theremin bias remains. The slide whistle could at least produce consistent near pitch-perfect notes if you practiced with it to get used to the slide locations. Theremin seems consistently inconsistent even if you've got masterful steady hands and loads of practice. The voodoo or homeopathy of instruments.

It does appear to be more of a hilarious novelty than a serious instrument. There's clearly no way to fret on the lower (upper?) half of the strings without having your left hand in a completely bizarre position, or placing it in your lap.

Also, why the hell is one of the strings pitched higher than the string below it? At 47 - 49 seconds you can hear it, and it's labeled as a C# between F# and G#. I'm not imagining that, am I?

so it's a regular electric guitar with a bunch of extra strings that are hardly ever touched?
I'm not an expert but I couldn't hear anything that couldn't be replicated with 1 or 2 effects pedals...

Most vocals you hear are fake

SaNdMaN says...

I'm in the "who cares?" camp.

If you're gonna be mad about studio tricks, why even stop there?

How about multiplying vocals for harmonic effect, speeding up or slowing down the vocals, echoes, fades, etc etc etc?

And why stop at vocals? Instrumentation and arrangements are manipulated in tons of "unrealistic" ways as well.

Production is an art in itself. I consider is as one of the ingredients, together with the "organic" stuff," in the stew which is the final recordeding.

wiki link to Foley Sound

I was going to say; I wonder if it is a continuation of old radio show sound design, and it is!

I think there will always be a place for it just like the acoustic piano. There are too many variables and our subconscious is too in tune with sound that a digital sample will ever be enough to trick us. MAYBE they will get there but I can always hear when they use digital instruments in music.

Thanks I was pretty impressed by how close to the original he got, even though his kit probably cost less than one VOX AC30 amp... without even getting to microphones, instruments, and an entire studio.
